Look, we all took a hugh health risk by becoming this over weight. I am a firm believer that we should have are affairs in order in case we "get hit by a bus." Every surgery has risks but the risk of being morbidly obese is far greater. Good luck and keep good thoughts.

Hi, I wonder the same thing. I am getting banded on the 22nd, Friday which is my 38th wedding anniversary! My doctor only requires 2 days of clear fluids. I am going to do protein on my own starting tomorrow and then the clear. His post op is about the same as everyone else. Good luck to all of you!

Glad to hear he will help you. My problem is unsupportive ( is that a word?) sons. But like you, one surprised me and will take me back and forth from surgery. Good luck and don't let anyone tell you you cant do this.

I just started journaling on dailyplate.com. I thought I was an expert in knowing how many calories I put in my mouth. Boy did I have a shock! I hate to hear that your surgeon is blowing you off Perhaps you should remind him he did not do the surgery for free. Keep at him till he helps you. Good luck.

Liquids will not keep you full too long. You must eat. Have you tried tuna salad or chicken salad with not too much mayonnaise? More experienced bandisters may have better suggestion for you. You can also search here under the food threads for some great ideas. Good luck!

It sounds like you are starting a new job. Any chance their insurance will cover some or most of it? Make sure your insurance coverage has started before you look into it. Good luck!

Good luck to you! My son got married in 2006. Before the wedding I lost 60 lbs and thought I looked great too. Then I saw the pictures! They depressed me so much I gained it back. It took me a year to make the decision for the surgery.

I am 9 days away from surgery and like everyone else those scary thoughts creep into my head. I keep reminding my self that if I dont get my weight under control I could have a stroke or heart attack that could kill me too. I tell myself that the odds that my weight will kill me is greater than the lapband. Good luck everyone!

Sounds like a serious question for your doctor.

I would suggest that you ask your Mom to give her surgeon permission to speak to you. Ask him all your questions and make sure you understand the answers. Good luck to you and your Mom

I will be banded on 8/22 (my 38th wedding anniversary!) My doctor does not require much of a pre-op diet so I thought I would try to change my bad habits starting today.. I bought a toddlers fork & spoons. So I used them to eat my scrambled eggs. Tried to remember two chew chew chew and took small bites. I soon learned it wasn't as easy as I thought. It took so long that I actually lost interest in what I was eating. Now that is a first! I now understand why people post that you have to concentrate while eating or you will get in trouble! Please share your experiences. Thanks

I agree I think it was mean of them to do that to you. They do know that it is not healthy to eat right? If they do not already have a weight problem that is a good way to start. I know been there done that!

Where does it say you cant post with the Christians? I don,t think they would throw you out if they truly are Christians!

Jill, glad you are doing better! Nurses are truly angels on earth. When my husband was in ICU back in March it was a nurse who told the doctor what was wrong. She was 100% right!

I am so glad I found this site! The more I read here I find it is not unusual for family not to support their bandisters. It seems mine are nott the only ones who have gotten nasty. I have only told my very best friend, son's and daughter-in-law. You all and my best friend are the one who supports me and gives lots of encouragement. I am very fortunate to have you all! Guacamole is not low cal. While avocados are a healthly fat they are high in calorie. Maybe cut back on the amount you are adding. Good luck. It is way to early to be upset about a lb. It could just be sodium in your soup causing you to hold water. You will start losing soon.

My 31 & 32 year old son's have not been supportive about my surgery. I like to think I always had a good relationship with both of them. I feel I have gone above and beyond with both of them. Perhaps that is the problem, I have spoiled them rotten. I could write pages on the comments they have made about the surgery but I will just give you the high-lites. Today, my youngest son said that he and his brother thought I would never be able to handle it. He asked me if I realized what I would have to give up. I have researched this for over a year and have told them many times I would have to say good bye to bread, Pasta, rice and the hardest of all diet soda. He said I am not being relalistic and will not be able to cope. Not to mention how incapacitated I will be because of the surgery. How I wont be able to get out of bed! I explained that I had to get up and walk. It didn't matter what I said the bottom line is he is waiting to say I TOLD YOU SO. My oldest is no better. I will just give you the worst thing he has said "so help me Mom if you don't lose weight or gain it back I will get a gun and shoot you in the head!" Of course when I got very upset! :confused2: He said it was a joke. JOKE ?? YEA RIGHT. WHO SPEAKS TO THEIR MOM LIKE THAT? :w00t: I Don't have say another word to my youngest as he lives far away but unfortunately I need to rely on my oldest to take me to and from surgery. I know I will prove them wrong but my heart is broken :eek: that they would react this way. Thank you for letting me get this off my chest.
