I can guarantee you are not the first. If your doctor sticks his nose up in the air at you, find another--when you feel like you can.

Kiddo, get a second opinion. ALL DOCS MAKE MISTAKES. Find another that does this and go for that second opinion.

Well, I have not had surgery yet, but have started the process. Going to have the bypass unless the doc says otherwise. I am 68 (!) years old, 4-11 and 195 lbs. Personally, the joy will be be fitting into allllll the clothes I have handing in my closet!

Honestly, it was rough in the beginning — Constipation and really bad gas pains (nothing from the surgery). Once I got that figured out and passed the two week mark it got better every day. And when I added more foods and being able to walk a little and not being tired all the time, it’s been a blessing. Good luck to l look forward to hearing your progress! And message me if you want. 💗

Used to say it wasn’t a real night out unless there was a haze of hairspray in the bathroom & all you could smell was Taft. Remember the big black cans of super hold Silhouette hair spray in the 80s (or maybe you’re too young). Superglue in a can. The only thing guaranteed to hold those gravity defying hairstyles we had back then. Lol!

Just regular. I tried the "thickening" ones. All they did was strip my hair, made it straw-like. I DO use a lot of gel and hairspray, tho.

This is not the answer to your question, but...
I am...older... and I have thinning hair as well. I have used Rogaine on and off over the years, and it does help. I get fine fuzz, which helps hide the scalp. I also use a colored dry Shampoo to camouflage the bad spots, and lo and behold, that topomax helps too. I guess it works, as my daughter came with me when I had my hair washed and cut, and she said she never knew my hair was thin...

We’re only advised to drink what is the recommended intake for everybody - 2litres or 64 ounces a day. More if you reside in a hot climate &/or perspire a lot. Water flushes toxins out your body, aids brain function, improves your skin, takes pressure off your hearts as your blood is easier to pump around your bodies, regulates your body temperature, etc. Our body is 60% water & some organs are more than that. If you feel thirsty, your body is already in a water deficit.
The good news is you don’t just have to drink water. Any liquids count. Just don’t make caffeinated drinks the main source. Your post surgery Protein Shakes, broths, Soups, etc. will all count too. I get my intake from a combination of still water, flat sparkling water (I like the minerally taste as a break from only plain water which sometimes can feel heavy to drink), green tea & extra milk in my rolled oats. Add a squeeze of lemon, lime or other citrus to your water. In the weeks post surgery I doubled the water needed to make my shakes & hydralite (the boost of energy & electrolytes were helpful).
I keep water beside my bed so I drink during the night & in my car (drink when I get in, when I get out & at every red light). I also find it easier to drink from a glass.

You won't croak, but will feel better if you stay hydrated. I mix it up with Crystal Lite, Diet Iced tea, etc.

Caffeine increases stomach acid, our new stomachs are healing, the additional stomach acid can be too harsh on an healing stomach and perhaps cause acid reflux. coffee must be a bit harsher than tea though, most guidelines seem to be around coffee.
Some surgeons say no coffee forever, others say no coffee for a period of time, some surgeons have no guidelines whatsover.
For the first six to twelve months or so best to follow your own surgeon's guidelines around caffeine/coffee.

Then again, what she is saying may be mixed with worry about you going into surgery. Not all of us can articulate our feelings. Do what makes you happy.

Nah, I'll just lose enough weight not to need one. I don't mind asking, I just want to get to the place that the seatbelt fits me normally.

Well you will be there (not needing one) soon enough. I just didn’t know how often you travel and someone on here mentioned buying one and I thought it was a good option to pass along.

I am looking forward to seeing old friends! I'd been too ashamed because my weight had gotten so high, I didn't want to see anyone I used to know. I'm going home for Thanksgiving and have already reached out to people to meet and catch up. Can't wait!

It’s been 2 months since I had surgery..at 5e first month the best news I received was that my A1C was at prediabetic #. I was at 7.8% a1c before surgery, 25 days after surgery my A1c went down to 5.8%. I’m also looking forward to the summer 2022 where I can finally wear a 2 piece bikini and have a somewhat even tan. Every summer I end up looking like an Oreo cookie, dark legs, dark back and arms and extremely pale midsection.

They sell them on Amazon. If you brought it with you, you could be more discreet than having to ask for one. Just until you get down to not needing one. Just a thought.
