@james2021 thanks so much for reaching out and way to go on your achievement!! You've lost more than 1/3 of your starting weight. Starting again is always more challenging than staying the course, but being conscious and honest about it is crucial. I've been hovering in the same weight range for a couple months now as well and am at the stage where even a single pound lost is worth celebrating. I struggle with getting enough Protein (especially in the morning), avoiding carbs, and moving my body, which are old habits that got me to nearly 300 pounds. Sound familiar? I have a surgery on my right foot two days before Thanksgiving, so I'll be non-weight bearing for a couple months... and unable to drive. I'll be spending my winter/holidays healing and a big part will be to eat healthfully. Let's do this together! Let me know what you're doing toward your health and wellbeing. Won't it be great to spend next Spring and Summer feeling strong and amazing? Let's do this!

@pk88 so sorry to hear you are going through that, and amazing news that it was caught early. You're right, the surgery and being so on top of your health probably helped a lot!
After losing 110 lbs in the first 7 months, my weight has been stagnant for the last 11 months. I'm glad I haven't regained, but I really need to get back to basics, tracking, and start exercising in earnest. It's definitely getting a lot harder. I still want to lose another 50 lbs, at least!
Hope you are all doing well. ❤️

I'm a little past a year since my surgery, I got my surgery done May 19th 2021. My starting weight was 272lb and my current weight is 189lb I'm 5'9 and my goal is 172. I've had bad days to where I've eaten carbs and sugar but I do my best when I have cooked my meals ahead of time and have Protein early in my day! Thanks for everyone sharing their journey, it helps keep me going, knowing I'm not alone!

    I hit my one year tomorrow. I’ve lost 77.2. I’m 5’9”, 167.8 lb.

I’m at my lowest, been hanging out here the last couple months. Still hoping to get to 165. But happy where I’m at clothing size wise.
  6. Congrats!

ONE YEAR LATER… my surgery for gastric sleeve was on May 26, 2021… I have lost 90 pounds and still hope to lose about 20 pounds but I feel great. I started at 268 and wearing 2xl and size 20 pants and XL tops. They were all snug. I am now wearing 12-14 (size L) bottoms and M tops. I carry most of my weight from the waist down.

My surgery and recovery was not bad at all. I immediately began walking and am back up to walking/jogging 3-4 miles several times a week. I also do reformer Pilates four times a week. That has been a game changer for me.

I have had NO reflux and no other issues since surgery. For that I am most thankful. I don’t get hungry and minimal cravings. I don’t really eat a lot of dairy since surgery. It may be the only adverse outcome from surgery. I am looking forward to the warmer months so I can benefit from the fresh fruit and veggies that are available.

This surgery was a game changer for me. I am so glad I did it and am thankful for my surgical team and my husband for his amazing support. I am considering doing some skin removal but maybe not for another year to see where we are then.

The first photo is from the first day of my two week liquid diet before surgery and a photo taken last month. The other four are a series of photos one of my coworkers took over the past year - date stamped.

Wishing all of you a happy 1 year anniversary! Hope we can all continue to give as many success stories a year from now!!!

    Hi May Sleevers,
Well it's been less than 48 hours since my surgery, and I may be the exception to the rule, but I feel really good! Overnight in the hospital and got great care, good rest, and good meds. Home yesterday and taking it easy. No gas pains at all. A little rumbling and "bubbles" in my abdomen once in a while but no pain. This morning I gulped my gatorade and learned that's not the way to do it :).
Surgery was quick and I don't remember anything passed wheeling out of the prep room. Wishing those of you with upcoming dates an equally seamless beginning.
PS I am self pay with Dr. Shillingford in Boca Raton, FL, and he has my very highest regards (the hospital staff too!)

I'm loving these 1 year check-ins. Having VSG first thing in the morning, and I just sat outside watching the birds & squirrels play and questioning, "Do I really need to do this?" You all are helping me see the light. YES I DO. Wish me luck!

I hit about a 5 week stall in February where I was sure I'd be forever. I went back to rigorously consuming Protein only in the morning with no carbs until afternoon, no eating after 7pm and drinking as much Water as possible. It evidently triggered my metabolism and I have lost another 12 lbs since then. I still have a very strong restriction, so eating a big meal is off the charts uncomfortable for me. I pray that is always the case because my head still feels like more is better.
Cheers to our next year of HEALTH AND WELL BEING!

Yes, absolutely you can turn it around. I've had those (thankfully, short term) times too where carbs and sugar was all I wanted (and had)... your body is amazing, but do it NOW. Let us know how you are!

Hello all- I'm well and still losing, albeit much more slowly. I'm down from a size 24 pant to a size 14, which is probably more exciting to me even than the scale. I'm so glad to see the success everyone has had!! Way to go. I can honestly say WLS was the most important decision I have made in my life, aside from deciding to have kids. I'll be 64 this summer and feel better than I have in decades. This past year, many of you offered support and advice and just reading your stories buoyed me when I was feeling discouraged. Thank you! Cheers to the next stage for us all.

I think this person is trolling you all. I commend all of you for wanting to help this person if they are legitimate because that is what we do on here. This one seems too defiant and unwilling to consider any recommendations which just smacks of trolling. I wish this person the best if they are legit and implore them to get help right away if they are legit. But saying that they will seek help but it will not make a difference seems a little fishy. If someone does not think therapy will make a difference they simply do not go. If someone wants help they do not reject every offer of help that is provided. This post does not ring true for me. We have legitimate people on here that deserve our support and help.

Feelings of regret is completely normal and part of this journey. They refer to it as the “what have I done” stage. Our hormones are so out of whack for the first three months. You are not alone. I cried every day for the first two weeks after my sleeve surgery on April 12th. Today is the start of week 3 and instead of feeling sad, now I am in the angry stage. I’m sick and tired of my stupid food choices and eating the same boring things every day. I just want to eat like a normal person! I have to keep reminding myself that this is only temporary and part of the process.
Have you thought about therapy? I think it would be really helpful for you to share your feelings of regret with a therapist. I saw a therapist for two years for help with depression and a binge eating disorder. It was the best thing I ever did. Unfortunately, my therapist recently transferred to an office far away and I don’t want to start all over with a new therapist right now, but I know that if I start to feel that dark cloud looming over me and feel hopeless again, I will schedule to see anyone for help.

I don't hit my one year until the end of the month. I keep wondering if I'm at where I'm going to land. I've been hovering around the same weight for about 6 weeks now.
    I have lost 77 lbs, started at 245, now around 168. (For context I'm 5'9", 49 y.o.)
My highest adult weight was around 268..so in the grand scheme, I'm down 100 from my highest weight. I certainly have loose skin - and I have given consideration to getting my stomach and and arms done once things settle. I have still lost inches in the last couple months, so things are still changing.
I am prefectly fine if this where I land. I have practically replaced my entire wardrobe, at this size 😂

Today is my one year anniversary also! I feel like I have had the same ups, downs, and experiences that you have had as well. I have gone from 280 to 166 as of Sunday. I’m so afraid of regaining and also that I’m not at a healthy weight for my height (5’3) yet. Sometimes I have to remind myself of how far I’ve come. How far we have all come. It’s kind of mind boggling and amazing how far we have all come in a year. Congrats and happy one year!

Today marks one year exactly for me since my surgery and while these last few pounds have been so hard Im only 5 lbs from goal. I can not believe that its only been a year. I started my journey approx a year and a half ago and truly didn't think I would be this close to goal already.
I have had some slip ups, some stalls and have thrown up from overeating but I just get back on track and remind myself its not a race its not a competition its a life change

Checking in--happy 10 months to us! I'm down 113 pounds. My goal is to get down to 200, which is another 40 or so pounds. I've started feeling nervous lately because I can definitely eat more as of these last couple of months, but I know it's normal. Trying to move more (I HATE exercising) in small ways, and not slip into old habits with takeout, etc. How are you all doing?

Awesome progress! Congrats to you!! So jealous!!! I have lost like 73. Slow going due to my long a** stall! But I'm working on it (along with the dietician). Trying to figure out why this stall is even happening and why so long. But still sticking to plan and doing well when it comes to my diet and exercise.

I was the last day of May, so I’m just over 9 months out. I’m down 74.4. Only 1.8 away from the elusive “healthy” BMI. I would probably already be there, but I was in Florida for 22 days - I didn’t gain, but only lost 0.4 during that time (which is actually a huge win - since 2 weeks of that trip was at WDW)

I'm down about 80lbs. I've been stuck since the end of December though and I'd really like to lose another 20. Especially because I'd really like to try for another child in a few months so I'd like to get to my lowest before I risk gaining any with pregnancy. I finally made an appointment with my dietician for later this week so maybe he can help me get things moving again. I'm working on exercising more but with that comes an increased appetite so it's a hard balance.

I’m down 110 lbs and feeling pretty good. Starting to notice some sagging skin in some areas 👎 and not sure what to do about that. I’m down to my initial goal weight and not sure what is next in terms of goals. I definitely gotten my appetite back over the past few months and feeling a bit nervous about that, but so far have been able to stay on track. Congrats to everyone for their amazing work!!!
