Ladidi got a reaction from summerseeker in November Surgery Buddies!!!
I’m pre op. Probably surgery February or March. Just a few more nutrition sessions to complete. I’m in St. Louis also. Good luck to all. Can’t wait my turn. My program requires 2 week diet of no more than 1400 cals. No liquid diet thank goodness

Ladidi got a reaction from Tomo in What is your height, pre surgery weight and your 6 month post op weight?
I’m still pre op and after reading some the posts from people who have lost almost 100 pounds in 6 months but aren’t happy, I’ve decided to skip all these many wt. loss goals and just lose weight. Too stressful. I’d be jumping for joy if I ever lost 15 in one month.

You've lost 95 pounds in six months and you think that's slow? How much were you expecting to lose by now? I'm not trying to be snotty; I'm seriously asking why you're devastated rather than thrilled.

My program is very organized and upfront with all information. You see the nurse practitioner first after attending a seminar first. I was given a packet with everything I need to know. Vitamins Protein Shakes, post op meds, activity ,diet and meal suggestions. A total rundown on my insurance and what they require. And much more. I feel very fortunate to be in this program. Feel well informed.

Looking forward to not having to buy plus sized clothes. Fitting comfortably in an airplane seat. Just feeling good and proud about myself.

Finally reached my next major milestone...hit 150lbs, then dropped 1lb, and now 149lbs. I cannot remember the last time I was in the 140lbs. Maybe early 20's? I feel so energized and hopeful that my body will be stronger than ever to sustain me later in life because of this surgery! It's hard, no doubt, and at times, has been a bit overwhelming. But at the end of the day, all worth it! 😊

Wow I got my lap band in 2008 also. Just starting the revision process. Am prepared to self pay but hoping my insurance will cover surgery. My weight loss center staff is very good with working with insurance companies. Keeping my fingers crossed and doing a lot of praying.

I finally scheduled my initial visit with the nurse practitioner. Had to have UGI and submit revision paperwork from my lap band I had years ago. This was all done and turned in May 3,2021. So I am at the very start of my journey. Trying very hard to be patient.

Have you worked with a dietician/nutritionist before with your eating disorder? Also, have you seen a therapist? Perhaps ask your primary care provider for referrals to both if you aren’t already connected with someone. Sounds like a very tough situation, hang in there and definitely seek out help.

I understand how you feel...helpless and frustrated. When I had gastric sleeve surgery on 2/13/2014, it was in Tijuana (cost was less that $5,000 at the time)! This was because of insurance denying my initial attempt (I wasn't going to appeal since my health was in jeopardy. Now I need a revision to gastric bypass, I kinda expect the same response. Of course, now with COVID, Tijuana is high risk, if I was allowed to go and it was safe. But do not give up, nothing will change if you stop trying.
Pain stopped me from working in October 2018, and due to lots of meds, I have gained almost all the weight that I lost, and kept off over five years. I share your frustration-let's keep going until we get what we need!

Hey guys! I am scheduled for Nov 3 but am on a waiting list for an October slot. My surgeon is trying to work out an additional October date with the hospital. I have an October birthday so I really hope I can get in. This would be the best birthday present I could possibly give myself. I have been gaining steadily for the past 20 years and am approaching 300. My mom died last year after struggling with her health and obesity for her entire adult life. I want to honor her by taking control of my health and living more completely. I wish confidence, happiness, determination, and health for us all. Here's to good things, fall friends! 🧡🍁🍂🤎
