Months before surgery then one month after surgery, I found Walmart's Great Value nonfat yogurts to be very satisfying. I have at least one per day. They have a little fruit stirred in and do have a little sugar. I'm a picky eater. I tried plain yogurt but would rather not eat than have plain or greek yogurt.

Hello everyone, my name is Stephanie and I plan on getting the sleeve. I have tried everything else and it worked some but not really. I am in a good mindset now and ready to make good changes in my life.

I learned a lot from those hundreds of questions. The message I took from the questions are if you are someone that doesn't respect authority or believes everything is a conspiracy, you may not follow doctor's orders. If you don't follow the prescribed diet following weight loss surgery, you could have serious complications or you could die.

On mine I could only do 3 Protein Shakes a day, plus calorie free Clear Liquids. broth, sugar free popsicles and Jello, etc. It was rough. Lots of people get to do Proteins and veggies though.

Mine has many options. Is varys to liquid diet to solid diet, you can change it per day. I am going to try 1000 cal diet option where its bascially 1 slice bread, 2 x eggs, veg for every meal with yoghurt as a snack.

What pre-op diet is everyone talking about? Mine has plenty I can eat and not all liquid. Can someone post theirs?

I'm currently on day 4 of the pre-op diet and starving hungry. Not just head hungry! I've never done an 800 calorie diet - I used to be able to lose on 1400 calories - so am finding it very challenging. The thing that's getting me through is the thought that I only have another 15 days of it. Also my surgeon told me about a patient he had who didn't shrink his liver enough - they had to close the surgery without doing the op. I definitely don't want to be in that position.

Celebrating a small win! 7 days post Gastric Bypass and 15 pounds/8 inches lighter... since I'm still on a Fluid diet I don't seem to be as "swollen " as I normally would be. Wedding ring fits and hasn't in 3 yrs

LOL... I can relate! My birthday is during the pre-op diet, so... yeah... At least it won't be AS crappy (literally) 🤣 I'm just consoling myself with the fact that the surgery is my belated birthday present 3 days later. 😁

So I start my pre-op diet on October 23. I plan on having my last hurrahs before then (certain foods I will likely not be able to eat, as they are, again), but I am really concerned about how I am going to not starve on the actual POD. 😁 I know I will get used to it after a few days, but those FIRST few days... ouch. I do have a few (literally 3) phentermine left over from a past diet attempt... those would probably get me "over the hump" a bit, but I don't know if I should risk taking those and having them come up as meth or something on my pre-surgery labs on the 28th (surgery is November 2).

Any tips for getting through, when you are normally hungry ALL. THE. TIME?! 😔

I haven't had surgery yet, but from reading the forums for research, it seems the 3 week stall is a thing. If you search for 3 week stall on here, you get a ton of hits.

I don't start mine until the 23rd, and the dietician told me to not start earlier (noooo problem! LOL) The paperwork is in the other room, but from what I remember, it's low carb, low calorie. Some foods, but not much. I'm glad it isn't liquids only, like a lot of folks'. I dunno how you all survive on that (afterward, sure... Before? )

I’m sorry for my scattered thoughts, currently doped up a tad bit!

I know everyone’s experience is different, but I wanted to share my thoughts (especially for those that are worried about the surgery!)

I have never had surgery prior to this VSG, and also suffer from pretty severe anxiety and was so so worried about getting an IV, pain, being nauseous, staying in the hospital alone, etc. I just wanted to share that my surgery went great!! I have minimal pain and nausea and feel pretty darn good. I’m so excited for this life changing opportunity.

To those of you in the preop stages of wls, please don’t let anxiety or fears hold you back from changing your life!! As much as I wanted this surgery, I contemplated cancelling it almost daily due to fear. As mentioned, everyone’s experience is different, but don’t let the “what if’s” hold you back!
