Why Don't We Give A Little Update Where We're At
I have the lapband AP. I still don't know how many cc's. My surgeon said the same thing about me. I guess it's a personal preference after all. Teri

Lap-Band in Upstate NY
I'm down in cooperstown NY and I got in I made my first phone call April 08, first related dr appt june 5, and met my 5% weight loss August 10, surgery September 16th. I was so ready... and I started real food today. Gosh I'm afraid of taking bites of food. So I haven't eaten much yet. I had some chicken from chicken and dumplings. left overs ya know. That was ok. I want something with flavor  Won't happen the next few days. I hate going out of town. teri

Constipation
I bought activia for that reason. Didn't believe the ads, but I'll tell you, since starting mushies, (and I start real food today) I can tell you this.... it's a lifesaver for me. And only 70 calories (light version), for 4 ounces. Leaves me feeling full, and I go almost daily, little bits. But if I miss a day, I'll go right back to constipated. Oh I tried the miralax, the colace, and even the benefiber. Not much relief, just lots of gas. Teri

I'll be away
I'm going out of town for my son's (2 1/2 yr old) surgery. He's having a port a cath put in for his hemophilia. I hate this. I don't want it. I think it's for the birds. But they've all but come out and said if I don't do it, and he gets hurt, they'll turn me in for neglect. I hate drs! So my perfect little one will have a scar the size of our port scars. He'll go thru the pain we have/are. He'll get needle sticks in it after a month, 3 times a week, and big bad mommy gets to do it. He's gonna absolutely hate me. That said... I am going with pre packaged meals. I'm moving to soft solids today. I found low calorie meals that are 1 serving, with high Protein levels (21- 23 grams). I'm also bringing my Protein shakes in case I don't tolerate the meals being stressed. I can get milk there. I also have several bottles of Water with me. I have my Vitamins packed. Diapers, pull ups (have to take his disabled twin with us) sippy cups, clothes for them, and me, toys (just a few), their meds, my meds, and my walking shoes  I'll be sure to be pacing the floor waiting to leave. While I'm gone my PC is going in the shop for some work. They're adding memory, and crashing the system, making sure everything works when I come home. I will get it sometime thursday afternoon. So I'm told. teri

September 30th's surgeries.
I just spoke to my surgeon about that. He said that some people get girgling noises that we're saying is growling, from their band. It's food slipping thru and some air with it. Sounds strange to me, but we'll get used to it he said. Teri

Umm...eating...

Lap-Band in Upstate NY
I will be away most of this week. Please don't worry about me. My youngest sons (the twins) are going with me to Albany NY, for surgery on the older twin. He has hemophilia. He is having a port a cath put in, so I can treat him at home. teri

September 16th surgeries
My first fill has been moved back to November 4th. Used to be the 23rd of October. I live in NY. OMG I bought a gazelle last night at walmart. Just the cheaper version. The website (www.walmart.com) has it for 107.99 and I go to the store, to look it over better, and it's on special for $40.00 so I bought it there, saving myself the $23.00 shipping. So I got it for 17 dollars more than the shipping would have cost. And i got it sooner. I will warn you... I could do the wii fit for an hour of step aerobics. OUCH Ten minutes later, I'm done for the day. It's gonna take me time to build up to that one for longer times. I like having something at home I can work out on. I don't often have sitters for the twins. So going to a gym is kindda difficult. And soon going out for walks with them will be difficult. So now I have something that folds up pretty well, and can put it out of the way, or put it in the middle of my living room in front of the tv, or a radio and work out. It's supposed to work both upper and lower body, plus abs. I can tell you the 10 minutes I did this morning I can definitely feel in my abs. Oh and I've measured myself this morning, and I'm down 6+, but not quite 6 and a half inches from my surgery date. Teri Teri

OK... it's October now, what's happening?
There are days I can get near 750, but i still average around 600 calories a day. I've only lost 3 pounds in the last week. I hoped for more. That said. Have you taken pre op measurements? Why do I ask? Because I've lost about 6 inches total this last week. My face, my tummy and my hips are all showing it. I've actually had people ask me what I'm doing to loose weight. Oh I walk major amounts, and watch what I'm eating now. :tongue2: They don't need to know, if #1 they didn't care to remember I had a lapband placed or #2, I just don't want them to know. Teri

Lap-Band in Upstate NY
My first fill got bumped until the first week of november. I'm upset about it, but not much I can do. My dr's have a call and get in fill list, when they can. Usually once you're fully healed it's within a week or so to get in for a fill. I've seen it with my friends from group. Teri

What does it take to stretch your band out?
That works for me too! teri

Saying Goodbye to Old Friends...
WTG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm with you... I started out in 22W, lost enough to get in to 20's and some 18W's pre op. Now I'm firmly in 18 with room to spare, and 16wWs I can wear, but my pulled muscle gets angry in them. It feels so good! Teri

OK... it's October now, what's happening?
We're mostly all banded... Nayray is coming up soon. How is everyone doing? When is your first fill? (or in the case of a few here, next?) How's the weight loss going? What about the food stages we're in? I'm doing ok. I've pulled some muscles in my upper abdomin/lower ribcage. Time will heal it, until then it'll be slow going. I've been approved for low impact exercise. I'm down a total of 12 pounds since my surgery, and only have 4 more days of mushies, and I get to slowly start a real food diet. I'm both excited, and dreading it. Not sure I'm ready to handle "freedom" of choice. I'm afraid i'll try to eat to much, and get stuck, or damage my band. Oh and my first fill is currently scheduled for November 4th. Second for December 3rd. Teri

Lap-Band in Upstate NY
Please let me know how your fill goes. Mine was pushed back until November 4th. Then the second is scheduled at this point for December 3rd. I'm wishing it could be done already. I've spent so much time coughing and sneezing these last two weeks. The dr said that, coupled with carrying Matthew around, caused some pulled muscles on my right side. It is really bothering me today. I took a pain pill for it last night, and will have to again tonight. Even with the pill last night, i slept maybe 3 hours in bits and pieces. Always good to see you posting Gilta. teri

Saying Goodbye to Old Friends...
I did an incredible amount of step aerobics pre op. That really helped... am having trouble getting back into it.... my stomach muscles are weak again. teri

Lap-Band in Upstate NY
The start of puree's for me slowed down my weight loss. I'm still loosing just VERY Slowly now. I'm down 3 pounds in a week. As opposed to 9 the week before. So I'll say that... I freaked thinking something was wrong with me. My first meal puree'd was chicken slow cooked in cut up stewed tomatoes, for 4 hours, and mashed potatoes. It actually was good. The other "favorite" for me on the mushies is scrammbled eggs, and cheese (fat free). teri

Any September Banders?
My surgeon says sometime between week 10 days and 21 days you hit a "slump" that you feel so tired. You all might be experiencing that. It's a side effect from the anesthesia he told me. That and the changes in how we get our nutrients. I've not hit it, but am 16 days post op. So time will tell. He also said not everyone gets it. So I'm hoping i'm a lucky one. I'm cleared for low impact aerobics, stationary bikes that type of things. So I'm starting today. Gonna feed the twins, then go to it :cool2: teri

Saying Goodbye to Old Friends...
I've already boxed up the size 22s and 20's I've been wearing. I'm firmly in a size 18W now, and can get into a 16w pretty well. My stomach still aches in them, so I stay baggy yet. I'm only 2 weeks post op. Teri

The 1st fill...
OH tamihott I am so with you. You have to work just as hard as anyone else with the weight loss. It just gives us a feeling of full for me for the first time in my life. I've never felt that sensation before. It's a wonderful thing. I'm down 16 pounds since my surgery, and no fill until 10/29. Teri

September 16th surgeries
I am cleared for low impact aerobics. I did about a hour to 90 minutes on the wii fit prior to the surgery, so I'm gonna start at 20 minutes. IF I feel up to more later, I'll do it again before bed. I'm glad I can finally do more activity. I actually enjoyed that fitness activity. I do have to avoid the Body check... because it involves weighing in. Not sure I wanna do that every day. The other thing I've also been cleared for is a exercise bike (it's turning cold, and wet here in NY), So i've ordered one off walmart.com. Teri

Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in
I did, and still do, but it is slowly un-indenting. (is that a real word?) I do have to say that incision has been my painful one. Not my port incision. My dr said he had to really push on that one. I love this area. My mom grew up on long island... huntington. She used to love the island, but doesn't think she could handle the traffic at her age. teri

September 16th surgeries
Let's see... For Breakfast I have 4 ounces of activia Light yogurt. 5 grams of Protein, and it "gets things moving". lunch for me lately has been my Protein shakes. I've been on the road a lot lately when it's lunch time (around noon-1 Pm). That's 28 grams of protein. dinner is at around 6:30 pm, and last few days ahve been pureed chicken (am sick of that). I have 3 ounces, or 21 grams of protein with that. Some veggie, which is usually about 2 grams of protein. And that's it. OH And lets never forget my 60 ounces of Water a day. I did have it checked out. He poked it prodded it. Checked me for fever, and concluded it's just muscular. I think he's right, because he had me tighten my muscles, and then he pushed on it. I about made a sky light in his office. But as soon as I relaxed the muscle, it was ok again. He's pleased with my 12 pound weight loss since the surgery. I'm happy too. He said I look great. Told him I had lost my prime care physician, and he has helped me get another. I see him the 22nd. Teri
