  1. Thank you for your insights. My doctor never told me to stay away from carbs but in my post op book it says healthy carbs. I had sweet potatoes in soft diet stage and I do well with them. l am aware that they are the smallest portion on your plate. Also while grain bread in mentioned. idk when my stomach will let me but I believe there's a balance.
  2. Hi everyone. This is my second day on full diet and I have been sick all day. I had Turkey sausage and boiled egg and the pepperidge farm oat light bread toasted. I tried to eat the protein first but I would take a small bite of the toast intermittently. Needless to say I could not finish it all. When I felt myself approaching full, I stopped. But shortly after, I started feeling a little nauseous and my stomach argued with me loudly. Was I doing to much with this attempt to eat a meal?
  3. Thank you Viking beast. I admitted, I realized I jumped in too fast. I have had boiled egg on soft foods, so it must have been adding the Turkey sausage and diet bread. I admit, I could not eat even half of it. I am a carnivore, and was so excited to be able to eat meat again. I am also a sandwich person, so the thought of being able to make a small sandwich was enticing to me. Obviously, my new anatomy said no.
  4. I am not an idiot. every program is different
  5. Thank you all for the advice. I really appreciate it. I will progress slowly from now on. So excited to finally eat, at least, the diet food I had been eating pre surgery that I started out the gate too fast! Lol!
  6. Hi all, I had gastric sleeve on 23 September 2021. I have had stomach pain all day. It is a pretty sharp cramp. Called my doctor's office and they said just take the mylanta and famotadine and see if it settles. I had beans last night, mashed in the food processor. could this be just bad gas pain? Mind you, I had plenty of gas last night from the beans, does this mean no more beans for me? that my stomach is rejecting this particular food. I have had canned refried beans and no pain, but yesterday I made a pot myself and put them in the food processor.

NO. They were made from dry beans.

Exactly, what the nurse said. I pureed those beans in the food processor, so they were paste. I think it is gas also, but man, it's knocked me off my feet today! Thank you for your insight.

    September Surgery Buddies!!

I know right! I go see my doctor for the first time after surgery tomorrow. I have had protein shakes, broth, some diluted and strained lobster bisque( just needed a little fat) stomach tolerated it okay. Gatorade and I wanted to put some matcha powder in my tea. idk if that will hurt or not. I have very little energy to exercise.

    September Surgery Buddies!!

Today Mark's 1 week post op for me. The dietitian who saw me in the hospital marked 9-30-21, today, is when I could start full liquids. you should be right around that time also. I hope it gets better😊

    September Surgery Buddies!!

Hi, congrats on your surgery! I had my sleeve done on 9- 23-21, so we're about in the same time frame post op. Are you drinking your shakes? They should help. I ordered fit and lean powder from Amazon, actually way before I had my surgery. I mix 2tbs chocolate pb2 or PB fit with 8 oz of coconut milk or almond milk- unsweetened and some ice cubes in my ninja blender and it is filling. I also think there is alot of fiber in this particular powder so I experience a little more gas than usual. today is one week out for me and I tolerate the milk pretty good. my problem was drinking too big a sips of all my liquid. Good luck! surgery buddie!
  16. Hi, I'm newly sleeved. 9-23-2021. I was very apprehensive the day of surgery. I did not deal with nausea very much right after surgery. I was so groggy because they pumped me full of anti nausea medication and pain meds. you will want to sleep. They had my iv on full blast so I would constantly be getting up to pee. I dry heaved once when I tried to take some tylenol 3 because the pills were too big for me to take at the time. I had my surgery at a bariatric center of excellence. they took very good care of me. Be encouraged, you are starting a new phase of your life. it is well worth it. You've come this far. Stay on these forums and ask a lot of questions. You will do awesome! we are all in this together.
  17. Hi. I am still in the post op liquid phase. Surgery was September 23. I keep hearing people talk about chest hurting. Is that a sign you've over filled your pouch or drank too fast? I'm still trying to understand what I am feeling and why.

    September Surgery Buddies!!

I am doing okay. I am just trying to navigate what does this sensation mean? when to know if I've drank too much or too fast. Trying to listen to my body. I'm healing pretty fast. I've not really been too hungry, at least that's what I think is going on untill I smell someone cooking something in the house or I see my son bring home a pizza! Lol!

    Chest pain and VGS

Thank you so much for the answers! I am so new, just trying to understand my body cues. Neither my surgeon nor my bariatric coordinator described to me what doing this or that might feel like with my new stomach.
