Crystal CW got a reaction from OutdoorsGirl in Any October 2021 Surgeries?
My sleeve is scheduled for 10/11. This is my first surgery and I’m doing an early pre-op diet before I start a real pre-op diet on Monday. I’m in the Dallas area

Crystal CW reacted to Rhondall in December 2020, where are you and how is it going for you? Are you feeling down because you stalled out and/or gained a few pounds - you are not alone...ready my journey...
I had my gastric sleeve surgery on December 29, 2020. I had been consistently losing weight until about 3 months ago. I have been at a 3 month stall and even gained about 3 pounds. I saw my surgeon yesterday and was a bit ashamed because I had gained. It was totally my own fault. I had stopped drinking my Protein Shakes and my appetite seemed to ha e picked up as well. I had began to eat more foods and I believe that has had a huge impact. From there, I began some unhealthy snacking and craving foods that I used to eat and gave in to the temptation. I had been stressed from life and work. Been having back spasms and unmotivated to workout. Today, I will begin my Protein shakes again and get up and move!! I changed my life by getting surgery to lose the weight and I must regain my motivation back! With the new way of life due to the pandemic, it has been hard to get out as much. I am determined to break this horrible cycle I have fell into, I can do this and so can you!!!

Crystal CW reacted to Tara O. in September Surgery Buddies!!
Yes, I have a lot of energy. I’m going a little stir-crazy already, and I’m only on day 5. I ended up taking 3 days off, and I’m going back at least half-days tomorrow.

Thank you all for your responses! I'm drinking coffee as I type! Lol. I've never had too bad of a coffee habit. Just 1 cup in the morning gets me through the day. I'm deciding to have it. Thanks!

Crystal CW reacted to Jaelzion in pre-op: one last binge
People refer to this as having "food funerals". I didn't have the opportunity because my surgery was scheduled so abruptly that I had to start the pre-op the same day I got my surgery date. But it's not an uncommon impulse.
The good thing to remember is that you can very likely enjoy those foods again. The post-op diet starts off pretty strict but by the time you are done losing weight you can eat almost anything (minus the one or two items that still upset some of our stomachs). Not as often and in smaller portions, but very few foods are off-limits forever (my bariatric team gave me two: carbonated drinks and popcorn).
In the two years since my surgery I've had Chick-Fil-A, Thai food, ice cream (non-dairy for me), and other goodies. I'm still not able to eat ground beef, so hamburgers are not on the menu. But since they don't sit well in my tummy, I don't miss them. Practically anything else, I can have if I really want it (just not often and not all together). Part of learning how to maintain is learning how to have an occasional indulgence without going into a destructive binge. So, you don't really need to have food funerals. You're not saying goodbye forever to most foods, just "I'll see you later".
Forgive yourself and look forward! Exciting times ahead. Hugs. 🤗

Crystal CW reacted to leebick in Hiatal hernia after already having the sleeve?
I am 5 years post-op from my sleeve surgery and 3 days post-op from my hernia repair. All my surgeon did was hernia repair with a dissolving mesh. The surgery notes said that >50% of my sleeve was residing in my esophagus, so I don't think it was a trivial repair- and she was able to do it laparoscopically, so win-win!!
