  1. Hi everyone! So I am hoping to maybe get some recommendations from this lovely community. I need good walking shoes, I am supposed to be at 60 minutes of exercise a day, 6 days a week by the time I have surgery(I have about a month and a half left of supervised diet, 2 visits left!) The issue is I have been putting off new shoes for months but had my wake up call when I took my dog for a brisk 15 minute walk last night and today my feet and leg muscles hurt so much(I even tried my work slip on Crocs thinking I had issues from my sneakers due to support and it made zero difference last night). I can get the exercise in (I love hiking and walking my dog now that I no longer live on the surface of the sun) but shoes have to be addressed.
From what the internet tells me, I have supination-I tend to walk on the outside of my feet(evident in the countless pairs of shoes ruined when I wore through the material on the sides). If anyone can throw me recommendations based on what worked for you personally I would be eternally grateful! I can only read so many "lists of best walking shoes for overweight women with supination" since they are all over the place...I plan to check out the Asics outlet store by my work and maybe Academy for New Balance(did I mention I'm on a super tight budget?[][]budget for shoes is around 50-100)
Thanks so much, y'all are the best!

  2. I had the gastric bypass the end of April and have lost 25 lbs over the last 2.5 months.. I feel my weight loss has literally halted here. Does anyone have advice on changes they made when they noticed stalls? I drink over 50ozs of Water a day a Protein Shake and yogurt { Danon light and fit with 12 grams Protein and also try to eat some oatmeal for Breakfast and veggies and grilled chicken for dinner. Along with waking 2 miles every day. I’m following all of the advice but have literally only lost 1 lb in the last 2 weeks which is very frustrating. I’m shocked to see how slow my weight loss has been with such a calorie deficit.has anyone else experienced this issue and if so do you have any advice? My nutritionist does not advise using the shakes more than once a day but they do offer a lot of Protein. I’m curious to hear about others experiences and what foods they have chosen that helped in their weight loss journey…Thank you in advance!
Sleeved on May10th lost 62 so far, but I am.having the same.issues and not knowing what to eat just dowloaded some sleeve cookbook on kindle. This past week I been up in down around same.numbers. My question do you retain.liquids? It could also be.

  3. I’m sorry you’re having a difficult time. The surgery, dietary changes, etc. seem to stir up a lot of emotions & sometimes we need support to work our way through them. It is likely anxiety that is driving your desire for food, your poor sleep patterns, emotions, etc. Finding a therapist or counsellor to talk to will be very beneficial.
The surgery can help you lose weight but you have to be in the right emotional place to understand how & why you eat & to make the changes to take full advantage of the surgery.
We do lose at our own rate. Some more slowly, some more quickly. Both are right because every pound you lose is a win. Your 13lbs loss is great. I lost about 7kgs (about 15lbs) in my first 4 weeks so pretty similar.
Thank you and you are absolutely correct. My family doctor wants me to get counseling which I asked.for. It is hard when you are doing it on your own with really no support. No one to help me so emotionally is taking over. As of today I am 62pounds down will be 2 months in 3 days i failed.to put correct date May10th sleeved. Thank for advice.

  4. Be patient... don’t rush the process.. follow everything to a tee... I am 5 yrs post op and I lost my weight wayyyyyyyy to fast and wish I lost it slower ...
The food, the intake, at times I do not want to get out of bed. I feel more swollen and bigger in certain areas. The most difficult thing is what to eat and not since everything is more Keto. Vsg food is very different and again im in 3.0oz i dont count calories in which I should. My surgeons nutritionist told me.3 ounces. I do crave hot dog for some reason lol

  5. I thought I was feeling real hunger post surgery too but it turned out to be head hunger. I realized it because when I was distracted I could go Hours and actually forget to eat. I realized that I have a tendency to eat when I am board. I have a telehealth appointment with a therapist who specializes in disordered eating scheduled for next month to get to the bottom of this behavior so I don’t blow this opportunity. Most people do not have real hunger because the hunger hormones are in our stomach and they cut out such a large portion of it. When you are totally consumed by another task do you forget to eat?

I tend to eat or try around between 1 to 3 pm also stuck on what to eat. I only do 3 oz meals. Sorry correction my surgery was May 10th down 62 pounds. There are weeks i gain and lose same pounds.

  6. Some classic soft foods that are good for this would be oatmeal, cream of wheat, unsweetened apple sauce, refried Beans, greek yogurt, and mashed potatoes (lace them with some unflavored Protein powder to help your protein goals). As you noted, you don't need to do much carb loading, and it may be a while before you get toward 100 g, or even need to, but this will help with your energy levels (some surgeons specifically want their patients to do a bit of low level carb loading for this very reason.) As you have found, it can be hard to fit in much good, complex carbohydrate at this time (and some people actively avoid them owing to current diet fashions,) but that is part of why many experience low energy levels for quite a while after surgery. Most chalk it up to "you just had major surgery..." which is a factor, but mostly it is their diet.
I'm 1 month post op and I am now going through the low energy, dizziness, and not enough Water intake. Tired of fish, tuna, eggs, and chicken smh.

  7. I recently moved to soft foods, but noticed I wasn’t eating many carbs each day (less than 30 grams). Today I’ve had 10 grams. While I’m not looking to carb load, some carbs are healthy and needed (my program recommends less than 100 each day).

I’m just under three weeks post-op. Where did everyone get their carbs early on?
I eat babel laughing cow cheese

  8. Will be a month post op and I am having a hard time. I have only lost 13lbs down 4 dress sizes, but find myself forgetting to chew and now i am.entering 4th week getting hungrier more often then even before my surgery. I am very stressed and emotional. Really doing this on my own and I am having a hard time and scared of failing. I have not followed the times I need to eat sometimes I cant sleep and wake up late. There are times I am not hungry and times i eat a yogurt or something and im hungry within an hour.
