I had my Gastric Sleeve in November 2016. Starting weight 485 lbs. Current weight 220 lbs.
To say it changed my life would be an understatement. If you are on the fence about having this surgery, take my word for it. It works!

I am so happy today! 50 pounds gone! It has taken 3.5 months, which is longer than I thought it would take, but it's 50 pounds gone which is more than I've ever lost before regaining! I lost 25 pounds the first month and have been averaging 10 pounds for the last 2.5. I had to resign myself to NOT getting to goal by the holidays, but I have felt amazing, never deprived and my skin and hair look great! Slow and steady wins the race!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

It can happen early on, and yes, it does seem as if we are eating and drinking all the time. Running out of gas and/or having to take a nap midday is not unusual for a while. Hydration, or lack thereof, can do it (how is your urine - clear and pale is good and a sign of adequate hydration, more deeply colored is not?) Does your program have you taking Iron and/or B12 - those are the typical micronutrient causes early on (B12 not so much with the sleeve, but some people run short anyway.)
Protein might be part of the problem particularly if you are depending upon GENEPRO for it - that's a questionable product that doesn't provide as much protein as they imply (what exactly does "equates to 30g" mean?). Try changing product or doubling up on it.
Our diets early on are heavily biased toward protein (and water!) with everything else being secondary, which means that we often aren't getting the carbohydrates needed to maintain our energy balance (and some go overboard on that under the belief that it will improve their weight loss.) Some programs specifically have their patients doing a bit of mild "carb loading" to help avoid this problem. Try having some oatmeal or cream of wheat for Breakfast, or unsweetened apple sauce as a snack and see if that improves things.

The lethargy is pretty common. I made up bottles of diluted hydralite (it was too sweet at full strength) to boost my energy levels. The electrolytes, including glucose, which give you a boost. You may find it a little easier to drink too than just plain Water to help with your Fluid intake.
    Good luck.

Oh forgot to add... I could not bare the lovenox injections at home. My husband had to do the injections. I took them 4 times then asked my nurse if I could stop them. She said I could If I remained active and walked, so I did. Today’s makes a full week since surgery and I have lost 9 lbs. I am a low BMI I hope to keep going down
I wear a waist trainer daily I even took it with me on surgery day it has been super helpful it helps to hold my midsection together so there is not too much jiggle it helps at night when I have to get out of bed so I don’t have to strain
i have been sleeping upright at night it has been uncomfortable sleeping on my side and it helps with the ton of gas I have

Hey all. I have a confession- I am 8 days post op and on the liquid diet. Yesterday and today my family had pepperoni pizza and I took a pepperoni off, chewed it up, then spit it in the trash. It’s like I just wanted the taste. Today I chewed up half a chicken nugget to get the taste or chicken then I spit it out.

has anyone done this? I need to stop, I know. I am looking forward to the puree stage so I can have variety of tastes

Oh gee. My doctor did not warn against it. I will try not best to refrain from it because things have went so well thus far and I don’t want to ruin anything!!! Purée food is only 6 days away so I will try to hold on.

I got my sleeve done yesterday. Everything has gone smoothly thus far. I have experienced a lot of air bubbles and pressure in my chest. I have been walking around my house and yard to help release it. Last night I had to sleep upright in the bed to help with the gas in my chest. I am staying ahead of the pain by taking meds so I haven’t felt any excruciating pain yet 5 incisions on my belly

I did it at the beginning with beef Jerky. I was so tired of sweet stuff and just wanted something different. I chewed it really well, made sure not to swallow any, and spit it out when I ran out of flavor.

My Doc warned specifically not to do this. Once it's in your mouth, it's easy to accidentally swallow then you've created a problem which is no fun to get resolved, unless of course you enjoy a getting a scope down your throat after a ton of pain and wretching a fresh surgery.
I'm also not sure that you should be chewing such greasy foods at all. When you hit the puree stage, eating will be tough enough without adding grease.
OK, I'm not big on telling early post ops how to not follow their plan, but as you seem intent on doing it:
Puree the damn things. That way, if you screw up you won't kill yourself. You can still taste and spit, or whatever.
But, really, focus on following your plan.
    Good luck,
    Tek

I did that and it helped me through the liquid and pureed stage. I did it very infrequently though because I wanted to embrace early post op and not get used to the flavorful unhealthy foods again. Those liquid and pureed stages were rough for me, as I still cooked meals for my family, so I get it. I say as long as you're careful about it not slipping into the back of your throat and u don't do it very often, do what u need to do to get through. The stages feel like forever when you're in em but time passes and ull be just fine!

I am presently 7 weeks post op. I calculated 5 lbs per week loss thus far. Feeling great, no problem in nutrition due to ordering food from Bariatric Pal. For example the oatmeal Cereal packets, I add in a small amount of old fashion oatmeal to it. My nutrition recommended me to increase to 1 cup verses 1/2 cup. Gastric bypass on Aug 28, 2020 with total loss of 37 lbs. Feel good, some straining in the beginning for BM but now it is much better with increase liquid intake of up to 8 cups per day. Meeting all my Vitamin and Protein intake. I also eat with a baby spoon that helps me control food intake. I use FairLife liquid instead of regular milk for cereal and liquid intake. So much easier with the packets/foods from Bariatric Pal. I do sugar free popsicles as well. No ice cream cause this was one of my down falls prior to surgery. It feels so good to fit in smaller clothing with ease instead of struggling to put it on or off. My husband is proud of me and very supportive. By watching me lose the weight, he is watching his food intake and lost weight with food Portion Control. Good luck to each of you on your journey.

It's very likely that. It's a common side effect. It should resolve fairly soon, if you've removed it.
