I’m going to weigh in on day 7 of the liquid diet and then the morning of surgery. I’m on day 5 and today feels like a hungry kind of day. ??

BCBS here also. My requirements were only it must be a center of excellence, once there a psych eval, nutrition appt, and then a consult. My submittal to insurance to approval back was like 6 days total. Total from start of everything to my surgery date...I started 11/6 with this surgeon and my surgery is 12/22! Good luck!!!

So exciting everyone! Hoping everybody who had surgery this week is feeling good and healing well! I just got all my instructions for the big day (22nd), mine is outpatient so I’m grateful for that. However, I’m super scared now because hubby is not allowed to stay there. It’s drop off, surgery recover usually 8-9 hours and then he can come back and get me. I’m not used to that. Any major surgery I’ve ever had he has been right there when I woke up. So I’m just very nervous to be at it alone, with nurses I don’t know. I wish he could come so bad!

It’s hard! I am on day 4 and it is getting easier. I am hangry. I’ve just been trying to keep myself busy! I second a suggestion for jello. I can have sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles! They help break up the day and give me something to “chew” on.

The pre op diet is so hard! My surgeon has us use his products (which is dumb IMO) but nonetheless. Some of it isn’t horrible, and gives you something to chew. Albeit, chewing for thirty minutes on one bite of rubber but ya know. ??. Otherwise it’s just been protein shakes/popsicles/SF jello.

Mine is also 12/22!! We are buddies! Are you on the pre op diet? Yesterday was my first day on it. It was okay until the evening. Then I was hangry. ???‍♀️

I’m sorry! Hoping you get rescheduled soon! The waiting is agonizing! That’s not selfish at all, in fact people are being selfish by not following very easy, simply guidelines to help protect each other.

Pre-op diet starts tomorrow for surgery on the 22nd. So nervous! Excited too but nervous! Especially about the head hunger.

Are you insulin dependent diabetic? I think this changes the game. I’m on an insulin pump, and the intermittent fasting doesn’t work well for me because of this. By 9-10am, my BS is in the 60’s and I need to eat. It’s annoying! I would definitely check with your doctor about what would be the right fit diet wise. Especially since you need to lose 20lbs, (which you will!!!) but they can keep you on track for success! As a diabetic, I’ve always found low carb to be my key. Now if I actually ate low carb for my life, I wouldn’t be overweight. A few of my friends who are also on pumps (but not really overweight) struggle with the same issues. you got this!!!!

My biggest gift to myself is my upcoming sleeve on the 22nd! I also LOVE headphones, I wear them to walk, mow the grass (and we have a mini farm so we mow A LOT), Zumba...so dh got me some apple air pods. I’m a loyal Apple fan. Phone, MacBook, iPad, Apple Watch kind of people so they were fitting. I love my Apple Watch. I have the 3rd generation and it’s still going strong. I have no complaints! I like it when I take the kids to the Y, I can sit in the pool with the little ones and still get my text and stuff without having to worry about it ruining getting wet!

I am having a lap gastric sleeve! As long as you have no complications you can go home same day.

Yes, I feel this way also. Though I keep trying to remind myself that I’ve tried it all before and that this is only a tool. It WILL fail if habits do not change and that I am ready for a new way of life. This procedure will help give us the extra help we need to succeed. I keep trying to tell myself all these things. I’m terrified of it not working, or it not being successful.

Finally got my official date! 12/22. I’m a little nervous it’s only a couple days before Christmas. My husband will take some time off also to help with the kids. My older ones are fine, but my 12 month old won’t understand why I can’t pick her up so easy. I’m I have been so excited...now that I have my date and my ore op diet date (12/8) I’m petrified all of a sudden! Not really because of the surgery itself but just figuring out those first couple months post op. I’m trying not to freak out about it! ??

This probably isn’t helpful, but I’m having mine done in December and my baby will be 12 months in December. When I started the process in September, no one seemed bothered with how long it had been. However, they were concerned when I was still breastfeeding. I wouldn’t be able to breast feed and have the surgery. They explained because of the lack of nutrition during the pre-op and then post-op phase. I’m no longer breastfeeding so it isn’t an issue. Good luck!!!! And congrats on your little one!

December is getting close! I still don’t have my official date yet. :/ They just keep saying it will be before the end of the year. Well said, I haven’t heard from them in a week. Part of me wants to email/call but I feel like I’m being a pest! I may contact the girl I originally started talking to, she seemed to have the inside scoop. ??

That’s good to know! I had my final mental health clearance today. Everything is done except for signing consent papers and getting my official December date!
