DemiW got a reaction from WendyO in Any 45+ year old women on here with gastric bypass experience?
I turned 61 in September but had my surgery August 18, 2021. I’m 2 months out. I’ve lost over 35 lbs the first month. I continue to lose on a weekly basis. I’m not only counting pounds but inches too. Everyday it’s a struggle but I’m determined NOT to be the biggest one at the Christmas party again this year!

I’m on my 12 day and it’s been Clear Liquids only!! I fell off the wagon one day and had sushi and shrimp fried rice. I couldn’t help it. I felt so bad afterwards!

I wanted the sleeve but after an endoscope was done, large hitial hernia, some esophagus issues and a serious case of acid reflux, my doctors aid the bypass was what I needed. I’ve called him about my weight and he says “oh that’s normal”.. God I hope I will not look like a malnourished Skelton! -

Surgery date is August 12th, and I'm ready! A little nervous, but ready.

I wonder why your doctor put you on such a strict pre-op diet especially due to your weight being on the low end. My starting weight was slightly higher than yours and my doctor put me on a 10 day, and those with a higher BMI got 2, 3, 4 weeks, for example. Maybe call him and tell him your weight and see what he/she says.

If you are missing food so badly, just drink a ton of Water and eat some sugar free Jello or sugar free pudding. It helps to be able to eat something, anything. You can do it, don't give up. Read a book or watch a movie to get your mind distracted.

Hi there, I’m scheduled for August 18th. Scared? Heck yes!
14 day liquid diet and I have fell off wagon! But also think I have lost too much weight. I’m down to 164. I started my journey in January. I was 178lbs at 5’0 with pre-existing conditions. High bp, high cholesterol, GERD, and a large hiatal hernia. Liquid diet is killing me. I miss my sushi, shrimp fried rice! UUUURRGGHH!
All alone in Houston

I was glad for the pain pump. It helps keep your tummy numb. I came home with mine and was instructed to remove it three days later. I think they are very common now for WLS surgery.
The liquid diet is super hard and very trying at times, but you can do it! I was on liquids for 15 Days and once it was over I was so glad. I had surgery on July 15 and yesterday I got to move to normal foods. Just try to remember this is temporary.
