sach1 got a reaction from Tomo in Vibration plate
    Hi.
I'm almost 1 month out of my surgery now.
Don't get enough time for regular exercise like due to children and then this winter weather.
I have a vibration plate at home. Have been using it before my surgery and gotnpositove results out of it.
My question is if it is safe using it 4 weeks afterbtge surgery?
Has anyone else had any experience?
Thanks in advance for your replies

almost everyone has their first one sometime during the first month, but after that, it varies. I think I might have been about three months out when I had my second one. I always dealt with them the same way - stuck to my plan and stayed off the scale for a few days. Worked every time!

    sach1 got a reaction from Mo3orLess1116 in PCOS/Endometriosis
I'm suffering from PCOS. Irregular periods, weight gain, Water retention, anxiety... all the symptoms you can imagine and quite severe.
I had my surgery 5 weeks ago in hope to lose some weight and that the body would reboot the whole hormone household and metabolism, having posiive effect on pcos too.
I've lost almost 20 lbs in 5 weeks. Currently having a stall and fears not to lose any more weight. But like everyone here on the forum says, carry on with the routine and it will follow.
Now coming to effects on pcos.. I feel positive regarding to my body image and weightloss, can sleep much better and have barely anxiety attacks.
Can't say anything about menstrual cycle yet.
Just hoping it will regulate the cycle too.
The facial Hair growth has increased though.
I was taking inistole prior surgery for PCOS. Stopped at the moment.
Will speak to my doc if I should continue taking them.

Like @kristieshannon above, I started taking ACV to help with GERD, among its other benefits.
I absolutely could not stand drinking it, no matter how much I diluted it. So, I did a little research and discovered these capsules. They also have cayenne pepper in them for some of those anti-inflammatory properties. I can't say as they're a miracle or anything, but I do feel better when I take them.
9 weeks out might be a little soon to introduce ACV. When in doubt, ask your doctor and/or nutritionist.

So this is quite anecdotal with a sample size of just me. I had heard that ACV could help with GERD. My surgeon had me on Prilosec for the first 3 months after my sleeve and then tapered me off of it. I started having occasional GERD. I didn’t want to go back on Prilosec. I read about ACV and gave it a try. I now take one Gummy in the morning and one at night. Zero GERD for the last year since I have been taking it. It could totally be a coincidence, but to me it’s worth it to keep taking it.

I couldn't do it - the acid would really bother my stomach
you might be able to at some point, but I would think it might be too early yet - but ask your surgeon.

Ask your medical team as the acid my cause some issues. I love pickled onions but I didn’t start eating them again until after 12 months (I chop them in my salads).
    Congrats on your surgery.

You can get half of your daily Protein requirements in if you use milk and add yogurt and protein powder.

Spinach, cucumber & apple is my favourite smoothie! I started on them around 5 weeks out in my pureed food stage. I'm now almost 3 months out & still can't eat veg without a lot of restriction so its the only way I can get it in.
Agree with a previous poster, prioritise Protein first over the smoothie though. Now my stomach is stronger i add chia seeds to mine which provides fibre & a little protein, always weigh the seeds though as they are more calories than you think. Lastly, remember the sugar in fruit changes more to "bad" sugar when juiced so I'd make sure you limit the quantity.
I'm going to try ginger now you've suggested it in my morning smoothie tomorrow

My doc said I had to wait 8 weeks. My standard "recipe" is milk (or milk substitute), some yogurt, a scoop of Protein Powder, a good handful of dark greens like kale or spinach, some berries, and half a banana. I also add 2 TB of frozen prickly pear juice with is super high in antioxidants.

Be sure to get your Protein first, but after that I don’t see anything wrong with a green smoothie. Sounds tasty!

Thank you for posting this question. I have been in the same moment. 4 weeks post op and 17 lbs down. The scale not moving but my clothes are hella loose. I have always gained muscle first then lose the weight.
    Let's hang in there.

I have lost 15lbs now since surgery (11 days ago). Also, I just went for my first 30 minute walk. Felt nice to be out in the sunshine and fresh air.

I’m a big tea drinker. The caffeine in green tea (in my opinion) is so low, I don’t even register it as caffeine. I drink warm tea whenever I want and no issues falling asleep at bedtime. It helps me when I think I want carbs at night too. Drinking warm tea cures that instantly. Enjoy!

I drink Sleepy Time Chamomile and Decaf green tea. I just ordered Moroccan Mint Tea and Peppermint when my stomach goes funny. Trying to give up coffee.

I'm with Arabesque on this. I started drinking hot green tea for the anti-oxidants. I had given up caffeine long ago and wasn't interested in re-introducing it. I have been drinking it since about 2006 and often sip on green tea all day while I work. It had no significant effect on my weight loss alone.

I was watching some good videos about smoothies and overnight oats. A good way to add in your Protein Powder, veges and fruits. Only if you like them(smoothies and overnight oats) ofcourse.

First of all, if you are following your surgeon's instructions, you are doing nothing wrong. Something I've found eye-opening about this forum is that different programs can vary quite a bit in pre- and post-surgery meal plans, so just because yours is different than someone else's doesn't mean it's wrong!
Second, if you feel comfortable entering some info about yourself in your profile, it would be helpful for context, because a lot of things depend on your starting weight and BMI, your current weight and BMI, and how long ago your surgery was. A lot of people who start at the low end (BMI <40) are disappointed in their weight loss because they compare themselves with people who started with a BMI over 60, but the higher your weight, the faster you can lose it. Also, if you are a tall man, your calorie needs will be higher in general than for a petite woman.
I am 5.5 months out from gastric bypass and I typically eat 500-600 calories per day. The nutritionist for my program told me at my 6-week followup to increase my calories to 800-1000 per day, and although I have followed all other instructions of my program very carefully, this is something I have not done, partly because I don't think that I could. My program says to eat three meals per day and avoid Snacks other than Protein Drinks. I'm also supposed to get at least 60 grams of Protein per day (and sometimes I fall short of that). Eating three small meals per day that are focused on protein, I would have a hard time getting 800 calories in a day. I feel that it is important for me to avoid snacking because I don't want to fall back into the old habits that got me to 341 pounds.
I have had two additional followups with my surgeon, and he says that I'm doing great and to keep on doing what I'm doing. I just got my 6-month bloodwork (I did it a little early) and everything is great, so I feel confident that this is working for me. But you are a different person, and you should listen to your surgeon for what will work for you. The caveat to that is that a lot of surgeons seem to have a one-size-fits-all approach, which I think is what happened with me. I'm a 5'3" woman, and I suspect the nutritionist gave me the same advice as she would give a 6'3" man.
Here are some examples from my food diary from the last few weeks (these are not consecutive days -- I tried to pick days with a variety of foods because I tend to eat the same things over and over). Ignore the weird order of meals; I was working night shift for a couple of these, so the timing of my meals was different.

I'm eating between 800-900 calories per day - the dietitian says that at my stage (9 weeks post gastric bypass) I should be having between 800-1000. I'm losing weight fairly steadily at that calorie intake. I don't think I could function on 600 cals or less a day - at the beginning when I couldn't physically take in many calories I couldn't concentrate and felt exhausted a lot of the time.

Ugh. It certainly does get annoying when people constantly comment on your weight/looks, but even more so when they actually tell you to your face that you are somehow under-performing based on their uninformed opinion. I mean, really. 🙄
    Try changing the subject.
...and then come on here, and we can give you a well deserved high five.
