  1. WOW! That is wonderful. Congratulations.
  2. Meschultz...I was nervous ordering the case...but I can only find it by the case. However, GNC said if I didn't like it, I could return the remaining bottles. Hopefully, since it is a sample pack, I'll like one of the flavors.
  3. Yall have some great ideas...thanks! I love the idea of freezing food now. All I've done so far is switch to decaf coffee, give up soda, and start with chewable Vitamins. I did order a sample pack of Isopure Protein drinks to try. The nutritionist recommended them.
  4. SarahJane...where did you get your Smashing Pumpkins? I love them!
  5. I'd like to add... cross my legs when sitting so I feel like a lady again and not a slug.
  6. Congratulations! Mine is the same day at St. Barnabas Hospital in NJ.
  7. Originally, they watned to scheduled me for 9/25, but I didn't think it would be wise to be recoving on a cruise. LOL I only have to do Clear liquids the day before the surgery. But, I do want to try to behave and watch what I eat on the cruise. I don't want the surgery postponed at all.
  8. I noticed I was doing the same thing. I've got to get it under control. I'm going on a cruise shortly before my surgery and I don't want to cause it to be postponed.
  9. I like the thought of beach houses. I'll try your advice. Thanks.
  10. Congratulations!
  11. I have told most of my family and most of my friends. So far, everyone has been very supportive. And, one sister and one cousin, both of who are heavier than me and have more medical problems, are now considering the surgery. My sister's doctor even told her she'd be a good candidate for the surgery when she brought it up last week. I even told my boss, who is my biggest supporter (next to my hubby) since she had gastric bypass a few years ago. However, I'm not telling my in-laws. They are critical enough about me. Nothing I do is good enough for them and I know it would only bring negative comments.
  12. I'm so excited that I actully have trouble sleeping sometimes...and it is still weeks away. It will go by so fast though. Especially since the week before I'm going on a cruise for my niece's wedding.
  13. Insurance approved me yesterday. I'm so excited. The doctor's office called and I now have my surgery date... OCTOBER 16th!
  14. Congratulations!! I started in Jjuly too, but put everything on hold to go take care of my mom for a week. I should here from insurance within the week.
  15. Congratulations! It's great that your boyfriend is so supportive. You'll do great.
  16. At my consultation they took a medical history and history of what I've done to lose weight. Then the doctor explained the entire procedure and what I could realistically expect and what was required of me. Then he set me up with a coordinator in his office to explain what I would need to do for insurance. Now that I've done all that, I'm just waiting on approval. I alternate between be excited and scared. It's a big step, but worth it to be healthy.
  17. Just curious...is there an average weight loss for the first month after surgery? I know it's supposed to be 1 to 2 pounds a week, but since this is such a change, I was wondering if there is a big difference up front.
  18. I've heard that exercising helps with the hanging skin. I'm hoping that's true...
  19. I had my visit with the nutritionist, the psychiatrist and my primary doctor to get the letters that my insurance required. It took me a few weeks to get the appointments done because in the middle of everything I had to go to Texas to take care of my mom. Now, I just have to wait on insurance to give approval. I hope it doesn't take too long. Anyone know what an estimated time frame is on insurance? It's just that since I've made up my mind to do this...I don't like waiting. :wink2: Plus, my niece just moved her wedding from January to October. I'd love to have it done and be finished with the liquid stage by then.
  20. The consultation went great. Dr. Nussbaum is very nice and his staff was very helpful. He said that this should work very well for me. So, now I have to get some blood work done and a few tests. Also, have to get letters of recommendation from my primary, my nutritionist and my psychiatrist for the insurance. Let's hope they don't make me wait too long.
  21. :cursing: I'm so excited that I could bust...I have my consultation today. Thanks to everyone here, I also have a list of questions for the doctor so I can get as much information from him as I can. It's great that the ball is really moving forward! I'm nervous that I'll get approved right away and then I'm nervous that insurance will make me wait. Anyone know about Qualcare in NJ?
  22. I have my consultation appointment with the doctor on Monday. The closer it gets, the more nervous I get. I guess I just get worried that I won't be approved or that it won't work for me. But, if I don't go, I will never know.
  23. You'll get a lot of support here. I've heard really good things about Dr. Ewing. I was researching him, but insurance dictates that I see Dr. Nussbaum at St. Barnabas. From what I've read here...it might take a bit to get the right restriction. Remember...18 lbs is wonderful!
  24. Thank you so much.
