I had a really odd NSV that ended up being a bit expensive lol. I’m only 4 weeks post op, but I was forced into a corporate meeting where I was going to have a wear a suit. I was PISSED. I have smaller and larger sized suits, but I was between the sizes I currently owned. Wasn’t about to invest in another suit. I managed to find something halfway decent at Kohls, and I was able to fit into a X-Large or Large off the rack. (the large size was generous and stretch, of course). Then I freaked out because all of the dress shoes I have are too narrow and small. I went to DSW and they were having a boot sale. Well, I went wild. I was so happy to be able to fit into tall REGULAR calf sized boots that I bought, ahem, SEVERAL pairs. 💰💵💸🤑. I couldn’t find pumps that fit, so I resurrected a pair of old pumps I had for the suit 🤣. My husband was confused because I went to buy dress shoes and walked out with two HUGE bags of boots. Lol. Good thing he loves me. Pic of me with a Christmas dress I’m planning to wear, and red knee high boots!

First off, AWESOME boots! Secondly, I had a similar NSV. Mine were riding boots, though. (I ride horses). ❤️

I went to visit a potential preschool for my daughter with my wife last week. We were shown around and the teacher asked us to sit in one of the classes to explain their programs to us etc. They only had those small kindergarten chairs / stools. I asked for an adult chair and they didn't have any on that floor. I ended up setting on the kids chair and I was so worried that the poor chair was going to break. Well it didn't and it was OK when we left 😂. I wanted to ask my wife to take a photo of me sitting on that chair but the teacher was there haha. My daughter was so happy that I was sitting on the table and playing with her. Best feeling ever

My fingers are prettier. While typing on my phone I noticed my thumb looks thinner & longer. My brother visited for the first time in months & he said "even your hands look different" like wow, i have lady hands now lol

    Okay here goes...
This just happened a few minutes ago. I was sitting here reading through the forum, looked down and noticed my legs were crossed. When the heck did that happen. I'm so happy. 😁

Okay, here's a weird one and an unclear "victory":
I was going through airport security and after they did the backscatter screen, the one where they look at your naked body through your clothes with X-rays, they called me aside and did a very invasive and thorough pat-down, focusing on my groin area. This has never happened to me before, save at the Kathmandu airport where I'm pretty sure everyone just gets grabbed by the crotch as part of standard procedure.
As far as I can gather, I've now lost enough weight that my panniculus looks less like a fat belly and more like a low-slung bum bag full of drugs/explosives on their machine. Hoping that as it deflates, it looks less alarming and triggers fewer groin probings.

My watch fell off. I always liked to wear my watch loose, more like a Bracelet, but the other day i was reaching for something and whoop! There it went. (Cheap watch, didn't hurt it.) But I just stood there, like I had done a magic trick, lol. Slipped it back on, wiggled it off. Gotta find someone to take out links. 😋

It's only been about 3 weeks for me, but the swelling in my hands and feet has really gone down. It's inflammation from early arthritis. To my utter delight, I was able to wear my late mother's favorite ring today! I got a little teary-eyed when I realized it fit again.
(And now I am getting a little teary-eyed just typing this...sorry.)

I had two C-sections, both back in the day when you were seriously cut open. AND a hysterectomy, same way. This surgery for me, a piece of cake. Yes, I hurt-but I used the pain pills they gave me. But for me personally? not bad at all. I had the full blown bypass.

I agree; be persistent. Polite (at first) but persistent, You are paying (Or have paid) them. Too many people just accept the treatment they are given.

oldandtired reacted to Tufflaw in I wanted to make an exercise suggestion - c25k
Hi, I wanted to make a suggestion for those looking for a good way to exercise post-surgery. For those thinking of starting a jogging regimen but hate the thought of actually running, I strongly recommend a program called c25k, which is short for Couch to 5K. The idea is that by following this program, you go from sitting on your couch doing nothing to running a full 5K (3.1 miles) in 9 weeks.
I've always hated running but doing something like a 5K was always on my bucket list, so I decided to give it a try. I've tried the c25k program in the past (years ago) with some decent results, but never stuck with it.
So now that I've lost some decent weight post-surgery I wanted to try to kickstart my metabolism again and get some good exercise so I decided to try the program again. And it was a success! I followed the program, ran three times a week using my c25k app, and made it to the end. After I finished I ran three 5Ks a week for a few weeks until I ran in an organized 5K event where I placed 18th out of 63, and 2nd place for my gender/age group!
Now, for someone who always hated running, I can't believe I'm doing this, but a few weeks ago I started the b210k program (Bridge to 10K), which is a six week program that gets you from running a 5K to running a 10K (6.2 miles). Today was day 1 of week 3, and I ran 3 intervals of 1.8 miles each with .1 mile walking in between, for a total running of 5.4 miles.
If you've ever thought of trying to start jogging but didn't have a plan or thought it was impossible, give this a shot, you won't regret it. It starts off really easy and gradually builds up.
There are a ton of free and paid apps you can use. I personally use Rundouble which has a free version, and you can pay to unlock additional programs. I've also heard very good things about an app called Nike Running Club, which is also free. I've also tried Zombies Run 5K which is pretty neat.
Best of luck to whoever gives this a shot, hope you'll post your progress here!
Bonus pictures of me and my daughter after the 5K (she ran the kids fun run and took 2nd place):

I have only just had enough room in my tummy for fruit. I struggle with skins so peel everything. So, grapes are off my menu, no time to peel a grape. I eat 4 or 5 small meals a day and to up my calories and give me more energy, I drink a homemade milkshake every day. I still like banana and Peanut Butter in my milk. Breakfast is a Protein yogurt with raspberries, or porridge and banana. My fav small snack is a sliced peeled apple with an ounce of cheese. I have always eaten loads of healthy fruit. I tend to buy what they label kids fruit, small apples or small snack packs of cut fruits. A normal pack means lots get wasted.
No food is off my menu if I can stomach it. Will I ever eat rice, noodles or Pasta again? I don't know this. I don't want to be on a diet anymore. I just want to keep my restriction to limit me.

I got sleeved one year ago! I have a long ways to go, and I'm not where I want to be; however, I'll get there! After comparing my before and after pics, I can see the difference. I'm hoping I can kick the carbs and sugars that I've allowed back in my life so I can reach my goal. These pictures are one year apart!

So I see a lot of you mentioning how people treat you at the store, or stare, etc.
I don't know if it is depending where we all live, or if I am really oblivious to it. I at 422 lbs do not ever recall these type of things happening to or around me?
Like I said maybe I just never noticed, I don't know. But no one has ever stared in my grocery cart or stared so bad they ran into something.
I have had a*****e kids stare or one time this boy walked up to me at the baseball field and was just like "your big, really big" LoL!
It makes me curious though, was I oblivious or did it just not happen?
I am still big, but I guess "normal big" not "huge" If that makes sense.
I will definitely be paying more attention now to compare things now and when I am a normal thinner size and see how it differs.

This is the second post I have seen re: lack of post-op follow-up from a clinic in Mexico. I don't care what country they are in, this is unacceptable. They advertise for patients in other locations, so they should have a system in place for follow-up with traveling patients.
Here's my suggestion: locate the clinic's account on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, or however you located this surgeon (perhaps it was a referral network based here). Then use the power of social media to make sure they contact you -- or at least inform other potential patients that they are post-op deadbeats. Post about the problems you are having, their failure to follow-up, and tag/link them. Use the most popular hashtags for your procedure (the more the better), so that others who look up this procedure will know to avoid them. If nothing else, you will be doing a public service.
If it is a US-based physician or business that referred you, contact them (be persistent!) until they start helping you get a hold of the Mexico clinic. If they don't help, and they earned a referral fee***, start preservation of evidence linking the referral source to the deadbeat clinic (marketing emails, screenshots of call logs on your phone, and print & save as PDF their website pages linking to the clinic). Then consult a lawyer. Vigorously advocate for your own health. You are not helpless.
Lastly, pull up your health insurance plan or policy, and find out if there is an exclusion for the treatment you need now (some policies exclude treatment for consequences of cosmetic surgery and non-emergency procedures overseas). If no exclusion, make an appointment with an in-network GI or bariatric specialist, and get the help you need. I hope it is nothing -- or something easily fixed. I am rooting for you!
***Edit: You probably cannot tell; this will come out in discovery later on. But assume they get a fee, because this is standard in most professions. Even YouTubers get a cut from Amazon if you click on product links.
Sorry for the long ranty post. As a professional and a business owner, this really frosts me!

Well, I went to Florida this past week. Did 4 days at Disney/Universal parks. Walked 7 or MORE miles EVERY DAY!
What??? 7 MILES A DAY!! I would have had to stop and take breaks, maybe quit half way through the day previously!
My feet hurt, but everyone's did. So I don't take that as a weight issue at this point, just A LOT OF WALKING!
