  1. I set mine in increments, so like reward at -50, then -75, -100. Currently I’m -46 so come on -50! My rewards list: New hair day New tattoo day clothes shopping And for my husband and I both (he only has 30lbs to lose of course lol) we want an exercise bike to add to our home gym.
  2. Wow, I’m sorry you are going through this!!! That is awful! To be honest, it’s hard to say what is related purely to your WLS and not the covid and pancreatitis. Throw all that together while recovering from a major surgery, that is a huge deal. I’m glad you are doing better, and hope that you continue to do well. Getting better each day! Hugs!!!!!
  3. Okay...I’m sure there are other amateur bakers/chefs and professionals out there too, who have had WLS. I am one month post op and have began to bake again. I’m just a home baker that makes sweet treats for friends, family...nothing too fancy. I have been making cookies for an upcoming fundraiser and for a friend. I’ve recently changed my sugar cookie recipe, so it required tasting. Same with my icing, it’s how I know it’s at the right place. So with that said, it’s been little dips to taste, and I did pinch off one piece of a baked to taste how the texture came out. All that to say....I didn’t count any of it in my daily, just acknowledging that I did taste those things. However, I did notice a blood sugar spike (on an insulin pump), so I must have consumed enough for the spike. How as a baker/cook/chef do you manage tasting but maintaining a weight loss strategy? Sweets aren’t a trigger for me, cereal is, so even though my plan allows unsweetened cereal, I avoid cereal all together both to eat and bake with.
  4. Yeah I was going to ask too this week. lol
  5. Glad you are doing so well @mil_unloaded!!! Things are going fine over here as well. Down 46 lbs from my highest, about 39 since pre op (-19) and then post op so far. I’m excited to be starting soft foods and had some deli meat and cheese today and I was so happy. Lol! I’ve actually tried a few things over the last few days. So far everything has been well. I definitely can feel when something sits really heavy. It just is so nice to feel like I’m eating “real” food again.
  6. I’m really sorry you are experiencing all this! It sucks and you have every right to feel crappy! I would try to follow what your surgeon says but if you need to throw a “snack” in there, I think if you are staying within your macros without grazing all day, then the snack is fine. As for the hair loss, I have no advice besides I’m so sorry. This is something I’m so nervous about myself. I have PCOS, and have been losing my hair for a couple years, so I’m very concerned how much worse it will get. I already have an area that’s very thin and I’m afraid it will push it to a bald spot. I keep trying to remind myself that it is temporary! It WILL grow back. Though I know it’s hard to keep telling yourself that. You have done such a great job getting to where you are at. Keep pushing along!! You have made such great strides already! Hugs.
  7. Yay for getting a date!!! It won’t be long and you’ll be on the path to a better you!
  8. I’m not quite to foods like this yet but my plan does allow cereals but I’m going to avoid them also. Cereal is a trigger food for me. I cannot stop myself from huge unrealistic bowls. It’s better to just steer clear of those things! So good for you for avoiding it!!
  9. Yes definitely! I would have this picture in my head of what I looked like (was also not overweight until basically adult hood). Then I would see a picture, usually like a candid picture and be like omg that’s what I look like?! It was very shocking. And disheartening. Im only 3.5 weeks post op, so I have no idea what in terms of my dysmorphia will be like post op.
  10. Yay for breaking through the stall! I’m 3.5 weeks out and I am so ready to be off purées. I’m over them entirely. It’s been frustrating. I know it could be worse, so I’m grateful I only have another week and I can start soft foods. Sorry you are sick! That’s no good!! I hope it’s not covid! I go back the end of January. Part of me is ready and excited, and part of me has enjoyed the extra time with the kiddos!
  11. Checking in! How is everyone doing?!
  12. This happened to me when my husband cooked brussel sprouts. ?. I’m 3.5 weeks post op. I almost feel like I did when I have been pregnant, a super smelling nose and easily nauseated by it.
  13. Oh no that’s awful!!! That doesn’t help you at all! Maybe the surgeons office could help by giving them a call? Fingers crossed you hear soon!
  14. Mine was pretty quick with BCBS, maybe 6 days ? Though I also called my care coordinator at BCBS and that helped speed the process up!!
  15. These are all amazing and all of you are AWESOME!!! Makes me so excited to keep pushing on this journey! -44lbs and going, I can’t wait for that after picture!
  16. Yes. I just had a sleeve, no hernia repair. I constantly have them! Especially after drinking or eating.
  17. That's the worst! I just broke through one myself! Won't be long!!!
  18. I’m sorry I don’t have advice but I wanted to say lots of hugs!!! I hope it gets better for you soon. I can imagine how difficult this is for you. Lots of prayers!
  19. Being nervous is totally okay! I was nervous too! It’s a big surgery and a big change! I think I was more nervous for this surgery than I was giving birth twice! For me, I had minimal pain but significant nausea. I did vomit a lot the first 2 days, which was very challenging and I wondered what did I do?! But one phone call to the doctor and they added an Emend pill, it literally saved me! So there are MANY options should you experience nausea to help get you through it. After that I felt like I turned a corner! I’m almost 3 weeks post op now and have felt completely back to normal since probably 1-1.5 weeks out. Remind yourself why you are doing this and remember YOU GOT THIS!!!! ??
  20. It will all work out!! Just remember why you’re doing it in the first place and it won’t be long and you can go right back at it! Hugs!
  21. Glad to see your approval came through! It pays to stay on their booty!
  22. I did nothing today. Besides just playing with the kiddos. I’m just pooped today. I hate that feeling! Just being so tired, it’s exhausting ???‍♀️. Are you still on purées?
  23. I tried to exercise today. I did two mikes and felt like I ran a marathon. And I’m as walking lol. I have no energy. I hope that gets better soon. I may try to do it first thing in the morning instead of waiting a bit.
  24. Oh my gosh, yes on the insomnia! I’m like dying over here. Lol! I’m tired but I just lay there forever. I usually am a 9 o’clock I’m asleep and it’s like midnight and I’m still awake. I’m glad to see it is normal! Maybe I need to wake up earlier, I get up when the toddler does which is usually around 745-8. Maybe I should get up earlier to go to bed at my normal time.
  25. My husband has always been into protein because he lifts and works out. So I’ve tried quite a few. For pre made, the only ones I can tolerate are fairlife. They have the least “protein” taste and texture. For powders, I like GNC lean shake. I used to like the lean shake burn but I don’t do any caffeine now. The chocolate is the best flavor (IMO), the cookies and cream has a great taste but has like little chunks of chocolate or something and I dislike that texture. My husband is always bringing home samples from GNC. Before covid they would scoop them into little containers but I don’t know how they do them now. As for unflavored....I use Isopure Unflavored Protein to use in food. Ricotta bake, protein pudding, refried beans (I’m in purée stage). It is so fine that it blends very well and doesn’t leave it gritty. I don’t think I could do it in water, it’s unflavored but it isn’t tasteless so I need something to mask it!
