New to posting but been reading and researching the forums for quite some time. I began my journey with the supervised weight loss program in January and had went to a seminar in June. My first appointment with the surgeon was in August. I had my sleep study, psych eval and nutritional consult in September. My insurance was approved on Oct 6th, only 3 days after the request was submitted(Highmark BCBS). I have a surgery date scheduled for November 17th with Dr. Miles at St. Vincent's East in Birmingham, AL.

Good for you. I too am from Alabama and I will be banded by Dr. Cottingham at Brookwood in 2 weeks. I know you will find a lot of useful info on this site as well as very nice and caring people that will answer any questions or fears you might have as well as celebrate your success and help you through the bad times too. Welcome! I'm from Cleveland, Alabama. I started my 6 months supervised weight loss this month and have my first meeting with Dr. Miles the day after your surgery.

Congrats on your approval. I was banded by Dr. Miles on May 6, 2008. It has been a great experience so far with few issues. Dr. Miles is a great surgeon and you will be in great hands. This site is a great place for questions and inspiration. Look forward to seeing your progress!

Hello, I am from Mobile, Al. I was banded by Dr. Joseph Galloway in Mobile 7/22/08, I have not had any complications at all, no fill yet. I have an appointment Thurs. may be a fill or not depending on what he says, still losing though.
