Yes it is normal to be uncomfortable the first week or two. As far as the gas goes walk, walk and walk some more. I also used a heated pad for areas (like my shoulder ) where I had gas pains. Just don't put the heating pad on your incisions. Good luck and hang in there It gets better. I was banded July 11,2008. Soon to be skinny Grandma
