Still haven't budged much. I've only lost 4lbs in the last six days, as oppose to the 2lbs I was dropping a day for the first 2 weeks. I've been the same weight for the last 3 days. I got really depressed this morning. I feel like I have and am sacrificing too much to be experiencing this right now.

oneblessedchild1978 reacted to JazzyJess20 in Purée and stall?
I'm definitely experiencing the 3 week stall. I've lost only .6 lbs in the last 3 days. I've walked and know I've been consuming less than 1000 calories a day. Alittle scary, considering the cravings (sacrifices) I have had to repeatedly push down. After losing weight so rapidly within the first 2 weeks, this is a bit upsetting. I want to desperately get out of the 300s.

it's the infamous three week stall - right on schedule! Fear not - almost all of us experience that. Just stick to your program and stay off the scale for a few days. Rest assured your weight loss WILL start up again. Stalls usually last 1-3 weeks, and you'll likely encounter a few of them on your journey.

Read this and read it twice or three times, put it to memory the scale will make you crazy.
    you will fluctuate. Period.
your body retails Fluid, your body retains waste, it takes time.
It took time to put on and it will take time to take off.
Try not to weigh yourself daily, I know that is a super hard thing to do.
Your going to go up and down, and you will all out stall. It happens to all of us. All you can do is stay your course and know that as long as the trend is downward your making good progress
A good poop and pee can be the difference of a pound or pound and a half, the clothes you wear, how wet your hair is, the little things can make you crazy but the bottom line is if you weigh yourself weekly or biweekly you will see bigger changes in the numbers and the ounces won’t make you nuts!

Today I’m 3 weeks post op and I’m also on my second week of purée foods. So far I’ve lost 20lbs pounds, however on 4/6, I weighed myself and the scale indicated I gained a pound (yikes ), yesterday 4/7, it remained at the 1 pound gain and this morning 4/8 it still remained at the one pound gain, however I peed and stripped myself naked and it went down some ounces for a pound difference. I haven’t ate anything out the norm of tuna or salmon with pumpkin or avocado puréed. Anyone experienced this? Or have advice?

I am on puréed foods and I feel full with just a tad over the 2.0 oz. I am drinking my sips of liquid and my eyes still want everything. Is this normal? It is almost four weeks after surgery.

Here are just a couple of the silly things that have made me smile the last couple weeks:
    1. I can buy cute underwear that are not made out of white flour sack material.
    2. I can put on my socks in the morning with out making strange sounds and grunting.
    3. When getting dressed to go somewhere the first thing out of my mouth is NOT "does this make me look fat!"

It’s going! Lol Day 4 down. It’s mentally challenging more than anything. With all of the Protein Shakes I can’t say I’m overly hungry or anything but I do miss chewing. Jello and chewing ice pops have been helping a little with that.

Today was a little challenging because I cooked dinner for my family. The first 3 days my husband took over and I avoided being in the room with them while they ate lol

I was getting a little sick of the Premier Protein shakes after 3 days so I switched it up today and had the fairlife shakes. They’re really good! Also liking Gatorade Zero. 17 days to go!

I cleared a path from one end of house to the other and I would just start walking when I felt head hunger. Just back and forth from one end to the other for about five minutes was long enough to distract me and then I would go back to whatever I was doing. I also do this while I’m on the phone or if I have any anxiety and according to Apple Watch I get like 30 exercise minutes a day without really trying.

Well, I am on the pre-op diet and the mental hunger is real. I try to stay busy doing things to keep my mind off of food. Things like cleaning, walking my dogs, reading a book, doing work from home, etc. have helped distract me from my head hunger.

    @SanDiego Girl :
    Ok, first the disclaimers:
    Disclaimer 1: I am not a medical professional/nutritionist...just an avid reader/googler.
Disclaimer 2: The values below are very generalized and assumes that you have more or less an average metabolism, average functioning insulin regulation, average body fat percentage for your stats, etc. etc.
TL;DR: If you want to skip my very long-winded dissertation below, the gist of my message is this: you may want re-evaluate your calorie consumption-activity level combo, cut the sugar, and manage your expectations.
Now, your weight today is pretty much what it was when you had your metabolism study, so let's assume you still have a BMR of 1486.
This means that if you all you did all day was sit like a statue and breathe, then you would burn 1486 cals for just existing.
Your reported exercise can be classified as "Moderately Active" (30-60 mins of sustained elevated heart rate sessions 4-6 times a week). Add this to the regular activity of every day living (i.e., just moving), and your daily caloric needs would be approximately 2150 cals a day to MAINTAIN YOUR WEIGHT. To lose weight, you will need to consume under this amount (or up your activity levels)
    CALORIES
Without knowing exactly what's in your lunch salad, nor what consists of your meat/veggies dinner, nor what amount of each, I calculated the you are probably consuming about 1750 calories (I arbitrarily assigned 300 & 400 for each of lunch and dinner).
This means, using the oft-used statistic that a deficit (or gain) of 3500 cal results in a 1lb loss (or gain) of body weight, you theoretically should be losing on average 0.8 lbs a week. This assumes that you NEVER go over 1750 cals a day, and you sustain your current activity level. Based on your original post, it sounds like you aren't. **Note that this is not an exact science, and I personally think 3500=1lb is an overly simplistic assumption, but for the purposes of this post, lets just keep it simple. I digress...**
Soooo....if you would like to lose a bit more, a bit faster, try cutting your current cals by a couple hundred (your teams suggestion to aiming for 1200 is sound in this case). Your reported typical daily menu above includes 880 cals of JUST SNACKS. Perhaps try cutting out the Starbucks and 1/2 the nightly Dove chocolates. Doing this alone will save you 245 calories a day.
    SUGAR
Another more controversial suggestion would be to cut all (or drastically reduce) sugar/sweeteners. Not only is sugar poor nutritionally, excess amounts causes spikes in glucose levels, which may to lead insulin resistance: which means the cells in your body aren't as efficient at removing glucose in the blood, so it will store it as fat. Which is weight gain.
Further, it is theorized that sugar begets sugar. When you are eating it, you want more. So if you can white knuckle it for a few days and get it out of your system, it is suggested that you will find that your sugar cravings will subside.
    EXPECTATIONS
Lets say you keep your cal level at 1750 & moderate activity levels (and do not deviate from it). This still means you would theoretically still be losing 0.8 lbs a week. This also means you would reach your 180 goal in 50 weeks. Are you ok with this timeline? Can you sustain at most 1750 cals a day for 50 weeks? If you go above this level you will extend that timeline accordingly. Edited to add: remember that this 1750 max cal level will reduce as YOU reduce!
You are quite a ways out of surgery and unfortunately don't have the extra tailwind that recently sleeved people have. Its very easy to get frustrated and give up when your hard effort results in what is perceived as slow weight loss. The typical manifestation of this frustration is to eat (and usually its like pizza or Cookies and NOT carrots and yogourt). If you can figure out how to deal with the frustration for just longer periods of time (I mean no one actually expects this to be completely solved immediately by sheer will), you will already be a couple steps up in the game.
    Good Luck! ❤️
P.S. Am really sorry that this was so long.
P.P.S I think its worth noting here again in the postscript the Disclaimers noted above:
    Disclaimer 1: I am not a medical professional/nutritionist...just an avid reader/googler.
Disclaimer 2: The values below (sic) are very generalized and assumes that you have more or less an average metabolism, average functioning insulin regulation, average body fat percentage for your stats, etc. etc.

Everything went well I just had really bad gas pains on my left abdomen area and shoulders when I breathe in. Everyone keeps saying it’s normal but I always wonder if it’s a leak. I can’t even sleep on my left side or I get a sharp pain and if I get up it’s like a spasm of pain

I’m in Los Angeles! My surgery was initially for December 14 but it was canceled with the Covid surge.. canceled like literally a few days before I was supposed to go in 😢. I was so desperate actually found a doctor in another state and almost had it there but a few days before that surgery my doctor here in Los Angeles called and said that hospitals are open again for non emergency surgeries! So I’m relieved 😌 my liquid diet is two weeks (according to the lady at my surgeons office)although my dietitian said to do one week. So I’m not looking forward to having to do all that again

I am almost with ya. I’m March 24th.

arrington0711 I am close by. I’m in Orange County.

I went through Kaiser so I had to do months and months of classes. Surgeries were canceled right when I finished in December and I am FINALLY moving along again. I’m lucky that I continued to lose. I have the really strict dr and I’ve heard he will not schedule you if you gain weight 😬

Meeeeeee!! I’m booked for March 22nd too! Last time I booked I got cold feet and backed out (as it turns out it would have gotten cancelled anyway because we went into a 4 month lockdown that week) but this time I feel more confident and comfortable with my decision so it’s going ahead.
I’m starting a low carb diet this weekend until the day before surgery when it’s a liquid diet only for 24 hours. I’m starting from a “lower” BMI (26.6) and all my bloods looked great so my surgeon said I didn’t have to do the 2 week Meal Replacement diet thank goodness!
Where abouts are you having your surgery? I’m in Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺

Are cream of Soups, the 98% fat free kind, are these ok to eat while on the pre-op diet? They seem to have a lot of carbs and sodium but I know people use those are their staple. I bought a few yesterday and I had a cream of chicken and it was really good. So now I’m worried that maybe I shouldn’t have them? Please help! This also goes for the Sugar Free Chocolate and vanilla puddings, are these ok?
