  1. ok yes some of us still feel "hungry" directly after surgery, but while you are healing its so important to follow the guidelines and not to eat more than recommended your nerves are damaged and you will not be getting the correct signals just yet. I use to have an empty pit feeling but discovered it was thirst related if I drank before a meal or drank lots during the day I didn't get it. like the others have said "full" feels different now until you get to the bloated stage which you do not want. follow the guidelines for now until you are completely healed

I am just two weeks post-op and have weighed the exact same for 4 days. I am following my program, and feel extremely discouraged at this point. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm feeling like it was all for nothing.

there will be lots of days where you don't loose weight and some where you might "gain" its all part of the process don't stress, don't weight yourself everyday. pick a day and a time and weight yourself on that day at that time each week. some even only weight once a month lol not me though some only weigh at the dr appointment but the more you weight yourself the more fluctuations/ "stalls" and I use that term loosely you will see.

Makes me feel a bit better now and I will still talk to the surgeon about it too. Thing about my dentist, it's like they cancel my appointment every time I have one. I've only seen them twice since I started going there and that was back in July or August of last year. I had an appointment in November and December and they both got canceled. Then they rescheduled it for january this year...canceled. scheduled for Feb, then March. Didn't cancel the appointment in April. Next appointment was in July canceled, then my appointment was August 8th and they canceled that too. My next appointment is at the end of next month. I know I should switch dentists, but no one in my area accepts my insurance.

But whenever I do get in there, I will also make sure to let them know that I'm going to be getting wls and I care about my teeth. I already have weakened enamel on my top front teeth so that does scare me a bit. They were supposed to put something on them to help them and they haven't yet.

And im always going to tell people, when I announce someday that I had wls, that it isn't the easy way out. I know we have to put in like 95% of the work and it does the rest. People who say it's the easy way out are super clueless.

    find a new dentist

  4. I think the walking after surgery requirements (clot prevention) is only temporary for a couple of weeks. I was just told to not sit still for hours, 1 minute every 15 just seems weird and how are you suppose to relax and recover doing that. getting up getting a drink going to toilet and normal stuff you do around the house maybe a small walk every couple of hours ( around your house) would be enough. but dont stress about it.

  5. CLOTHES !!!! what a wonderful feeling it is to go clothes shopping and the assistant say on your tiny.........who me ?? ( I dont consider myself tiny at a size 12 but hey way better than 22.

A holiday would be awesome too, I had planned to go to Canada with some girlfriends but they had to bring the trip forward and I couldn't get time off work :(

  6. Don't be so hard on yourself, rest and take it easy, think about exercise when you are feeling better right now you need time to heal. You are seeing results which is great, you are on the right track. The first few months are the hardest where we don't feel like we are drinking enough or eating enough but you most likely are providing you are not getting dehydration symptoms etc. Your Hormones will be all out of whack for a bit too so hang in there do your best, rest and look after yourself you will be fine.

P.S I did zero exercise and still hit my goals :)

So I never post on here because my meals thus far have been like a cooked veggie pattie, Protein Shake, pieces of fish or deli meat etc that never look appetizing. But this meal I was like, “yeah, this qualifies” 🤣

And I ate every bite 🥰

Good to see someone like me who can eat a decent amount 😋

Only my Lipase was elevated. My liver enzymes looked good. I had stuck gallstones and emergency gallbladder surgery in April of 2021. I've had issues since with my digestion... Those issues are only worse now... and my Lipase has never been elevated until now, and I've never had this pain in the right side after eating like I do now.

Maybe they missed a stone that is stuck in your liver ?

  9. I hope you get a doctor who is willing to investigate your issues thoroughly, white stool is not a good sign have they looked at your pancreas and or liver? You need to find someone who will treat your case as urgent and run a bunch of tests all at once not just 1 test and say oh that was clear and send you home with no answers. Maybe ask for a specialist appointment with an endocrinologist. Wishing you all the best hope you get answers soon .

Just read white stool can be a sign of a lack of bile. Did you say you had your gallbladder out already ? Given the pain you have after eating I am wondering if you have a blocked bile duct, this can sometimes happen if there has been a stone move from the gallbladder.

On the Vitamins how do you feel if you don't take them? I can't take them I feel awful so I just don't however I have had a sleeve so it's a little different but there are liquid vitamins and other supplements that would work the same way that may agree with you better.

Keep us up to date on how you are going

    Since your surgery….

    what’s been your biggest change?

    what was the biggest surprise?

    biggest challenge?

    biggest personal victory?

My Biggest change: I don't make excuses to avoid going out anymore.

Biggest surprise: how hard the first 4 to 6 months were, then how much I can actually eat now.

Biggest challenge: not to drink coke and eat all my favourite Snacks

Biggest personal Victory: to many to list some small like being able to wipe my bum without feeling like I was going to do myself an injury, lol.

    Here I will add one

Biggest disappointment: loosing my hair 😫 and loose skin but the trade off is worth it I think.......I do miss my hair though and the fact my last hairdresser visit was not good is making it worse

I didn’t even know that was a thing to ask. Sorta wish I had though if it determines the size of the sleeve cause mine seems to be bigger than most peoples. I could always eat more than expected and over a year out I still rarely feel any restriction. I eat about a serving of most things and I just have to measure out my food to keep portions small.

I am the same as you, I think I have said this in reply to a few of your comments 🤣🤣.....sleeve twins........🤣🤣. Prior to surgery I was scared my stomach would be to small and I would only eat a bite or 2 of food for the rest of my life .....how wrong I was

I find a mixed salad easier to digest, hence the nibbling on a Tomato 🍅.

Breakfast is usually a poached egg. Maybe a 1/2 small slice of toast to mop up the egg, but 2 bites of the toast, and I am full.

I sometimes will do a berry smoothie with a Protein Powder, but it takes me all morning to finish it, and then it's lunchtime, and I am stuffed.

lunch varies, as where I work provides free meals. They are different each day, and it's a choice of 2 Soups, 3 or 4 hot dishes, vegetable sides, a salad bar, sandwiches and a selection of fruit. So, Soup is good, fruit is ok, and everything else is meh. But I try to force myself to have some fish or chicken.

I don't cope with high Protein very well, like red meat, as I still get dumping syndrome. Large amount of sugars will do the same thing. I had a couple of bites of a muffin the other day, and nearly passed out in the bathroom. Absolutely drenched in a cold sweat, my vision went dark and the room was spinning. My heart was absolutely racing, and I had terrible diarrhoea. From experience, it usually lasts about 1/2 hour, and I just ride it out.

My evening meal is often non existent. I am just not hungry. I hadn't thought of the dry retching as a symptom of an empty stomach.. that's a strong possibility. I never throw anything up, because my tummy is empty.

That's really unusual for a sleeve patient to have dumping like that.

  13. its still early days, try not to drink your calories or feelings though, a therapist is a good idea though and I think for hubby too, have you asked him what it is about you having the surgery that he is finding difficult to deal with ? Can I be so bold as to suggest that maybe its your hormones too not knowing you age makes it difficult but I started hormone Patches after my surgery cause I just couldn't deal with being peri-menopausal and how the surgery was making me feel and it really helped.

As for your sisters I have a friend who I discovered likes to encourage me to eat what I shouldn't and don't really want to, she suggested we go to a French patisserie for lunch and all sorts of other naughties which I politely declined, then you get the friends that are at the other end and question everything you eat and think you should only be eating lettuce lol. So just do what's best for you and not to please others. lord knows its hard enough for us to make the right choices or we wouldn't be here right ?

Thanks for taking the interest in my post enough to respond. Some context that might shed some light on their position follows.

This relative has shared concerns that I would be miserable down the road and feel awful about all of the things I couldn't eat or experience. They lament on the emotional pain that they anticipate I will feel as I distance myself away from my prior foods and eating habits. It is noteworthy to add that they also have been someone that provided "treats" for me in the past (I have heard the term "food pusher" recently and it struck a note with me here in this situation). Everyone else in my family, my medical team, and the few that I have told, all congratulated me and expressed their support.

In the early pre op and post op stages you will feel like their are many things you wont be able to eat or drink again. Let me tell you I was one of those people I honestly believe my life would never be the same again but I can happily tell you I am 12 months post op and there isn't anything I can't eat or drink.

Yes I had Allurion and aas far as I know it’s only 4 months which is a shame - I’d,love it for longer now. The first month is tough though but that is when the weight falls off. Good luck and keep me posted 👍

can they replace it with another one straight away so you have longer ?

  16. Given the balloon is only temporary I don't think Malnutrition would be an issue. I had a friend who had the balloon and I know she was uncomfortable and vomited a lot. I don't know if this is possible so I will ask, can they deflate the balloon at all or is it set at the level it is now ? if they can maybe get it deflated a little bit ? I believe my friend said it got easier towards the end.

As @Sleeve me alone! said elevated cholesterol levels is common post surgery. Mine went up too. It’s all the cholesterol being released into your body as you lose fat & the high Protein diet (especially animal proteins) & lower vegetable diet add to it. My surgeon & doctor monitored it but it started to go down when my weight loss finally slowed & I was eating a more balanced diet in maintenance. It was always about 5/5.1 before surgery (not bad but not good), went up to 5.8 (danger, danger) & is 4.1 now (gold star 😉).

Try swapping in some plant Proteins & rolled oats into your diet & see if that helps while you are still losing.

Agreed,my surgeon also said temporary higher cholesterol levels can be normal mine is 7.2 I am not taking statins yet going to give it a bit longer. Having said that I have the genetic type of high cholesterol so I am going to get the scan they do to check for Calcium build up in your heart and arteries to see if I do need medication

I don't have monthly follow ups. I had my 2 week in the office, then the 1 month on the phone, my 3 month will be on the phone, my 6 month will be in the office, and my 1 year will be on the phone. I asked if I could come in the office and not do phone check ins and they said no, that they do it over the phone. And I asked if I could at least have check ins more often and they said no, that it isn't necessary. So I'm kind of on my own to monitor my weight. And as much as I want to limit how often I weigh, I find myself still weighing too often.

Get rid of your scales then, ( I too am a daily weigher but I don't class anything as a stall until it's been 4 weeks without any movement. ) the further out you get the slower the movement in the scales I only record my weight once a month now and even though on the daily I don't see much difference I am still loosing a tiny bit each month.

Im just thinking of food constantly!
i don’t eat large amounts of course, i have good restriction but i eat small amounts of different things frequently.
i don’t feel I’ve fixed my relationship with food, i still am infatuated with food.
I don’t know how to fix this.
i don’t just eat for sustenance, i eat because i enjoy food.
i feel like this destines me to fail!! And i don’t know how to fix it.
My weight loss is good but i know it won’t stay that way if i can’t fix this.

I went through this too and still have days like this. Find a distraction, do you like art and craft ? I make cupcakes then give them away lol much to the delight of the recipient. I have also taken up kayaking with a friend. I think the trick is to have something else to do. I struggle on days were I don't have much to do and nightshifts when it's quiet.

    Be kind to yourself,

how far out are you ? I am 1 year in a few days it's hard but you will get there.
