  1. Hi Pang, I was banded in the States and my Doctor told me it wasn't necessary that I should enjoy my last few days of normal eating. I know each Dr. is different though. Debe Banded 7/22/08 have lost 62lbs
  2. So sorry to hear about your Father, I know what you are going through. My Mom has been gone for quite some time now and it still seems like yesterday. It never goes away and (the dreaded phrase time will heal) really does work, it eases your pain a little at a time so you can eventually start to recompose your life. We are all hear for you, hang in there. Debbie
  3. Sounds like your doing great, but I think maybe after next fill wait 2-3 wks before deciding on another, you don't won't to wake up one morning and not be able to eat or drink anything, slow and steady as they say is best. Debe
  4. Hi, I don't travel alot but we do go to dinner out quite a bit, usally I order appetizer, or small salad with grilled meat, or soup. If you are still in liquids phase, order veggie soup eat just broth. Keep Protein bars in your suitcase, ck for low sugar and carbs you don't won't to defeat your purpose. Kraft makes cheese sticks lowfat, just peel and enjoy. I love my fat free cottage cheese and lite fruit cup for breakfast. You just have to be aware of what you can tolerate, keep protein powder to add to skim milk. Hope some of this helps, good luck, you can do it. Debe
  5. Wow great job, keep up the good work, things do get better after a month or so,you will see. I had surgery 7/22/08 in Mobile Al, have lost a total of 32lbs, haven't had a fill yet Dr. says as long as losing hold off, just stay with portions and try, try, try to get Protein in the best thing I have found is protein shots or bullets at GNC, they are pricey but sooo worth it, (1)one shot is 42 grms whey protein. Best of luck Debe

  8. Hello, everyone I haven't posted much but read eveyday, I have a situation developing, my neighbor down street had lap band in April 08, he has lost 85lbs, my mother in law keeps telling me eveytime I see her how much he has lost and wants to know how much I have lost, my surgery wasn't until July 08, I have lost 30lbs, she keeps insinuating that I must be doing something wrong, because my weight isn't just falling off like crazy, I haven't even had a fill, as long as I am losing Dr. said he didn't think I needed one. I get so frustrated with her, she is a very nice person, but doesn't think before she speaks or how it might affect the person talking to. Sorry so long just had to vent, thanks for listening. Debe

Wow, Richard that is great!!! I had my band placed 7/22/08, in Mobile,Al. I have lost 24lbs so far. My Dr. did not require a pre-op diet. I know what you mean about alcohol, I try to take the calories into account for the day. I only drink wine, mostly Chardanay, or White Zin. Would love a beer but rather scared to try it. Keep up the great work!! Debe
  13. Hi, was banaded on 7/22/08, by Dr. Joseph Galloway in Mobile Al, The most wonderful surgeon I ever met. I had no complications from surgery, everything went well, went home the day after. Did my full liquids now onto soft foods, follow-up appt. was 7/31/08, had lost 15 lbs, Dr. Joe doesn't require a two week pre-op. So my surgery was on a Tues, my husband took me to New Orleans the week-end before surgery and we had all our fav foods, gumbo, muffellate, shrimp po' boys, jambalaya, it was wonderful. I can honestly say I don't even think of this as a diet, it just a new way of making food choices, for you better health. I don't go back for six weeks unless problems, but I feel great. Debe
  14. Hi Tiff, I had my surgery on 7/22/08, I kept telling myself and everyone I was ready for it to be over with, I only had to wait three weeks I was self pay, the morning of surgery Had my shower and Hubby got his and we were off to hosp. I was fine until I got to the back and was waiting for them to take me to op room, then my head started playing with me, I felt trapped and kept thinking do I really want to do this? My Hubby and Dad and Sister were there and gave me the support I needed. I can truthfully say it is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I woke up pain wasn't anything like I was expecting, and they had a pain med hooked to the iv all I had to do was hit the button when I needed it, I hardly ever used it, I went home the next day after up gi, was scared about that too I didn't have anything but water and then I was told I had to drink this liquid during this x-ray, I was scared I was going to get sick, but after nothing to eat it tasted rather good, I did have a really sore throat , after surgery for about three days. Just use secrets throat loz. I have my first appt thrus.7/31/08 after surgery, knowing now what I didn't know then I would do it all over again, your best friend will become a body pillow, try to get one it possible, you can roll onto it and support your stomach. Lots of luck Debe
