    Learning every day:
Well, this is certainly a rollercoaster of emotions to say the least. I think I am in mourning for the way I used to eat. Trying to learn how to retrain my brain not to eat as much as it thinks it can eat. My new Tummy rebelled against me for a couple of days. I had dumping syndrome and vomiting (not on the same day) but it was pretty intense. I still think I can eat a whole egg in one sitting and I can't. I still think I can go out to eat and I can't (yet). My whole day seems to be consumed by trying to get the Vitamins in and other meds I take because I can't take them all at once like I used to do. There are so many things I "can't" do but let me tell you what I can do... I can walk! I can sleep without sleeping pills! I don't need my diabetes meds! The pain in my knees and hips is subsiding. I don't have to sit down after 10 minutes of activity.
    Indeed, the future looks BRIGHT!!!

I'm sorry to hear it's been going so poorly so far. I haven't experienced the same problems, but I can say that the problems I did experience got better as I adjusted, and as time passed. I was lucky in that the hospital had a list of my medications and they gave me my antidepressants and blood pressure medications when appropriate.
That being said, feeling regret within the first few weeks of surgery does seem to be pretty common on these forums at least. The good news is that regret also seems to be temporary, especially once people can start eating more normal foods. I hope you start feeling better soon!

Yes!!! It's definitely a struggle! In fact, if anyone dare suggest to me that I took the easy way out or this surgery is easy, I'm going to have to pray for strength not to give them a knuckle sandwich! lol
I'm two weeks post op and supposed to be able to eat mush. That has not been going well at all. I ground up some chicken and after the first bite started throwing up watery type substance... not the actual food. It's been and hour now and I am still extremely uncomfortable. I think my problem is, I am thinking with my old brain. I must concentrate on how to work with my new tummy... make friends with it and work with it rather than fight it mentally. There are so many things I hadn't thought of and maybe that's because we can't know how it's going to be until we get there. Now that I am here, I am determined to make it work. Walking as soon as you possibly can will help you immensely. At first I could only walk for 10 minutes, and then once around the track very slowly with several rests. I felt bad for my husband because he is alot fitter than I am so it was a crawl for him but after 2 weeks of getting out every day I can do once around the track, no stopping. I'm averaging between 4k to 5k on the fitbit.
I suffer from severe depression and have had some very low points, but here again, getting out of the house and walking for 10-20 minutes will help. This is a marathon, but with training we can do it.
All the best to you and you got this!

    Hey ladies!!!
So my update, I have lost 52lbs! None of my clothes fit and yes I have noticed a belly hang.
Trying to find my new sizes through online shopping due to the pandemic (everything’s still closed here in Ontario) has been a nightmare!!!
All my new pants were showing this weird pudgy lump that I was feeling really self conscious about. So went on to look for spanks.
Never wore spanks before... They suck, massively. Not sure but I got three different sizes and all of them suck. They constantly roll and shift. Waste of my money.
For those of you ladies who feel the same way a friend of mine introduced me to Zyia. They are a bit too pricey for my liking, but they are compressive leggings that don’t show my naughty bits when I bend over! They also don’t roll down so I’m not constantly trying to pull them up. They are super stretchy too, so I won’t have to continuously buy new pants during my journey. They are considers active wear but they have styles that look like regular leggings that I can wear them to work. I’ve invested in 5 pairs already!
You do have to find a rep to buy them, but my friend said they have reps in the states. Try googling “Zyia Active” For the ladies that are in Canada here is a link to the rep I buy from. She has events that you can buy from and get entered into a draw for 50%off an item! I’ve won! They ship all over Canada.

I just wanted to share, because these bad boys actually made me feel sexy in my body!! I know that can be an issues for some of us who were worried about the weight loss. My bulge is sucked right in and I looking fine AF.
Anyways, how are you ladies doing? I’m in that weird sizing where not really plus size but not really normal sizes... anyone got tips on tops and bras? I work in an office so def in need of professional looking tops.

I’m one week out from VSG so maybe a bit too early to weigh in (pun intended) but as my incisions heal and the surgical fluids are pretty much gone, my facial features are becoming more visible and I am thinking about my future.

I’m 40 years old and very active but will be much more agile without 120+ pounds of extra weight. Snowboarding in Whistler? Yep! Riding any rollercoaster or amusement park ride I want? Yep! Staying covered up at the beach? Nope! With this surgery, I essentially traded crap food and bad eating habits for LIVING. For life!

Find a supportive mental health team accustomed to working with bariatric patients, decide what’s most important to you, ask your doc a thousand questions, and pray/meditate/ponder over it.

Whatever inconveniences this surgery may or may not bring are nothing compared to the health problems that usually accompany obesity. I was tired of digging my grave with a knife and fork.

My initial consultation was at the end of May 2019 and my surgery was at the end of January 2020 (January 23rd). So 8 months. It took them about three weeks to approve it after it was submitted, but my surgery was delayed a month due to them being over scheduled in December 2019 and so they shoved me into January lol

I called the surgery center at the end of January and I'm being told I will have my surgery end of July or August... I have the last insurance required nutrition class June 4th, and I will still need to see my PCP, and I'm not sure exactly when I'll have a date. It's really been slooooowwwww. But I've taken the time to lose some weight, so that's good!

I had a similar experience. I started the requirements in feb and had them done mid April. The scheduler called late May. Surgery is June 8. So about 4minths. I ended up calling the office manager bc I kept getting the run around and they called me to schedule that afternoon. After you get scheduled there are even more appts that need done! Mine were pre surgical class, pre op testing, surgeon appt, primary care appt and a covid test.
I hope they contact you soon!

Mine took about 8 months from the initial consultation, including the 6-mo dietician requirement. They submitted to insurance within about 48 hours of my last dietician visit, insurance approved within 48 hours of that, and then they called me to schedule my pre-op appointment which was a week later. At the pre-op appointment, I got my surgery date, which was about 3 weeks after that. Hang in there!

Mine was a little over 5wks from 1st drs appt to surgery date. This included insurance approval [my insurance did not require mandatory classes, weigh in's]. But, I did reach out each wk to the coordinator and ask about status of my case and ask if there was a cancellation, I would like to take the spot. Luckily, there was a cancellation and I happened to be in their office that day and they asked if I would be available the following week for surgery.
Be your own advocate! If you know who the center's director is, reach out. Squeaky wheel and all that. Let them know you are serious and are motivated. Good Luck! 😊
