I think you can lose that by the 10th. I've lost 45 pounds since May 23, 2020. Its not easy, but EVERYTHING my dietician told me worked. Are you skipping drinking fluids while eating, eating only WHAT you are allowed, not drinking for 30 min before and after eating, using small plates, measuring food, using the CORRECT shakes, logging food (I love the Lose It app.), journaling about your emotions when you go to eat and you aren't hungry, stopping when SATISFIED not FULL, Water all day (when allowed), chewing really slow, exercising a little I'm 336 on oxygen so you can do this girl. I do it in bed.. lol. You have to trust the process. I am getting therapy which wasn't required. HUGE help. We don't even talk about food. Lol. You can do this! I promise!

Anytime. I totally understand about eating fast. I still struggle with drinking Water too fast because I'm ALWAYS thirsty. Yes, when I was with my ex fiance and we had my nephew and his son it was SOOOO hard to not eat as I cooked and they never wanted to eat the good food I ate. Honestly, healthy Snacks are my saving grace and planning everything. Glad you're on here because I think most of all feel the exact same at one time or another. Good luck. Let us know how it's going.

You are normal do not panic! I would have to say all of us or most of us felt the same way, Just done with it. I beat the hell out of my body thru poor choices and a hell raising lifestyle. Now a year after surgery I feel 30 again and healthy and happy. You mind is playing games also which is very common
    You got this

During my two week pre-op diet I literally had no energy. I worked and that was about all I did during those two weeks. I was afraid I would feel like that post-op too, but my energy levels really did shoot up after week one of post-op. It was actually shocking how much energy I suddenly had. Loving it!

There were no visitors allowed when I had my surgery, but I wouldn't have had any visitors anyway, so it didn't make a difference to me. You can always call or Facetime your family/friends from the hospital. Just bring something to do or read to pass the time while you sip fluids (which demands more of your time and attention than you would think) and you'll be back home with your family before you know it.

The hospital I'm going to be at allows 1 guest per room between noon and 8pm. But honestly with 3 kids at home I don't expect my wife to visit that much anyway. Her parents will help I'm sure, but lets be honest hospitals are boring lol.

I had my bypass alone on 6/29. I was fine, my nurses took terrific care of me, and I could manage alone at home after I was discharged.

I travelled for my surgery solo and was in hospital for two nights without any visitors, I was fine, in fact, I generally prefer to be alone when I am not feeling well or need to recover from things.

Thank you for your response. You know, you told me something that I have never thought of before, the "using a journal to write down my emotions when I go to eat and am not hungry" thing. I think that may help. I have been using myfitnesspal and everything and I still snack around, sometimes I even snack off of the plates of the meals that I prepare for my kids. I am scared because I know I need to get these habits on point before I transform and I am praying that I will be strong enough after. I will also try chewing slowly because I am not doing that at all, I eat crazy fast :-/. and I am going to get some small plates, I have not been shopping for anything yet. It still hasn't registered in my head that I have a date and this is all about to go down. I appreciate the feedback and tips, thank you very much. ❤️

OMG! I was thinking of saying that. I feel so horrible because my bariatric team is amazing and have been working with me since last year. If I get really desperate I will just have to say this and wait for what they say after. My pre surgical testing is the 10th, so I am going to try my hardest to lose as much as I can and at least get to 370. Thank you for your response.

Oh honey! I felt like crawling through the phone and hugging you. I TOTALLY could see me doing that. Fast food is so darn yummy and FAST and the REGRET just like you said, too. I have lost 45 pounds pre op but I really struggled with eating fast food a couple times a week. I don't know about you, but i swear my subconscious always does that to me. It tells me you've done great, you DESERVE it. Like it's a reward. Its so annoying. I just have to tell myself ok. So what. You aren't perfect, you're only human. Now that you found out it wasn't worth it just try to do better one day at a time. It's ok. Hugs

It's much better than it was, and my capacity to eat is less. I count calories and come on here almost every day to remind myself what motivated me to get the surgery and lose the weight. There was a support group at my hospital, but with COVID, it's online and not as motivating.

Agree, that you need to dust yourself off and get back on track....... HOWEVER, this kind of slip can actually cause very serious harm - like breaking open your internal sutures and rupturing the new connections that are not even healed yet. People can DIE from this, so please, please, please stick to the plan. At this point, the dietary restrictions are about more than losing weight - it is about allowing the surgical sites to completely heal.
My doc would not even allow pureed cooked veggies until week 8, to avoid Fiber that could cause issues for the new surgical connections.

As with every profession, there are those that are at the bottom of the class.
I recall a doctor-mandated consultation with a dietician about 15 years ago. She was extremely fit but weighed about as much as my shadow, and had ZERO frame of reference about what it was like to be overweight, let alone lifelong morbidly obese. I recall her saying "well, maybe the next time have 1 slice of pizza instead of 2!" all satisfied with this glowing wisdom she had just imparted.
I replied "Lady, if the problem was 1 piece of pizza vs. 2, I wouldn't be in the shape I'm in. It's more of a question of 1 PIE or 2." She just couldn't fathom what it was like to be an overeater.
Needless to say, that went nowhere.
My dietician this time around, however, is aces. She too is a diminuitive slender fit women, but the persona is completely different. She asks questions, doesn't try to lecture, tries to find healthier alternatives to fit my lifestyle, food preferences, and cooking capabilities (or lack thereof). She doesn't berate me if I tell her that I've tried certain foods that aren't on the regimen or had something more or less frequent than I am supposed to.
She's not judgmental, so I don't feel the need to hide things from her; I can be candid with the good, bad, and the ugly.
Do you have the option of requesting a different dietician from the same hospital/system?

Most of the weight loss was pre-op. I started my surgeon's bariatric program at the beginning of February. I lost 78.3lbs pre-op and have lost 33.8lbs post-op.
As for ricotta bake, it's a VERY easy recipe that falls squarely within the soft foods category and tastes a lot like lasagna without the noodles. https://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=1793517
It's also very versatile because you can make additions to it. I made a big batch tonight and added in some seasoned ground turkey to up the Protein content.

And if it helps, I'm just over past 7 weeks post-op and I'm still on soft foods because my doctor threw his own book out the window and decided to do a very slow progression for me. Once you get to soft foods, you're gonna be thrilled and it'll make the wait to get to solid foods that much easier. Scrambled eggs will never taste as good as they do the first time you eat them post-op.
And...there's the ricotta bake to look forward to.
  23. Congrats!

I’m 73 days post op and some days go by where I don’t even think about food or eating, to the point I have to be reminded. Today I’ve had an egg, and I just ate two baby bell peppers, and will probably cut up some cucumber and Tomato with some balsamic. I don’t know what your diet will allow, or even what foods will agree with you (I haven’t had any issues with food intolerances at all) but I find raw veggies fill me up super fast and sit around for a long time. I get my Protein from shakes, protein Water, or chicken (which reminds me I’m behind schedule on protein for the day). I don’t track but I’d be surprised if I’ve had a 500 calorie day, and I never feel deprived.
