Being able to buy clothes "off the rack" rather than having to go to a DXL store. It's amazing the difference in cost. When I started the journey I had a 56-inch waist, which non-Big&Tall stores just don't stock.
I've been reluctant to invest a whole lot of money in clothes as I've been losing weight, as ideally I will continue to lose sizes for a bit longer, so why pay for clothes I'll (hopefully) only wear for a couple months. It's like the reverse of being a kid/teenager, when Mom would get frustrated that I outgrew clothes yet again.
However, at some point the old clothes start looking awful, like you're wearing a tent... not to mention heavy and uncomfortable AF. Being in a transition state with sizes and not wanting to spend money, I went to Wal-Mart and bought some $10.97 jeans... first time wearing jeans in over 30 years. Hard to wrap my brain around it... the jeans weren't unbearably uncomfortable. I was able to buy 44-inch waist and now several weeks later, they're already feeling a bit loose. My next shopping trip, it might be 42.
They had a bunch of dress shirts on clearance that rang up at $2. The XL (down from 3XL) fit easily. At that price, who cares if they fall apart in a few washes.
A whole new world: Being able to shop clothing sales and clearance. That hasn't been part of my life in many many decades.

    1. Who moved my car seat back? Oh, nobody. My butt is smaller and I'm sitting further back.
    2. What? Do gold necklaces stretch? Oh, no. My neck just got smaller and now the chain looks longer.
    3. Painting my own toenails.
    4. Fitting in most any chair.
    5. Not worrying about getting stuck in chairs with arms.
    6. Not worrying about a chair breaking (mostly outdoor chairs). Been there, done that.

Here are just a couple of the silly things that have made me smile the last couple weeks:
    1. I can buy cute underwear that are not made out of white flour sack material.
    2. I can put on my socks in the morning with out making strange sounds and grunting.
    3. When getting dressed to go somewhere the first thing out of my mouth is NOT "does this make me look fat!"

A lot more space between my tummy and the steering wheel, much roomier chairs.

Being able to help my husband build our new fence. I wouldn’t have been able to help much a year ago. Not sure if this is really a good thing 🙄😂

I also love being able to fold into smaller spaces.

Idk about weird but it was surprising when the towel fit around me again without a gap.

Completed day 11 of my pre op diet today. It has been far from easy but I am trying to learn to steer my thoughts away from the food Im craving by getting busy. My focus has to be on the end game. Having this outlet with people that actually understand what Im going through has helped me tremendously.

Hi everyone! This is my first time on this forum! My bypass surgery is scheduled for May 14th and I am both nervous and excited! I am starting to have doubts but it’s more about the apprehension of what could go wrong. I could use all the support I can get!!

Hello hello my May peeps! My date is May 10th. Having a VSG in Mexico. I leave Saturday and will be in San Diego for a couple days. Seeing the sights, drinking Clear Liquids, planting my face against restaurant windows in Old Town. Good times!
Pre-op hasn't been terrible as I was able to have chicken and veggies and sugar free popsicles but someone kept adding a teaspoon of blue cheese crumbles into my salad that first week. I live alone so not sure how that happened. And within a few days I got addicted to Protein Café Latte shakes and had to watch my intake Why I can't do anything in moderation, I'll never know! It's like I need to be addicted to something. Wish it was exercise but whatever.
I hope everyone with May surgeries and beyond are doing well and have a lifechanging experience!! I am so thankful to this forum!

I had my surgery yesterday. The gas pains were awful but after IV hydration and some pain meds I slept great and feel fantastic. It took me
All day to consume an 8oz Protein Shake

I did it! Surgery this morning. All went well. Not much pain right now but I do have iv meds. Done a couple of loops of the ward but need to do more. The pain I am feeling is definitely gas pain rather than my abdomen.

Yay I’m so happy for you! I’m still dealing with the abdominal gas 2 days out, but it’s definitely gotten better with the walking. I hope you continue to have a smooth recovery 🤗

Updating your stats would help some of us. If you are taller and/or weren't extremely overweight to begin with, then you won't lose super quickly. People who lose a lot are close to the 500-600 lb range to begin with. I started around 235 and 2 lbs a week for me is really good. Don't be discouraged. I know there are some veterans on this forum who lost slow and steadily for a long time and met/exceeded their goals. You'll get there 😊
