    February 2021 bypassers?

My surgery was Feb 3. As far as I knew, everything went fine. My incisions hurt a bit but looked fine. Yesterday on the 4th the surgical PA came to tell me that when doc had me opened there was a lot of scar tissue and my intestines and colon are malrotated. Basically they lay in there flipped around. It's a congenital thing that happened in utero. Therefore mission was aborted. I'm not a candidate for VSG bc of my GERD and Barrett's esophagus. It feels odd going through the healing process of surgery (there are 6 incisions) and nothing was done. I'm annoyed that the surgeon that removed my gallbladder 20 years ago didn't deem it necessary to state. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Vitamin D 3

I have for a few years but that is because I have multiple sclerosis so my neurologist recommends it.

    February 2021 bypassers?

Thank you! I have one more day of liquids including protein shakes and soup and then the 24 hours prior just water. Today the preop diet was much more manageable. I still need to take before pictures and pack. I'm excited and trying to keep fear of the unknown down. I overthink and overplan and this forum has helped me not thinking I'm crazy 🙃

    Any teachers out there?

I work in healthcare and am planning on taking 2 weeks off after my GB. My surgeon said the big thing is not to lift anything more than 15 pounds (gallon of milk) for the first 4 weeks. Fortunately, my coworkers are all aware of this and have volunteered to move patients if they need an assist. I am concerned about fatigue afterwards but can take a nap during my 15 minute break if need be. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Kitchen gadgets

My weird little 13yo got a mini waffle maker for her birthday so that is perfect.. lol. Immersion blender makes a lot of sense and I wanted one for years! Thank you! Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. My RNY is scheduled for Feb 3 so I'm doing my last minute shopping. What kitchen gadgets have you found helpful post WLS? My initial thinking has been the following: blender, sieve, food scale, air fryer. Am I overthinking things or overlooking something obvious? Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app

    February 2021 bypassers?

I'm not really sure why some doctors do 1 week vs 2 weeks but it seems to vary. Today has been a bit better so far. Broth with unflavored protein powder for breakfast and a coffee flavored shake for lunch. They told me to limit caffeine and very minimum sugar (if any). Now that it is the weekend I'm trying to decide if wine counts as a liquid since I can't have any alcohol for 6 months after[emoji3] Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app

    February 2021 bypassers?

I'm scheduled for the 3rd so I'm 5 days away. The pre op part has not been fun but I'm managing. I had no idea how much food was a focus in my life so now I'm freaking out a little, wondering how I can possibly stick to the plan after. I'm just trying to remember that WLS is a tool to help and lean on that. Good luck all! Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app

I feel you. My date is Feb 3 so I've started my 1 week pre op diet. I was not expecting it to be so difficult! I have been keeping full with the liquids and protein shakes but my cravings have been nonstop. I'm hoping it gets easier.
