Well good luck tomorrow. I'm sure everything will go fine. Great job with losing 14 lbs on your pre op. Can't wait to hear how it all went.

I made it!
Congratulations! I am glad everything went smoothly for you. It makes me less nervous for my first surgery hearing positive ones like yours.

new, no surgery yet, is it hard to do?
I love that line. I'm going to write on a card and place in on my refrigerator as a reminder before I eat.:wink2:

How long after your surgery did you go back to work?
Paula, I'm also a teacher and I will be going back one week later. I'm not missing any days with students, however, I will miss the first staff development day for teachers. There is a teacher in my building who had the surgery done on a Wednesday and was back to work the following Monday. Just take it easy. Take care.

realize band vs lap band
The lap band does have a thin port like the Realize band. My doctor called it a lower profile port. You can ask for it when you get your surgery.

Getting a realize band in Oct- a couple of questions
I believe you are referring to a lower profile port. Basically the port is thinner. It is about half to one third thinner then the regular port. The area on top of the port for receiving fills is the same size. When you see your doctor again ask if you can see the the lower profile port. My wife and I are both being banded next week and we will be getting the lower profile port.

my appetite is raging
Are you banded? Have you had any fills? I'm only asking b/c from what I've been told (I'm not a doctor) the band is suppose to help you feel full sooner so you will not be hungry.

I'm so glad I got banded
Thank you for sharing. I will be banded soon and it is encouraging hearing positive stories like yours. I'm glad to hear you have a supportive family as well. Keep us posted on your weight loss.

What the hell is wrong with people?
Where was the car parked? I'm thinking it must have been in a parking lot with other people walking by. It is ashame no one saw the child especially if the child got out of his car seat and was moving around.

5K, 1/2 marathon, marathon anyone?
I did a half marathon several years ago. I would love to do another and maybe even a full marathon some day. I followed a run/walk approach. I followed a system from Runner's World. I love run/walking. There is a half marathon in my area every spring. I'm sort of hoping to lose enough to begin training for it. But if I can't run/walk it this spring I hope to definitely do it the year after.

Anyone trying this without ANY fills?
Well georgebals I'm guessing you must have felt offended b/c you haven't had any fills yet. I never meant to offend you. I just do not see the reason on focusing on NOT getting a fill. Getting a fill is what most people end up having to do with this surgery. However, some people succeed with out fills. You for one stated you lost a lot of weight without a fill and that is GREAT. We all hope to have and share in your success. Regardless, I really do not think it justifies your rudeness on the thread.

I cheated....now what?
Kim, you will be fine. Forget about it and move on with your diet. You managed ten days with no problems. WOW! Focus on the positive and continue on with your diet until surgery. Try not to stress any more and please do not accept any of the guilt trips being placed on you here from some of the responses.

Anyone trying this without ANY fills?
If you are losing weight and not feeling hungry then you do not necessarily need a fill. But what is the point of going through with this surgery and trying to reach your goal without getting a fill. Instead of trying to NOT get a fill, focus on eating healthy and exercising. If you constantly feeling hungry and not losing, then go and get a fill. There is not shame in getting one.

Off to a good start! Banded 8/11/08
I wanted to add that GNC also has an unflavored soy protein shake powder. I'm assuming it is similar to Unjury's. This way you can add some soy protein to anything you make or drink. I haven't tried it yet but want to soon.

Off to a good start! Banded 8/11/08
FYI - GNC now has some soy protein shakes as well as the whey protein. They have about 25 grams of soy protein per 8 oz. shake. Just thought I would let you know since you are a vegetarian. It may be a healthy option for you.

Naming your Band?

Blood Thinners
Thanks for the tip. I'm glad to hear you were still able to have your surgery.

finally banded!
Congratulations on being banded. I'm glad to hear you had a positive experience with Lehigh Valley. My wife and i were going to go there but earliest we would be banded would be February or March and we did not want to wait that long. Hopefully by then we will be approaching our goal weights.

How's the wardrobe?
I'm really sorry for you. It's ashame you have to go out and look for smaller pants. Yeah right! Enjoy the weight loss and go shopping! Have fun!

financialy unprepaired
Did you try writing a letter to the insurance company and see if they will make an exception. BC will end up spending more money on your other conditions then they will on the surgery.
