    Will the cold ever end?

Oh man I was hoping it would be temporary! I’ve always been cold all the time and now it’s even worse.. I already sleep with three blankets now and wear double layers and it’s not even proper winter yet 😭

    Need Recipes? Just ask!

Anything and everything please! I am struggling to think of yummy things lately!

    Finally!!

I don’t have any recommendations or anything because I’m only 10 weeks po but I do wanna wish you good luck!! And congrats on the wonderful news!! 😃

    Facial wrinkles

I follow Charlotte Parler on Instagram, she’s a skincare specialist with a lot of great tips and tricks!
  5. My cravings have changed a lot! I used to love pasta and now even thinking about it makes me feel queasy. I think it’s all ‘carby’ stuff for me, like bread or pizza too 🤢 I do still like the thought of sweet things, but I am not looking to find out what dumping feels like if I can help it!! I found a nice chocolate protein pudding that I can have now and again so that helps to not feel like I’m missing anything. My one most favourite food in the world however is chicken wings, and I am very much looking forward to making some of my own in the oven for Christmas. 😍

    Others noticing weight loss

I totally get where you’re coming from.. I also get uncomfortable because I hate knowing they’re looking at me and ‘sizing me up’ because I still feel super big, but it really depends on who is commenting. If it’s a random someone I would rather they just keep their thoughts to themselves, but I really do like when friends or family compliment me ☺️

    Last Supper

I had half a grilled bbq chicken with aioli and rustic bread from one of my favourite restaurants, man did I suffer afterwards with an IBS flare 😆

    Food Before and After Photos

I made myself a sort of salad for the first time po! Smoked chicken, diced (135g) Red bell pepper, diced (half) Yellow bell pepper, diced (half) Spring onion, sliced thin (1) One tablespoon of cream cheese Two teaspoons of mustard  I have heaps left over (I think 3 times what’s in the bowl below) so I think I’ll be having it for lunch tomorrow as well 😄.. hope my husband likes it too so it doesn’t go to waste. I don’t think I’ll finish all of it but it is yummy! 🥰

    Just for fun

I look forward to SHOPPING! I absolutely love it and haven’t been able to for years. Especially looking forward to buying some really nice pairs of tall boots 😁
  11. I have generalised anxiety disorder, but it’s no longer severe (not bc of surgery). I got to a place where I only saw my psychologist every couple of months for ‘routine maintenance’, but started seeing her more regularly before my surgery and now see her every three weeks po just to sort through all these feelings. I would really recommend working with a professional for support, ideally if possible someone who you already know and trust. Having someone who you can tell your deepest and darkest thoughts and fears to has lightened my load immensely po. The first week I was too tired to be anxious, but the two weeks after were a little rough. I have always self soothed with food and even though I prepared myself as much as possible beforehand, the reality of that comfort being taken away was difficult. I think I felt more gloomy and sorry for myself than anxious though.. although I do now struggle with some anxiety related to the weight loss (since +- 5 weeks po), but I really don’t think that’s because of any hormones (more me not believing in myself, which leads to a lot of my anxiety in the first place). I’m now 9 weeks po so I couldn’t tell you how it changes when weight loss slows down. Good luck with everything! 😄🌸

WHERE ARE MY AUGUST 2021 PEEPS?

Little update, I’ll be 9 weeks po tomorrow and have lost 50 pounds! I’m so happy 😁 it took me a while to notice the weight coming off because I still felt the same, but I now also weigh less than my husband for the first time ever and I think that flipped a switch!

    Get ready for my surgery

Be kind to yourself and also be proud of yourself! It’s a step on a difficult but worthwhile journey you’re already on. Remember you’ll be in good hands, all you need to do is show up! They do all the rest 🤗

What do you consider "Starting Weight"?

I use the weight I was on my first visit with the surgeon - it was also my highest weight ever.. and it stayed pretty stable until the pre-op liquid diet.

    Alcohol after Bypass

I was told to wait primarily because during the weight loss phase your liver is having to work like crazy to get rid of the toxins that your fat cells are releasing, and if you add alcohol to that could be very damaging.. and of course also the increased risk of alcoholism. Glad I wasn’t much of a drinker before (like.. 10 drinks a year maybe?) because dealing with food habits and changing those for the better is already a LOT! So much respect for all of you who are dealing with missing alcohol on top of everything else 🌸

    Pre-Op Liquid Diet Woes

I had a one week liquid diet before surgery where I could only have shakes/broth/water and I feel your pain ☹️ I would definitely contact your medical team to see if there’s anything you can have that will help. I was quite dizzy and out of it too by the end of it, and someone told me to just have some salt (what I did was lick my hand and sprinkle some like doing a tequila shot) and that did help the nausea and feeling like I was going to pass out any minute. But I really don’t know if that would be okay for you to try as some people need to be careful with salt! Take good care of yourself, drink plenty of water and rest! 🤗

How long for hospital weight to drop off?

I felt swollen for about two days, don’t know if I looked swollen but I could not have cared less if I did at that time 🤣 My surgeon & nutritionist are very strict in that I am only allowed to weigh myself once a week, so I never noticed the fluids on the scale!

    Dry patches on skin

I also can’t seem to make myself put lotion on consistently! I found some wet skin moisturiser at Lush that I love using 😁 you use it after soap and you can just rinse it off in the shower and towel dry!! No more sticky feeling!!
  19. Congratulations!! You must be so proud of yourself, I am super happy for you 🥳🥳🙌🙌
  20. I live in Belgium and it’s a really normal thing here to get a ‘chill pill’ as soon as you get taken to your room before surgery, so I don’t see why that would be anything but an ordinary question! Taking some the day before to sleep better because of health conditions sounds like a very responsible decision. Just make sure your anaesthesiologist knows about it too. 😊
  21. I used to have to push the armrests of my desk chair out to fit my butt.. not anymore, and there’s room to spare!

I’m 4 months after gastric bypass

Congrats!! That’s a whopping 100 lbs difference, you must be so proud! 🤗
  23. I’ve actually been cooking since week 1 po! Just not for myself but for my husband 😁 (now week 7 po) I really enjoy making his food and I was so worried beforehand that I would lose that completely, or feel envious of other people’s food options/portion sizes but I am actually completely unbothered!! At first I would make a tiny and uncomplicated separate dish for myself, but now I am progressing I am more and more able to ‘merge’ our food 😁 I am sure not everyone feels like this, and you never know how you will end up feeling until you get there, but maybe this gives you a little hope! 🤗

    Weight-loss funnies

  25. I had this too and still get the occasional burning feeling even now at 7 weeks po. It is A LOT less painful now though (thank goodness!). What helped me was holding a heated (not too hot!) cherry pit pillow on my tummy. Maybe that’ll help you too 💕 hope you feel better soon on congrats and your surgery!
