    Help with protein

I also struggled with protein shakes. Once I was allowed coffee, I began whisking chocolate protein powder in my morning coffee. I use chocolate Premier Protein powder. Two scoops is a serving (30 grams of protein). I use one scoop in each mug of coffee and usually have two cups in the morning. Coffee followed by some cottage cheese or yogurt later in the morning gets me close to 50 grams of protein before lunch. Like others have mentioned, I was also told not to worry too much about protein at this point. You will be able to consume a little more in time.

WHERE ARE MY AUGUST 2021 PEEPS?

I also drank soups during my liquid phase but instead of using water, I used bone broth or veggie protein broth. That adds about 10 grams of protein. I found it at WalMart with the canned soups but it is in a box. I had a much easier time drinking soup in order to get my protein rather than a protein shake.

WHERE ARE MY AUGUST 2021 PEEPS?

My surgery was August 16, released the following day. Also had an unplanned hiatal hernia repaired. By day 5, I felt great. Like most, I struggle to get my protein and liquids in, don't love the taste of shakes. I lost 10 pounds on the pre surgery diet, which for my doctor was an 800 calorie diet using food purchased through the clinic and another 10 or so in the past week. Food has not been a temptation at all so far. I do enjoy cooking so I made some "meals" for the pureed stage. I found a Joie XL ice cube tray with a lid at TJ Maxx. Each cube hold 2 oz. so I cooked and pureed cauliflower (with some cheese for protein) and also made the ricotta bake. I then froze them in the ice cube tray and once they were frozen, I transferred them into a freezer bag until next week. Seven days out from surgery and absolutely no regrets!
