You just had MAJOR surgery; you can't expect to feel wonderful. It took me about 6 weeks to feel okay, and even then, I had a hard time with the food.
You should feel better each day or week. If you start to feel worse, reach out to your surgery center. Hang in there!

    Congratulations in advance
It was a smart move to turn down the home cooked meal for two reasons: sadly it’s not the safest practice for a first date to be at someone’s residence (if that applies to this scenario) and you can’t keep track of what is added to the food (if you can’t tolerate something).
As for an explanation on your food choices on a first date you, can say you’re nervous , not hungry or my personal favorite - no explanation at all. If the relationship continues then you can decide what and when to disclose that info.
    Hope all goes well ❤️

It's not obvious to me. Almost three months post-op, and my fairly robust social life hasn't been affected at all, except that many people have commented that I look terrific.

Unfortunately the closer to your goal, the slower your rate of weight loss. Some weeks it is like the scale barely moves like a stall. It can be very frustrating. A it if what happening is you are eating closer to what your body actually needs to function & you are nearing your new body set point (the weight your body is happy with). A thing to consider is that your new set point may not be the weight you want to be. To get to a lower weight you will have to work harder & then will have to continue to eat less & be more active to maintain at the lower weight.
Have a chat with your dietician & medical team. And if it is a persistent stall, sometimes a small tweak is all that is need to kick start your loss again.
Body dysmorphia affects all of us in some way. It can take a while to see ourselves as we are now & it can also be demoralising & disheartening. You may find it helpful to seek the support & assistance of a therapist. Many have found therapy has helped them a lot. Your surgeon &/or medical team should be able to recommend someone who can be of help.
    All the best.

The other day I posted that I got a size medium pair of shorts. I kind of thought it was a fluke, but today, I got a medium shirt and it is a PERFECT fit. I'm starting to think I might actually be a medium now. My larges are loose. It's just so hard to believe, as I've NEVER owned a medium piece of clothing in all my 50 years! [emoji1]

I know this is a common one but im particularly excited about it because I distinctly remember being 340 lbs and watching these "progress" videos of other women with towels wrapped around their body, showing how they gradually start fitting into bath towels as they lose weight and I remember feeling so sad and discouraged...like I didn't have it in me to get there too. I'm traveling and in a hotel right now and to my surprise this is the first time a regular "hotel" towel has wrapped all the way around my body without a humongous gap exposing my side and stomach. I am so happy about this I can't even explain it. It just confirms it for me that I can have the things I want, that I deserve them too and am just as strong to fight for them.

Photo: the first picture is from just a week preop, the second is from today. Yes...I had to censor my booty cheek lol that whole blue part is the towel that didn't close and that towel is bigger than this one I have here.

So, I was in Greece for a family vacation and we had a private food tour with just my parents (who are "average" sized) and we were discussing with the guide life in Greece, and she mentioned that recently there are kids in Greece who are fat and this is a real problem that the doctors are worried about. After the tour, I mentioned to my parents that I wondered if I was still really fat would she have made this comment, and my parents said they had wondered the same thing! I now "pass" for a "normal" person!

I bought a beautiful leather jacket twelve years ago in a size 8. When my surgeon asked me about my goal I honestly couldn’t give him a number, I said I just want that jacket to fit.

    IT FITS!! 😄😄

costco had jeans online on sale for $10. I bought the next four sizes smaller than the ones I was wearing before pre-op diet. They came 2 weeks PO. I’m returning two pairs. Too BIG lol.

As another example of how individual it is, I'd be thrilled with losing 3-4 pounds per week. That wouldn't be at all slow for me, much less "sloooooooow."

Weighed in this morning and realized my BMI has dropped below 30, so officially "overweight" instead of "obese"! Don't really feel any different but wanted to share.

Some instant pudding flavors are vegan, but do contain sugar -- so are unlikely to be on the bariatric hospital menu.

A couple of NSVs that have me happy in the past few weeks. First, I haven't taken metformin since surgery, and my A1C is 5.3. Woo hoo! I'd been concerned but seeing that number made me really happy. Secondly, I had my cardiologist check in today, and my echocardiogram is looking a little better! We'll see where we are in a year, but he is really happy with my progress. We may even need to drop my blood pressure medication again. The third one happened today at the pool. I managed to get out of the pool using one of the ladders instead of the steps. That was an exciting and unexpected win!

FutureSylph reacted to Esi in Frustrated with being unable to eat
It does stink. It’s sort of grieving the way we used to eat, and the comfort it provided.
It does get better. For example, I still come home from work and snack crackers, just wheat ones and fewer crackers. I still get my chocolate fix, just from calcium chews and occasionally Sugar Free Chocolate. Rarely I do have a “stress eat” moment…but I choose something very healthy and the restriction prevents me from overdoing it. This is all working, as the weight keeps coming off.
Your life will get better as your body heals. You’ll be able to blend in with other eaters, just in a healthy way. food will provide comfort again, just not in the type and amount from pre-surgery. It’s a terrific tool!
