K, I really intended to write up a post on my 2 year anniversary (back in October!), but just never got around to it. I did make/update a little "progress" pic collage about a month ago, that again, I had meant to accompany a better-late-than-never anniversary post, but yep, just didn't get around to it.
Anyhoo....this pic has been sitting in my albums for over a month now, and since I honestly have no real intention to write up an anniversary post (I'm like 2 yrs + 4 months now, lol), I'm just gonna post it here so it doesn't go to waste:
    2 weeks pre-op: 235.0 lbs
    Surgery Date weight: 223.1 lbs
Goal Weight: 127 lbs (7 myths post op)
    Current weight: 113.9 (this morning)
P.S. I'll try to do a proper anniversary post at the 3 yr mark...lol

I’ve heard that stomach growling is normal after the surgery and does not mean you are hungry. Are you getting your Protein in? If you really are hungry Protein Shakes can help fill you up so you don’t want food as badly. Also distractions are great. Find an interesting tv show, play games with friends/family, go for a walk, read a book, or just take a nap. Keep yourself busy and it’ll be easier to ignore the hunger and not give in and eat food.

I am honestly not trying to be mean but I do not know how the doctor approved your surgery when you clearly have a lot of psychological issues with eating that you really should have addressed first. But since you can’t undo it now you need to talk to a psychologist as soon as possible who can help you work through your problems.

You can really hurt yourself by eating food that soon after surgery. You can die from doing that. It has happened, that’s why the doctors stress not to eat food that soon.

See a therapist, talk to a friend, but please follow the diet from now on so you do not hurt or kill yourself. You did this to be healthy. Good luck sweetheart, I know you can do it

To stay strong please find a psychologist to talk with. I am just starting and I have been working with a psychologist for a month now. YOU can do this ! Remember to focus one day at a time.
    Try post notes on mirrors
    “I am strong!”
    “My health is my reward”,
Make heart post with “I will love and take care of ME!”
anything that will give you hope.

First get it all out of your house. If you don’t have any junk food in your cupboards, you can’t eat it. Secondly, don’t buy it or get anyone to buy it for you. Thirdly, find a good therapist to support you with your anxiety & food issues. And finally, if you want the surgery to help you, pick yourself up & start back on your program. It’s up to you to make this work but never be afraid to ask for help.

It sounds like this might be more than about the food itself. Have you considered seeing a psychiatrist or therapist? I’ve heard so many times that this process is more mental than anything.

This is the most recent comparison that I have. SW (5/1/19) 327, VSG (12/17/19)- 264, RNY revision (8/11/20)- 211, Thanksgiving weight- 185
I had emergency surgery 12/26/20 so I haven’t taken a current photo lately but my current weight is 157, so 7lbs from goal.

I'm not active much anymore but always want to chime in on slow loss threads because I SO related during my loss phase. I averaged 6 pounds a month and had one double-digit month (month one, 11 pounds). It took me a year and a half to lose 107 pounds.
But - big BUT! I've kept it off for 9.5 years pretty effortlessly. That slower loss gives you extra time to work on the head side of weight loss. By the time I got to goal eating everything in moderation was just so natural to me that I never stopped and developed another food issue in maintenance. It's hard, but view this "extra" time as a blessing. Your body will have more time to adapt to weight loss, new habits, and new ideas before you enter the maintenance phase.
And don't be in a rush to enter maintenance! In hindsight, I can say maintenance is the more challenging part. It's accountability, it's strengthening those new habits, and it's for the rest of your life.

first picture was me before I started my six-month supervised diet (2014). I think I was at my highest weight ever. Second picture (from 2017) is of me when I was two years out of surgery (this was before I had my skin removal surgery, though...I had that in Aug 2018 and March 2019). Last one was of me on my 60th birthday (last year). I've put on some weight since the 2017 picture - but excess skin is gone!

BariatricBiter got a reaction from GreenTealael in Feeling sick, freezing and overheated at the same time... 8 days out from RNY
    Hi All,
Looking for some advice about some symptoms I'm having. First of all, there is the weirdness of temperature -- my nose, hands, and feet are freezing but the rest of me feels overheated -- yet I do not have a fever.
Also, I feel sick. Just crappy and ill. Just gross and like I have the flu or am sick to my stomach. Yes, there is gas and burps but it's more than that. I am struggling with both hydration and full liquids, though I am getting my 64 oz in a day. I don't want to drink or eat because I feel so horrible for the hours after.
I have slowed down my eating and drinking, set a timer for bites (again, full liquids so sips really), set a timer for sips of Water (I can not do flavored things like Crystal Light even though I lived on them pre-surgery) and still just feel bad.
Any advice? Is this all normal sounding? Honestly, I felt better before I started eating and drinking again. The first 3 days post-op were super smooth sailing and I had essentially no pain, gas or otherwise. Now I'm in the regrets -- which I knew were coming but it's still emotionally a lot.
    Thanks!
