Like Neicey, I had my band placed yesterday. I came home last night. I'm sore, mostly where my gallbladder was. (Had it out years ago). Not where my port is. That's about 3 inches to the left (from my prospective). I am pretty sure it's because it's indented there. I feel pretty good other than that site. Have to check in with my dr's pa (bob) at 4 pm today. Fun stuff. I was banded in Cooperstown NY with Steven Heneghan MD. It was a wonderful experience. The dr's and nurses were great. My pre op nurse Tom had GB about 6 months ago, and has lost 100 pounds. I said I wasn't look to loose that quickly, but congratulated him. We started out about 80 pounds difference (he was heavier). He had nearly every co-morbity possible. I just had back pain (have several herniated discs) and diabetes. He's almost down to my pre op weight. I've already lost 30 pounds, he lost 11 preop. What else... oh make sure you have something liquid to take to get those bowels working again. With the pain meds, we're likely to get constipated. Teri

Oh and I lost 30 pounds from my first phone call to the group, and surgery date.

I got there at 10, was called down immediately for the whole preop, getting ready session. It was hurry up and wait. I expected labs to be taken, nope. Was asked if there was a chance I could be pregnant. NOPE, had a hysterectomy. Gowned, and asked a million questions. Then the anesthesiologist came in, and asked the same Million questions. Then announced his student would do my iv. UM>... I'm a hard stick. (probably the most pain I had all day). She tried 2 times. Then after a while the anesthesiologist tried once, got it in, but it wasn't a good one. So they used that to put me out, and then started yet another. Oh and the blood thinning shot. I woke up in the Recovery room. Was there a few minutes, then moved to the post anesthesia care unit. Then found out that even though they didn't think it would be possible, they'd try me at the swollow test. But I had to get up and walk walk walk. So I made 10 laps around their little area. So they called my surgeon and told him that the test would be a breeze for me, and how I'd just walked so many laps. So he started the discharge paperwork. I got out of there about 5:30 pm. I passed obviously the swollow test. And am home :thumbup: I slept flat on my back. Had a little trouble getting up from that this morning. I can start Water again in about 20 minutes, no desire though. I drank my Protein drink already this morning. YUCKY! But it's down. Well I gotta go say good bye to my oldest son. teri

I made it thru the storm. I am sore, mostly on the upper right side of my tummy, but I'm here. Teri

My surgery is now 3 and a half hours later than I was originally told. UGH! And I might have to spend the night :tt1: teri

Congrats Nayray. If I get a surprise + on my pee test tomorrow, I'm sueing someone I had a hysterectomy a year ago. I'm so happy for you. teri

I'm home also today, although I do have to go out for a bit... dumps and then therapy for my son. Then I'm making pudding, and jellos for me. Oh yea, stopping at the grocery store to grab more milk. That's important in this house (I have two sons that are milkaholics). teri

This is my day too, so I'm gonna do this early, as I have a ton of things to do before hand. I have three kids to drop off, and have to be there at 6 am. So it will be a long day. My dr decides based on the information they get from the endoscopy, and phsyical finding they find when they get in there. I only get to decide HIGH or LOW profile ports. I'm thinking low. teri

I never even had to do a special diet. I just had to loose 5% of my weight... which for me was 13 pounds. I lost 27. I too have PCOS, endometriosis, diabetes, fibromyalgia. ETC! I'll be banded tuesday. It's funny, having been practicing the serving sizes we're allowed post op, I've actually gotten to where that's what I am satisfied at. But am hungry an hour later. The band helps with that. I gave up sweets. That was hard, and soda too! But I did it. And trust me if I can anyone can. Teri

I don't have a special pre op diet, but had to loose 5% of my weight. I've gone well beyond that. I've lost 26 pounds (my surgery is tuesday). To me 6 weeks of optifast is a living hell. I couldn't do it. But loosing a percentage of your weight, yea I can do that. And I only have 1 week of liquids post op. I've done that to see if I can post op. Then I graduate to purees for two weeks. Again I've experimented with it. And it wasn't bad. Personally, I've seen others in my September group, who've started this liquid diet and loose a lot of weight the first week, then drop right off, to one or two pounds a week. So maybe you won't drop 30 or 40 pounds. Sorry to burst your bubble. Good luck with your surgery, and I'm glad you are happy with your program. I'm absolutely loving my program, my dr's and the rest of the staff in my bariatric team. Teri

I'm starting to get nervous! I'm glad the day is nearing... and yes I'm glad the weekend is coming, then we only have monday to contend with. Monday I'll have therapy for the twins, so that'll make it go faster. And last minute shopping, and like that. What are your plans for the weekend? Teri
