ShoppGirl got a reaction from Arabesque in How much malabsorption do we have with calcium?
Thanks for your help. I am 42. I did have one bone density test at a career fair years ago but didn’t pay too much attention other than it was in the normal range. I haven’t had any blood tests yet. I have my Second post op appt in 10 days. I am not sure when they start doing labs. I just remembered my mom getting kidney stones when I was young and it was from an excess of some Vitamin so I didn’t want to be getting too much of anything.

ShoppGirl got a reaction from GreenTealael in Clothing Problems! What to do?
I have the same problem. Waiting to get my second COVID shot so I can feel comfortable while out at the thrift stores. I have shopped the thrift stores in the past and I have found that they do have a lot of extended sizes because people are always quick to get rid of their “fat clothes” and slower to get rid of their favorite “skinny clothes.” I plan to enlist my aunt and do a couple day long shopping spree searching for the next few sizes. I figure it’s payback from when I helped her shopping when she started new professional job and needed suits and dresses. 👍

I asked my surgeon and he said to count the shake as one of the 3 servings of Calcium supplement. Later (6-9 months post surgery) said to go down to just 1x day since I had 1-2 glasses of milk or a shake and 1-2 servings of Greek yogurt a day. Your body can only absorb 500mg every few hours anyway so if you drink a shake and have a supplement at the same time you wont benefit from the excess anyway.

Being able to walk into a store and buy “normal” sized clothes!! Still a long way to go, but I’ll take these size 14s from a 24!!

On the purée stage the baked ricotta dish many on here talk about really saved me. https://bariatricbits.com/single-serve-baked-ricotta/ some people add egg to it for extra Protein. It tastes very similar to lasagna but without the noodles.

ShoppGirl got a reaction from DoodlesMom in How long did you have to wait for your initial consult?
Mine was less than two weeks. Maybe they have a cancellation list that could get you in sooner. Or another doctor at the practice??

ShoppGirl got a reaction from fitgal2021 in Feeling weak 3 weeks post-op + acid reflux
If you are dehydrated that causes weakness. Have you considered calling dr to see if they can orchestrate you getting some fluids. They can do it out patient at hospital and others have said they have iv bars and people that come to your house even. That may be a good place to start.

ShoppGirl got a reaction from oneblessedchild1978 in Mental hunger
I cleared a path from one end of house to the other and I would just start walking when I felt head hunger. Just back and forth from one end to the other for about five minutes was long enough to distract me and then I would go back to whatever I was doing. I also do this while I’m on the phone or if I have any anxiety and according to Apple Watch I get like 30 exercise minutes a day without really trying.

ShoppGirl reacted to Arual85 in First Visit Complete!
I had my first visit today to begin my journey! I am lucky that I live in Cleveland and have lots of access to the Cleveland Clinic. My surgeon was great, very nice - thorough, answered all my questions and after learning about my history and concerns, we decided that the bypass was the best option for me. I was surprised as I went into it convinced that I wanted the sleeve but he obviously had much more knowledge than I do. Now I meet with the nutritionist and psychologist next week! He said to expect surgery around July/August!

ShoppGirl got a reaction from Steph82680 in Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?
Not sure if a lot of people know this (I didn’t) but you can go back to hospital as an out patient and get fluids. They put you in room with a chair and tv and hook you up to same iv you had in hospital. I had to go get two bags of fluids after I got home. I called dr and said urine was dark and they called hospital to set it up.just so you know it’s an option of you can’t correct it at home.

ShoppGirl got a reaction from Suzi_the_Q in SO EXCITED!
Yea back pain is difficult for some to empathize about because you can’t see the pain. I was in car accident and had back and neck pain and remember even getting eye rolls when I talked about it cause i looked young and healthy as can be. I’m glad you are back on track and 8 blocks is great. Woo Hoo!!

ShoppGirl got a reaction from Arabesque in Bowel movements
I had this on the liquid phase as well but not three times a day. You may want to talk to your team so you don’t get dehydrated during a time when it’s so hard to get in fluids.

ShoppGirl got a reaction from A1220M in Caffeine limits and guidelines
I was offered coffee in the hospital the morning after surgery. When I asked about it thinking it was a mistake he said one cup is fine to have per day.

After surgery I found that the Protein Shakes were too sweet. I have been drinking the clear Protein Drinks (premier protein) and am slowly going back to one shake a day since they are more nutritious. broth that you mix yourself is good so you can adjust it to your tastes which will change and for full liquid stage the cream of Soups were my go to (I mixed them with milk to make them a little creamier and I was able to add spices as tolorated so that helped). But definitely recommend having some clear Protein in case the shakes won’t go down as easy as expected.

They make anti nausea patch I had in hospital. Maybe you can use that at home.
