  1. Oh no, what's going on for you? I was 4 January, and just recently feel sociable again.

    Before and After Pics

I never thought I'd post pics of me in undies/bikini! But here goes. 20kgs lost so far. I have none of my full body at my heaviest, I couldn't stand to look at it. The two body pics are after 10kgs lost and after 20kgs lost. No regrets at all.

Spicy Soup 1 week post op

If you make a batch of soup for other people, try a wee teaspoon and see how that goes. It's slowly slowly in the first six months. Be prepared if it doesn't agree with you though 🙂 I personally would wait until you are tolerating more pureed foods.
  4. @DwGirl your status made me giggle for non-scale victories.  I thought I'd do my own since it got me thinking....

My boobs don't overflow over my bra.....

Undies don't roll over at the front.

I too, can cross my legs easily!

My shoes fit better, weird but true.

My wedding rings are loose and I don't have swollen fingers.

Tying my shoelaces isn't exhausting any more.

    🙂

  5. Today I could cry.  I am now in the "healthy BMI" range of 24.9 and only 10 weeks post op.

I didn't think I could be successful like this, but I trusted the process and follow all the rules.  Thank god for this tool.

    I "snuck" having WLS

I guess everyone is different. I found myself telling a few lies about why I needed WLS, and now I have the courage to tell people to mind their own business if they are negative about it. It's my life, my body, my decision, and it's the best one I could have made. So there! Naaaaaaaah! 🙂

    Why am I hungry?

A lot of people talk about head hunger, which I am just starting to recognise now (I am 10 weeks post op). I didn't feel any "hunger" or similar physical feeling for a long time, but I do feel empty in the morning. It is really hard to explain. Sorry I can't say anything to help here. If you are feeling hungry have you tried small sips of water? I remember being told that often hunger is actually thirst, but your brain doesn't recognise it from years of bad habits. Just a thought. Good luck with recovery, I am sure you'll do well 🙂
  8. Thanks for the advice, I agree. I felt terrible on Friday, washed out on Saturday, had no BM's until about half an hour ago and boy that was terrible. I do think it's really not gone down well. Fingers crossed it's all gone and I can just have a couple of days on some bland liquids to reset. I have to say, I thought I was having a bloody heart attack. The palpitations, racing heart, sweats etc were horrible.
  9. 10 weeks post op.  Had my first dumping episode last week, holy hell I thought I was having a heart attack!  It lasted a couple of hours, and was only really severe for half an hour.  Enough to scare the life out of me though!

Weight loss has slowed considerably but I'm ok with that.  I've been eating more mindfully and with variety, remembering my vitamins mostly, and drinking lots of fluid.  The day after the dumping session I felt really washed out and lacked energy.  An early night sorted that.

I've started having a few glasses of wine but worried it's going to fall into a bad habit (I do get a little complacent when watching my alcohol intake) so hubby and I have decided only one night a week and limit it to half a bottle between us.

    Winning!

    I Need Help...

The walking I can't really comment on, but if you want to update your status, go up to your name at the top of the page and to the right of your name you will see "create". Click that and there will be a status part of it. You can only do this on a PC not mobile device.

    I’m scare

Go straight to the doctor. This is not normal at all.

    Late dumping syndrome?

I am sure this is what I experienced on Friday last week, I'm a sleeve patient 10 weeks out. It was simply awful and I just had to sip water and ride it out. It took about 2-3 hours until I felt somewhat normal again but very washed out.
  13. 9 weeks post op today.  Gosh, observations are so many.....

I am finally back in the 70's (kilograms that is) which is my happy place - preferably the low 70's but I'm getting there.

My hair is dry, really dry.  Need more water and healthy oils.

I'm starting to feel thirst again, but gulping isn't a good feeling.  Sip sip sip all day.

My body transformation is astounding.  I can see contour in my shoulders, and my legs are back where they used to be when I was very active.

I tan a LOT better than I used to.  Weird, I don't know why, but we are at the end of our summer here in Australia and I have the BEST tan!  🙂

I've been more out and about doing things, feeling more motivated.

I become exhausted after a short amount of exercise.  This is incredibly frustrating.

    Alcohol hits me, HARD.... 😞

Poop is back!  Ha, I know, TMI.  But I am back pooping daily or every other day and they are normal woohoo.

I'm not scared to try all foods now, just in tiny amounts to begin with.

I was asked if I was ok the other day by a shop keeper at our local pet and pool store.  She thought I was ill.... 😞

My body self image is nothing like reality.  My imagination doesn't allow me to try on clothes that will actually fit me, I still feel fat.

Just my thoughts at 9 weeks.  NO REGRETS!!!!

    Caloric intake

I struggle to get over 500 to be honest. I'm a bit worried about it so my dietician said more mini snacks between meals...which goes against my plan dammit! Snacks are what bite me in the backside when it comes to weight, and alcohol. I am 9 weeks post Op today

    Post op tiredness

I am 9 weeks post surgery today and it's only just becoming obvious how my body is reacting to the nutrition. If I short change myself in nutrients, miss my multi vitamin, don't get at least 2 litres of fluid, I feel absolutely exhausted. I am lucky to work from home and I'm going to book a 30 minute power nap at midday just after lunch so I can continue to recover well.

    Hard Recovery

You are very much in the early stages, so please be patient. I know it's easy to say as I'm 9 weeks post Op today, but trust me you will recover. I'm lucky I work from home and I still feel very fatigued if I don't nourish myself properly, or maybe have a glass of wine too many. With swallowing, I mixed 50/50 apple juice and water and sip sip sipped throughout the day. You can make a thin smoothie with low fat high protein milk, and maybe some less sweet protein powder or even a bit of fruit, add a smidge of honey for sweetness and sip sip sip all day. You have had major surgery, perhaps you need to take another week off work to put some more nutrition slowly into your body. Take care x
  17. Ooooh I have such a good tale to tell.....I was really worried because it would be at least 6-7 days before I pooped a pebble sized nugget! Seriously. I am 8 weeks post op, and three days ago I started to poop good and proper. And I mean satisfying, every morning the same time. My dietician said it would kick back in, so yippee for me. Haha, I have a little surge of self pride when I'm done on the throne!

    Sick of Liquid Diet

Trust me, you will look back at this time and wonder what you were worried about. 7 weeks post op and I am struggling to feel good after solid foods!

    I don’t feel right

Don't be, just take it super slow. When I went to puree it was really runny pumpkin soup that I started with. I ate with a teaspoon and let it just sit in my mouth before I swallowed. Sounds gross, but I am super paranoid about feeling nauseas and vomiting so it worked for me. I am 7 weeks P/O and I'm just starting to experiment a little more with textures. I have worked out that meat really isn't a good option just yet, aside from fall apart chicken if it's been in the pressure cooker. I get my protein from tasteless protein powder, yoghurt and eggs. I know I'll never ever be able to have a lifestyle like before which suits me fine. One surprise is that my tummy copes really well with rice wafers, those little snack crackers that are slightly salty. Crunch crunch then they go all soggy and they are a good filler.

    6 weeks po

Remember you have had major surgery, the stalls are very common and expected and are your body's way of settling into the next phase. Be patient, this is a marathon and not a sprint 🙂
  21. I started taking the chewable multi vitamins during my pre op diet as my ferritin was a little low (not too bad, but the dietician suggested I get as healthy as possible to assist with recovery). I seem to be in the minority, but I really like the ones I have. They are BN chews from bnmulti.com and very palatable.

    Meal timeframes

It is a struggle but I have tasteless protein in almost every meal! I try to have 2 TBS 5 times a day.
  23. Oh and I feel like I'm stalking you haha following you around the boards. 🙂
  24. They say no gum. Gum makes you swallow small amounts of air and will create tummy pain. I'm not sure if you have them in the US, but here in Australia we have listerine strips. They are about a half cm square in size, and like a tiny little piece of shiny paper. It's mint and it dissolves on your tongue.

    I don’t feel right

Oh god yes, I feel your pain...I had to giggle....I have done it so many times.....lesson learned.
