AnnaTM got a reaction from KimA-GA in $18K Out of Pocket or wait a year for full insurance coverage or just diet?
It is a personal decision but I would probably put in the time on the mental preparation that will be necessary for your long term success. Reading books on emotional eating, working exercise into routine and preparing for the overall lifestyle changes.

I am a little more than a year out from my gastric sleeve an initially lost around 75 lbs. I recently started back on my antidepressant and seem to crave carbs. I have put back on about 20 lbs and really need to get my snacking under control. In the past being on antidepressants was a major cause of my weight gain and I am trying to tame the carb monster since I started back on the meds. Any suggestions besides getting back to religiously tracking calories. I still work out about 4 days a week. I think focusing on my Protein intake may help with the carb cravings but I thought I would see if others have any recommendations.

I'm a little more than a year out and I don't always notice when I'm thirsty. I used to drink a lot of Water but now I monitor my intake to make sure I don't get dehydrated. I am guessing that this is due to having a smaller stomach and needing to drink and eat at different times. I can tell when I start getting dehydrated because I start feeling a little bit dizzy when I get up from a sitting.

I'm 52 and had the gastric sleeve surgery about 3 months ago. Down about 50lbs including the pre-surgery weight loss. That said, I am working out daily and keeping my calories low. The big difference is that my motivation to loose is high because I am seeing success on the scale. Still had to push through a long stall but so far it has been worth it. Still have at least 40 lbs to go.

I have been walking and biking. My leg are getting pretty strong but I noticed that my upper body was not. I decided to add in rowing and some weights for toning. My nutritionist also said the varying my exercise may help me get past my stall. It seems to be helping both the toning and the stall.

I tend to like Mexican and Indian food. I tried these red lentils dosas and they are a great alternative to tortillas. Really simple to make and a good whole food option. They are high in Protein and Fiber. I just used them like a tortilla with my pureed chicken mixed with enchilada sauce.

Are you sure you are getting enough fluids? I had my surgery on June 7th and my energy is definitely zapped but I am able to handle the stairs and some slow walks. I still take a nap every day and my body is still recovering but no dizziness. You might check in with your doctor to see if dehydration could be a factor.

So far I am drinking Water and a Protein elecrolyte drink. I will try some broth with Protein Powder tomorrow. I am relieved that I am able to stay hydrated but need to push my protein levels up. Still needing my pain meds but hoping I can switch to Tylenol tomorrow. I ended up having a hernia repair so maybe that is part of the reason my pain still lingering.

Just had my surgery on the 7th and I am back home. Seem to be okay with sipping liquids but doing it very slowly. I didn't take any of my Vitamins but plan to try and take them tomorrow.

I think there is a real advantage going into the surgery already in ketosis. It took me a good 3 or 4 day to get there but I made sure I did not add in any carbs during the pre surgery liquid diet. I had headaches the first three day of the liquid diet but I'm relieved that I won't be going through carb withdrawal right after surgery.
