sounds awful! Trying to understand...
di1138 replied to willowcat's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You have to do it for YOU. If you are not really committed to it you will fail. You can learn to eat around it if you don't follow the rules. It is a great tool and the best thing I ever did for myself but if you are against it then don't do it. I suggest you spend a lot of time researching it. Read the pre and post surgery posts. Learn all about it. YOU must decide for yourself and not look for others to talk you into it. Good luck on your journey. -
Are We ready for a Black President?
di1138 replied to TheWatcher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Boy my dad was right one should never talk about politics or religion. Nothing can get the blood boiling than an opinion that is different from ones own. -
Is it really worth it?? Please helpp
di1138 replied to jojo27's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
YES it is worth it. I have to say my surgery was not bad at all. I had very little pain, in fact I have had more from this tooth that was worked on last week. The darn thing still hurts! Everyone is different but I am sure I would feel this way even if I had not had it so easy. I have lost 43 lbs and feel great. I have had only one fill and I think the doctor got it right on the first try! I just canceled my appointment for my second which was scheduled for 11/5. I no longer spend my day thinking about food. I love my band. Good luck and let us know how you do! -
Are We ready for a Black President?
di1138 replied to TheWatcher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
REALLY TINA Because he's black! OMG if you don't like his politics that's one thing but the question is are we ready for a black president and you say thumbs down? He is half white if that makes you feel better. I can't believe there are still people like you in this world! -
Why did he buy cookies??? but don't beat yourself up I would have eaten the whole package before my band. 180 calories will come right off.

Life is not exactly what I was expecting...
di1138 replied to ghostbuster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wait a second, this is 2008 ! You can ask a guy out! I agree with others that perhaps you have lost some confidence in yourself. Take a class or find some other group out of your normal circle. If you meet some one you like take him for coffee! This is coming from an old lady (58) I wish I could have asked guys out when I was young but back in the "olden days" it would have been looked down on! -
DO you still use Protein Supplements in the long run?
di1138 replied to a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I love my shakes and have one every day, usually at lunch. I feel like I am having a milk shake and it stops my craving for sweets. My doctor has no problem with it because it adds 27 grams of protein. -
someone help me during this trying time....!
di1138 replied to jacole1820's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hang in there you are soooooo close to your goal! You are an inspiration to others. Just put this bad time behind you and stop beating yourself up. You have done great! Give yourself credit for that. Start listening to your band again. Good luck and in a month or two let us all celebrate your 100 lbs. -
Surgery weight 250 - current weight 209! 41 lost. I have had one fill and while it seems impossible to believe I don't think I need another soon. I am going to the gym 5 days a week. Two months ago I couldn't walk to the mail box without my body aching and out of breath. This is the best thing I could have ever done for myself. Love it!

Should prostitution be legal?
di1138 replied to Carrie_C's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If it is regulated to be "clean" why not? It is the worlds oldest profession and is not going away even if it is illegal so why not make it safer. -

Yes every doctor has their own timing on liquid diets. I only had to be on clear liquids 2 days before surgery and two after surgery. Then I went on liquids, soup, protein drinks etc for 2 weeks. After that mushies for 2 weeks and then food. Your body has to heal. If you rush food you could do damage to yourself. It is important to do what the doctor says. You will hear all of us say that the band is just a tool. There is work you have to do. Once you are filled you will find it is the best thing you have ever done. I am no longer hungry and I feel great. Good luck and keep us posted.

Welcome. This is a great site with a lot of information. One thing you will find is every doctor has their own way of doing things. Always do what he/she says first. Congratulations on your choice to become healthy!

My doctor was out of network so I had to pay an additional $2000. I have to say it was the best money I ever spent! I am not hungry or craving bad things. I even started going to the gym. I am so glad I did this.

Hi, I have not had your symptoms but my doctor told me it was okay to lift after 6 weeks. He did say be careful and bend my knees. That being said he told me no stomach exercise, like crunches for 4 months (?) I never thought to ask the difference. Let us know what your doctor says. Good luck hope you are okay.

Yes, me too. I think part of it is we may not be getting enough healthly fat in our diet. I have just added fish hoping it will help. I know too that I am not getting enough water and I am working on that.

Help banded 1/08 and still only 10# down!
di1138 replied to jmonash's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry you are having a tough time. I really think eating your first meal at noon is too late. You really need a breakfast. It sounds like your metabolism has really slowed down. Also, it really does not sound like you are getting enough protein. Cheese it crackers are high in fat and low in protein and vitamins. Fruit would be a better snack. Also are you chewing enough? I'm not sure how much you mean by a 1/2 of bowl but I find beef has to really be chewed a long time or it will get stuck. I wish you the best of luck. Dont give up and keep us posted. -
I watch them both! They are two different types of shows. I learn from Oprah and get entertained by Ellen. I love them both!

My doctor allows it after 6 months. He says small quantities and small sips are okay occasionally, not every day.

Please Read I need some opinions

I am sorry that I don't have an answer for you. Dont let your doctor off the hook. Keep calling him until you get answers. I hope you feel better soon. -
Do I need someone to spend the night after surgery?
di1138 replied to I'm With The Band's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor would not release me without a person to take me home. They had to sign that someone would be with me. Honestly I really didn't need someone but I think they feel that it is safer after any surgery to have someone with you. Talk to your doctor to be safe. Good luck! -
and maybe a B12 supplement. Hope you feel better soon.

pre-op diet....sugar free candy,okay?
di1138 replied to Britt_bander_235's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not sure because some sugar free candies have sorbitol in them. I think it is better to check with your doctor. Good luck with your surgery! -
My Doctor says No but never mentioned air, gas or pouch. He said it is very dangerous if you should accidently swallow it. It can get stuck and be very difficult to unstick causing a lot of pain.

Keep me posted. I hope everything is okay. Will be thinking about you.
