Have you started taking your vitamins? I started my vitamins the day after I got home and that evening things were moving.

Oh, hey! Yes, I'm doing well. I can't complain. A lot better than I was expecting. Just missing food, but.....🤷🏾‍♀️ Hope you are too!

That sounds horrible! Sorry that happened. Sounds like maybe a terrible reaction and a panic attack. Just speak to your doctorand let them know what you were feeling. If they have you something that wasn't compatible they should know.

Update: successful procedure on Thursday (thanks to God) and released to go home on Friday. Very grateful i can drink and things are coming along okay. This OnQ pump is annoying but appreciated. Only lost a couple pounds from preop diet (2 weeks liquid). That mostly came from the last 48 hours in which I could not have anything solid at all, only clear liquids and I stopped working out those last three days. I have lots of gas that's not moving enough so I feel full. I can pass gas from both ends (...I know🤭). No bowel movement. Keeping track of liquids, meds, everything is hard but getting the hang of it. Just went for a 20 minute walk outside (it's absolutely beautiful out! ) and will go again later. I do walk around the house and try not to sit for too long. I was so annoyed when my friend had delicious Thai food from one of our favorite restaurants. It smelled so good! One day....Can't think of anything else. Hope all is well with everyone!

Appreciate the reports from the first group that completed their surgery. Makes today feel a little less scary. Here we go...

@blackcatsandbaddecisions you know, I never thought of it like that. Yeah that's been my Journey too. I've lost significant weight in the past so again, you make sense. That's a great perspective.

Good luck, knowledge and intelligence (and best wishes) to all of our surgeons and Medical Teams as we start the process of going into surgery. May we all respond well, heal swiftly and continue to make the best decisions for our health, life and families. 💛🙏🏾 Keep in touch

@blackcatsandbaddecisionsthanks for sharing! That is helpful to know. I think it is kind of connected because you made so many changes beforehand and you lost so much weight, (Congratulations by the way,)that you lost at a very slow pace in the liquid diet. That makes sense. I wish you continued success! And have the faith that you will reach your goal 🙂

I can't remember if you posted about your pre-op diet but I was just curious and trying to find a correlation to previous diet and activity behaviors and pounds lost during the pre-op diet. What has your experience been like?

Hi all. I'm wondering if there is anyone else on a pre-op diet (or who has already gone through that process) who already (prior to the diet) was not drinking pop or soda, things like that, ate mostly "balanced meals" and who is still working out or physically active? Thanks in advance 🙂

Good for you!! Keep it up Terrible over here. Well, I shouldn't say terrible but definitely not easy or anything close to that. It's Friday and after a long stressful week I like to have a little glass of wine or premium margarita. This is my first Friday not having that as an option so.....This Is The New Normal. It's bad enough i can't have a solid meal but i have a goal. This is only my second day so I haven't even stepped on the scale but I doubt any changes there as I still workout and lift heavy until I run out of energy. Trying to keep as much muscle mass as possible. That's important to me.

At least you get to have some real food in your diet. I just picked up my supplies today and it's 90% liquid. I get to have a small banana every once in awhile and a mini protein bar which I'm not really fond of. Never been a fan of protein bars it's like a candy bar..... just, no thank you. I would love to have a bowl of vegetables. This should be interesting.

A hiatal hernia does not disqualify you from a sleeve gastrectomy. I believe there are different types of hiatal hernias and of course it just depends on the individual and the surgeon. There are many people , as evidenced by the many videos online, that have had successful sleeve gastrectomy with hiatal hernia. I think that was the thought maybe 10 plus years ago but not anymore. And again it depends on the individual, the surgeon and the other comorbidities and health concerns - all that good stuff.

Every surgeon has different requirements. As someone else said previously, my surgeon likes to perform the endoscopy prior to the surgery for multiple reasons. To get a better look at things, to diagnose any gerd or hernias that may be present. I think it just provides an overview and eliminates any obstacles that may come up during the surgery. If you don't have to do it then hey, that's one less step for you.

That's how I felt after I completed mine last month. I've never had surgery or anesthesia before so getting through that was a big deal. A little peek into the big day.
  19. I worry about that too. I don't normally have a period because of birth control pills but obviously I was required to stop them right before the surgery and now I'm worried that it is going to start right when I have surgery. I don't want to deal with all that. I have terrible PMS which is why I take birth control in the first place. One more thing to worry about... sigh.... When I talked to the nurse about it she explained that it's common and it wouldn't be a problem if it happens and they deal with it. I just don't want to deal with it.

I've been pretty much done with everything and have had my day since September. This waiting has been very long and tedious but I think also helpful. I'm still really nervous but not as much as before. Getting ready to start this liquid diet and I'm not looking forward to it just because of headaches and irritability. I'm already going through that having had to stop some medication before surgery. I'm just counting down for this procedure to be over and for a smooth recovery process. I'm curious what people are planning as far as work. How much time are you all taking off from work? I am working from home so I figure I'll get through the weekend and go back to work that week. I don't know. Perhaps I'm being overly optimistic but I hate taking time off from work and it's actually pretty convenient that I can work from home so....

So I actually can have these little protein bars, jello and a small banana. This should be interesting.

    Anyone go into surgery alone?

That's a great question. I'm curious too as I'm in a similar situation.

Haven't started yet but it will be a 2 week liquid diet. Just liquids. I plan on reaching out to inquire about 1 small meal or some lean protein.
