    Finally in Onederland!! 🎉

Congrats!!! It is such a great feeling. I can't wait to be there myself eventually... and STAY there for good this time!!

    Incisional Scars and Creams?

@Mr Alley Gator - how much of it do you go through? It looks huge on the screen, but is only one ounce, so I am curious how many jars it would take...? I tend to scar poorly, so I am interested in this thread as well.
  4. You're here, and alive! I am sorry you woke in so much pain, though... I am hoping that the pain meds are doing their job now, and you're feeling better today!

    I'm Doing It!

My pre-op labs are today, and I have been on the pre-op diet for... this is the beginning of my 6th day 🤣 My surgeon just always requires a 10 day pre-op diet, apparently. Mine includes food, though, so it isn't too bad (anymore. Those first three days were rough. I am eating like an eighth of what I normally did.)
  6. All the best to you today! I am sure it will go well!
  7. I'm still pre-op, on my pre-op diet currently, and I'm trying to practice habits I'll need for after (drinking water in sips instead of gulps is the hardest. I love water and am a gulper). One is eating food very slowly, with pauses... Thing is, stuff gets either cold if it's a hot food, or warm if it's a cold food. I dunno about you, but cold scrambled eggs are gross to me, for example. What are the best ways you've found to combat this issue?

    Keeping food warm/cold

Fabulous! I'm guessing plastic plates would be a no for those LOL (I'm just being funny... I don't have plastic plates.) Thanks for that idea!!

    Keeping food warm/cold

Yes... This is what I was going for. I wonder if that would work well... I'll have to look into it. Thanks! Wonder if anyone has any food-warning experience with them...

    Keeping food warm/cold

I didn't take it as condescending, but nuking something repeatedly would... not be good 😁 I was thinking more like small warming bowls, or insulated plates or something.

Wow! I know my surgeon will be doing the scopolamine patch and the zofran for sure, as we talked about my nausea level from prior surgeries. Once I do my pre-op appt Wednesday, I'll let you know if I was prescribed anything in advance (last time I had surgery, they just gave me a shot glass of zofran in the hospital while I was waiting, I didn't get it before I got there, so I wasn't aware that was a thing!)

    Telling the Kids

I told my older teenaged son (who is also big, but not as big as me) that I was having the surgery so I wouldn't be in as much pain, I could go on walks with him, and I could stick around longer. He's happy to have a future walking partner.

    Scarring

Hi, all! Surgery is a week from tomorrow, and I'm already thinking about the scars. I tend to scar poorly, and I want to give these the best chance of healing that I possibly can. Any tips? TIA.

@mswillis5 - you wrote "mswillis5 & wife" are you both having surgery on the same day? How exciting!

    Scarring

Yeah, I have been curious about the silicone tape. I plan on asking my surgical team this stuff as well, but wanted to get more opinions from the folks who have the scars, not the ones who create them... LOL
  19. I apologize. I just looked through my paperwork, and I don't appear to have a pureed stage. I guess that might go in the "soft foods" stage for mine, because after that, I have "soft/solids". LOL Like I said, every team has a different plan.

    Newbie

Welcome! This is a great resource In the "Food and Nutrition" section, there's a recipe sharing forum that would probably be very helpful.
  21. You're a gem, helping your mom ❤️ The "full liquid" on the plan my surgeon does is not pureed food, it is stuff like pudding, cream soups with no bits, protein shakes, yogurt, etc. My plan has a "soft foods" stage in between full liquid and pureed, too. I'd ask the surgical team or dietician for the guidelines they recommend, because they all seem to be different.

Feeling that my stomach is protruding

Interesting... that must be disconcerting. I'd check with your surgical team on it. I've read a lot of folks feel more comfortable with a binder, but I would ask the team first. Keep us posted!

    Scarring

I am looking in to a few things. I don't keloid REALLY bad, but my scars from my breast reduction 30 years ago are still somewhat visible, as is a scar on my forehead from when I was six. Ugh. Of course, I didn't really take care of them, because I was young and invincible, right? I don't smoke cigarettes, thankfully.

I will have to look into bio oil. I haven't heard of it. Google will be my friend today

Yeah, mine is 10 days and has food. Lower carb, low fat, low calorie. I am feeling very low. LOL... Now that I am on day 4, I am not QUITE as hungry, and I am losing weight like nuts. I am guessing it is because my calorie range for the last 3 days has been between 400-700 😳 As for the liquids, really try to get them in... because I think it will be harder after surgery, and I'd think it would be better to start out hydrated. I am rootin' for you! Congrats on the 50 lbs down!! What Rx did you need to get? I haven't been told of any, but I do go in for my pre-op labs Wednesday. Maybe I will find out then.,, I am one of the others on the 2nd as well... though with you being in Norway (where in Norway, BTW? My husband's father's line is originally from there) you will go first. Looking forward to seeing how you do. I had sooo much before I started this pre-op diet. Scallops, shrimp, steak, pizza... I bid them all goodbye for a while.
