Irritated
This is a good post for all people with the band. You have to educate yourself. I read books and many websites and the posts on this site, so I feel I have a good grasp. I knew to expect to be hungry during the liquies stage because I don't have any restriction yet...I learned that from this board. I'm still trying to educate my husband as to some of the specifics because he doesn't get it eventhough he went to through all the doctor's visits with me.

Rash at Port Incision-No coincidence
I was just getting ready to call the doctor. I'm only 11 days post-op, but developed red itchy bumps last night...the only difference is that it is around the port incision and the one next to it. So far it hasn't gotten any worse than what showed up last night. I've been putting bacitracin on my incisions to help them heal, and this stops the itching too.

Oh Crap!!!! HELP
DId you ever hear back from your doc? What was his advice? Before I left the hospital I was told not to chew gum (for gas reasons) and I miss it because I always did it at work. This just reminds me that I need to follow directions. I could definitely see me swallowing a piece without even thinking about it while working on a project.

Having Relations
Doc didn't say anything...but after about 4 days, I was fine. Although I do agree that the trapeze would probably be a really bad idea.

Banded yesterday....feel miserable
I was banded on Thursday, October 16th, and I really didn't feel close to normal until today. The gas pains are finally gone. The incision near the port is tender, but that is all.

89lbs off in 3 mon. but upset, Help
First, you've done amazing...just to keep to your schedule during a hard time is something to be proud of. I was just banded, so I'm not sure if these two pieces of advice actually work or not. But I met with a Dietician in the hospital before I was released and she told me that two things can affect my weightloss that have nothing to do with food. One, doing the same excersise routine over months...you have to change it up or you body adapts. Two, any Vitamin or mineral difficiencies can affect it. If those work, let us know. Best wishes. Bino

Surgery Stories
My surgery was last Thursday, the 16th. Can't say enough about how nice and helpful all the staff was at St. Barnabas hospital. My surgery was pushed back four hours, so I had several IV bags. But once I was in the OR room, they were so sweet and the next thing I knew I was in recovery. Very little pain. The oxygen up my nose was the worst thing. My roommate came in a few hours after me, we had the same surgeon. She was lovely. I really liked the morphine drip, but barely needed it. Mostly for the gas pain in my shoulder. My husband stayed overnight to get me anything I needed, although the nurses were on top of everything. I'm back to work today. Still feeling a little dizzy (I guess from anesthesia?), but otherwise okay.

Lap Band or Realize Band
My doctor uses both, but thought the lap band would work well for me, so that is what I got. Only four days out, but feeling good.

Hope everything went well and you are feeling good today! Best wishes from the pumkin patch.

6 Days out, and WOW !!!!
Congratulations! I'm only four days out, so I'm still on clear liquids per the doctor's orders. But they are filing me up so I don't mind them too much...my only regret was my husband and son eating mcdonald's at home yesterday. Boy did those fries smell great...told them not to do that again. :Dancing_biggrin: We'll see what the scale says when I go for my post-op visit on Friday. Keep up the great work!

Getting Really Nervous
It hit me last night...surgery is less than two days away. I hadn't been thinking about it since I was on a cruise at my niece's wedding (which was very beautiful, except that I gained weight ). But now the nerves are setting in. Am I making the right decision? What if something goes wrong? What if it all goes right, but I don't lose weight? I know this is the best decision I've made for me, but it is still nerve wracking!

Will I be a Smashing Pumpkin?
I started call my insurance as soon as I knew it had been submited. I called three days in a row, missed a couple and then was approved. The people I spoke to were really niced and wished me the best. Can't ever hurt to call  Have you heard from them yet?
