oldandtired got a reaction from Old Salt in Medicare costs & Requirement
Mine (I have Medicare as well as Tricare) had (this is from memory) 6 months of meeting with my primary, filling out a paper each time about whatever diet you are on, plus how much weight you lost on it. one meeting (all this before surgery) with a psych, one meeting with the dietitian, getting stomach scoped. My BMI was >35, and I had high blood pressure, so I qualified.

LOL I told everyone. If you tell one or two, it will "get around" anyway. I tell it as if I was gutsy to get it done...and I think we are just that!!

OK, you're smart, you work it out.
Why do you think your goals are your goals? Your medical team getting it's jollies at your expense, or do they believe they serve an honest purpose? What purpose might that be? [Snark not intended]
Let's consider some facts: 60g of Protein is considered a healthy amount of protein for non-ops and post-ops alike. Same with minerals and Vitamins that are often supplemented to ensure minimum values, op and non-op alike. Similarly for liquids, again for op and non-op alike.
Missing these goals one day, or even a few, may not impact overall heath in the long-run. But missing them too frequently for too long may be a different story.
So, knowing these facts you should be able to make your choice. Were it me, I wouldn't fret about the occasional lapse. But that's me. But, knowing these facts, when I'm ill I can't even force myself to eat for days or weeks at a time, which has caused problems to compound.
It comes down to the habits you choose to build. Under normal circumstances I push myself to eat even when I don't feel like it as preparation for those times when I simply can't.
    Your mileage may vary.
    Good luck,
    Tek

I just walked straight up the stairs, quickly, without getting out of breath, because I needed to get something from my bedroom. Didn't even think about it.
I used to have to haul myself up with my arms, stopping on each step.
Now I'm looking for excuses to take the stairs just to show off!

That's sort of non-specific-- if you are going to the doctor about having weight loss surgery, he will tell you/give you a diet that you must adhere to. As I understand it, it is to reduce the size of your liver, so that it doesn't get in the way during surgery. You need to ask the doc.

I am a little over 3 years post op now. The past year I put no effort in to maintain or monitor and only this week got back on the scale for the first time and the results are what you would expect. I gained back 40lbs. The biggest difference in year 2 vs year 3 is the return of hunger. The sleeve prevents me from overeating at meals but it will not stop grazing and if you eat calorie dense highly processed foods you will not get restriction. This is a frustrating setback and I have no one to blame but myself.
The honeymoon doesnt last forever and when it does wear off you will have a battle if you did not form good habits.

I have found that anesthesia will cause memory loss - for a little while. You are doing a great job losing! Your hormones are having a fit too. Talk to a professional about your depression!

For me, it was nausea. I was given some nausea suppositories 😳 and that got old FAST. I was not typical, and my nausea continues today, though not as bad. If the medicine/dosage is not doing the trick, ask the doc/your medical team...

When I turned 50, my friends at the exercise class I go to got me a t-shirt that I loved but never wore because it didn't quite fit. I didn't want to make them feel bad, so never told them unless they asked. That was June 2020. My first class back after surgery was yesterday and I wore the shirt and they noticed. Very happy moment!
