Looks at your progress of your weight loss.....71 pounds down since March is ALOT. Was there some weight loss post op? I worry I wont lose alot? I dont know why lol. I spoke with my Dr yesterday and she says most standard weight loss she sees post op in sleeve patients is about 30 lbs. She said she predicts I will soar past that as I have lost 14 lbs in 9 days....YAY......Congrats on your progress!! You are doing Awesome

Why did you choose VSG over other bariatric surgeries?
Ditto to everyone else's replies. Didnt want the rearranging of my insides and I felt the sleeve would be more beneficial for me and hopefully get the same results if not better than what is predicted. Im just totally stoked that my BMI has dropped 3 points since my surgery date of 5/3!!

Help!
I dont feel sick cooking for my family but I certainly do have the heightened sense of smells. Like a few others have mentioned I smell things that no one else in the house can smell lol. The only thing that happened to me post op was by day 6 I could no longer tolerate the commercial protein shakes. I gagged every time I tried to get it down. Finally by day 7 I just started making my own protein powdered smoothies and I feel great. I cant drink protein water either, too sweet and it gags me.......odd huh?

May 2022 surgery?
I had my sleeve on 5/3 and I have done great as well. Struggled a bit at first meeting fluid goal but I am doing better with that except today lol. I had no nausea, no pain after the 3rd day post op, Ive taken no pain medication since my 1 day stay at the hospital. About day 6/7 post op I had to kick the commercial protein shakes to the curb. I gagged on them when I tried to drink them. I choked them down but on day 7 I totally stopped them as I was tired of gagging. I then began making protein smoothies with sugar free whey isolate protein powder in creamy vanilla. I added Silk unsweetened almond milk with my protein powder. Now I have no problem drinking the smoothies I make. I am down 14 lbs in 9 days yay. Since starting the protein smoothies I feel GREAT. The hardest thing Ive had to deal with is the horrific constipation. Yes, I have been on 2 tablets twice daily of Colace every single day and although it may have softened an already hard stool I didnt see much help from it. So 2 days ago I added some much needed natural fiber and finally today I was able to lose 2 lbs of poo ? LMAO ?. I will certainly not allow that to happen EVER again lol.

Anyone Struggle Watching Your Family Eat?
Great idea! It doesnt bother me much only if its something I really liked before surgery but usually I can distract myself to take my mind off of it pretty quickly

Hitting Post Op Protein & 64 ozs Fluids
I was able to get some warm ramen beef seasoning down 8ozs worth, easier than other beef broths surprisingly. Alot of sodium but I think at the minute I need it. I look pale and feel weakly. I dont think Im dehydrating I think my body is trying to figure out what the hell is going on lol. I started my bariatric multi vitamin and calcium today hoping that will help as well. I feel good, no swelling or inflammation at all. I dont feel tired but I am still taking it easy as not alot of calories going in and I dont want to expel the small amount I have to quickly.

Hitting Post Op Protein & 64 ozs Fluids
I am doing better today I think. Still feel full all the time but at the moment I dont feel like puking from being so full lol. Ive got to change my mindset to yours.....not going to worry about it just do what I can. I am so ready to be off liquids but have another week to go.

Hitting Post Op Protein & 64 ozs Fluids
How long did it take you to reach Protein 60g and 64 ozs Fluids post op?? I am on day 4 post op and feel miserable trying to hit those goals. I feel bloated and over full. I pretty much feel like I could puke all day long, not from nausea issues but having too much fluids in me....ugh ?

Soaking in a tub after sleeve surgery

Anyone Struggle Watching Your Family Eat?
Im pretty pleased with myself, pre op while on liquid diet I was able to cook for my family without any trouble. Post Op while recovering my hubby is doing the cooking but I know when I am feeling better Ill be back to cooking dinner for my family. So just curious if anyone struggled with cooking or watching your family be able to eat meals you really like? So far I think Im handling it pretty good but Im sure Ill come to a point where Im going to want to eat the same thing.

Day 3 post op and protein shakes?
I hear ya! I am so fed up with protein shakes and protein water lol. Im going to have to figure something out soon lol
-
keep postponing to start my preop liquid diet.
My experience for myself was the first 3 days were a challenge but after about day four I was doing really good. By the time of my 2nd week I wasnt even hungry and just finished out the week. We'd all like to think it can be easy but its not when first starting out. Hang in there and you should be able to conquer it. I was a big Dt Coke drinker and I had to let that nemesis go. By the 2nd week I had no desire to drink Dt Coke. That made me happy

Psychology appt anxious
My eval was probably 30-45 mins long. I was asked questions about why I felt I overeat and I just explained how my childhood was no real set points on how much we should eat etc. I told her I just ate to eat no real reason other than I liked food. My psch eval was pretty low key nothing hard to answer

Am I being a big baby
It was weird the leg swelling was just yesterday. From the knee down my legs looked two times bigger than what they were! I put my compression leggings on and used a calf/lower leg massager on them. Then after a restless sleep in the recliner I thought ok I need to get in to my own bed and suffer through any pain and maybe the swelling will go down. Luckily it did. Normal size today and not swollen....yay! For the most part the gases dissipated by the evening of day 2 thank goodness. Now I just have the normal stinging pain of moving around but its much better today thats for sure. The only problem I am currently experiencing is feeling bloated or full. I doubt Im getting enough fluids in but today its been a real challenge for me. The protein shakes are hard for me to stomach now I can barely get through a fairlife in 4 hours. No BM yet so that may be my problem. Hoping tomorrow goes better for me!

May 2022 surgery?
As I mentioned in my post this is what my surgeon follows not every surgeon follows this rule. She prefers her patients do the 2 week liquid diet for optimal results. I never said this is what all surgeons follow I clearly stated this is the route my surgeon requires. You are following your surgeons guidelines just as I followed mine!

Did Anyone Pre-Med The Day of Surgery?
I was calm up to the point where they were wheeling me down. Once I was in the holding area my mind was racing with crazy thoughts. Then they came to get me for surgery, once I was wheeled into the operating room I said oh wow there sure is alot of machinery in here. The nurses said yes there is. Then I saw the table I was to be on and I said uuhhh is that the table I need to be on they said yes and I said oh boy its pretty narrow and higher in the air. I was told dont worry we will lift you. My reply was Im so sorry you have to lift my fat self up. No worries I was told we'll just lift you with the handles on the lift your laying on. The anesthesiologist was behind me the whole time on the ride down once I apologized for the nurses having to left me, the anesthesiologist must have zapped me with meds in my IV as I have no memory after I made that comment until I woke up in recovery saying I didnt feel well lol

Am I being a big baby
I have put my compression leggings back on and I have a calf/leg massager running on them right now to see if that elevates the swelling. If not Ill be calling first thing tomorrow morning

Wait, what????
I asked for pictures and got them lol. My husband was grossed out while my Dr and I discussed what she did and she said my liver was impressive and that she wouldnt have needed the retractor because the liver was only hanging over the stomach alittle bit. She was showing me everything in the pics lol. All while my hubby was in the corner gagging lol

Am I being a big baby
Had my surgery Tues came home yesterday evening. Im super sore which is to be expected, I can only cat nap. Most sleep I have gotten straight is 3 hours. I cannot get into my bed so Im in a recliner. My legs are massively swelling. Ive been making myself get up and walk laps in my house. Most everything I drink that has protein in it I gag and about throw up. Im wondering if Im just being a big baby? I always thought I had a high tolerance of pain but Im beginning to wonder now lol

Stomach Grumbling & Gurgling

May 2022 surgery?
Well, I have made it home from the hospital finally. Got home and straight into the shower I went. I am sore obviously but all in all so far so good. Dr commended me on the liver shrinkage. She said my liver was barely hanging over the stomach so she was very pleased about that. Everyone said I looked gray yesterday but I got my color back today. I havent had much problem drinking yet. Just a small amount thats for sure! The gas pain for me was after surgery and lasted until this morning. Its not excruciating but it can be painful at least for me.
