  1. It's ok. Believe it or not, they're seriously underweight. So the dr said to do it often. They don't go very often, because I don't like all the grease. And I get them the apples instead of fries, and chicken. So it's hard. I need to loose, they need to gain. And according to the pedi, any means is great right now. I actually got the smaller one to drink the protein drinks with me :cursing: And they are both water addicts now They prefer the good foods now much more than the junk. teri
  2. I weigh in twice a week... saturday and wednesdays. It's just easier on me. I don't have to fight the urge if it's just a few days away. And I see minor differences each time. Sometimes it's as small as half a pound. But hey I'll take it. I'm eating activia light yogurt each morning. I've finally beaten the bowel problems I had initially. Thanks Activia. I can eat just about anything I want, except.... and I don't recommend trying it. I was feeding my little one with cerebral palsy a sandwich. Got to the last bite, and he didn't want it. STUPID me, I pop it in my mouth. I chewed and chewed... and it got stuck! I got up and started walking, and it finally fixed itself. Was kindda freaky. How would I explain to my surgeon what I did? But it did finally pass... with no sliming or vomitting. Thank God. Well I have a recheck with my surgeon today. I do have a concern... Where they used the tool to hold back my liver, hurts like heck yet. I'm worrying something might have been damaged or an infection. Probably unrealistic, but OUCH! teri
  3. Gosh I know where all those towns are. My sister lives in Williamson. She had the bypass YEARS ago. She failed miserably. She lost 240 pounds in 18 months, then proceeded to gain it back. She weighs more than I do now. Anyway, she's mad at me because I chose the band. I think the band is a better fit for my personality. I need that monthly (initially) check in with my dr. The monitoring with the dietitian. My dr's offices require a lot of visits the first year, the second year it's 4 times a year, and it stays that way for a while. I can deal with that. She literally had 5 post op visits, and most of them were the first 3 months post op. I'll have that many before Christmas at this rate. I'm down a total of 12 pounds in 2 weeks. I'm starting to really deal with hunger issues though. I'm looking forward to getting in some exercise. Walking here has been difficult, as it's been horribly wet or cold and I have two two yr olds that I have to take with me walking. The twin stroller died, so I don't have one. I'm ordering this morning a recombant stationary bike. It should be here in a few days. Teri
  4. Hi Stephanie. I'm also a new yorker. I was banded on the 16th of this month. I feel pretty doggone good as long as I don't attempt to lay on the right side... which is where they used the tool to move my liver. My surgeon said my liver was nice and healthy looking, so I don't know why. I see him later today. Anyway, I'm in the cooperstown NY area. What about you? (general is ok). Welcome to the group. Teri
  5. very limited fats... I'll look it up as soon as the baby on my lap wakes up. I'm getting about 500 calories a day. Maybe 600,but no more than 650 on any given day. I'm down my first week of mushies, one more week and it's normal foods for me. I did cheat so to speak, I had tuna fresh from the can (in water) and just chewed the heck out of it for lunch today. With a tablespoon of low fat mayo. I hate the fat free one. My kids ate it on bread, I had it straight up. I can still taste it about 2 hours later. teri
  6. I have the lapband AP. My dr chose it for me, because it has 360 degree fill area. Where the Realize doesn't. I'm very happy this far with mine. And it's dr's preference if they pre fill or not. My surgeon does not, but his partner does. Teri
  7. Just keep working with it. Remember the band is a tool, not a magic cure. IT takes time. I'm still completely unfilled. I can eat major amounts it feels, but really I can't. I get so stinking hungry, but then it's BAM I have to stop. So there is some restriction. Wait before you panic that the band isn't gonna work for/with you. Give them time to get it right. Good luck  teri
  8. WTG Birchmoon. I lost 29 pounds pre op. I just watched what I ate, and worked out. Teri

  10. Wishing luck, and fast healings and lots of prayer for : Ambraberger and LW5 We're thinking of you Teri
  11. Oh slim, one suggestion for the head hunger, Do something. If you're truely hungry it won't go away and half an hour later if you're still hungry it's because you're truely hungry- so they say. The thing that is working for me, is I drink when I get that head hunger. It also helps. teri
  12. I am also dealing with the head hunger. Teri
  13. I added pre surgery to my ticker. Otherwise it looks pretty sad yet. I'm not quite two weeks post op. Teri
  14. It's not to terrible with my normal 2 yr old> But i have one with cerebral palsy, with a lot of needs. He's been a little difficult. Teri
  15. Well good news is some goes quickly. I'm already off my diabetes meds. I've been off them since the day of surgery. Teri

  17. I'm 2 weeks ahead of you, and althought 5 of them aren't painful (including my port)< I have one that hurts. Not aches. I see the surgeon on wednesday. Hopefully he'll explain that one to me. Teri
  18. I don't have a fill either, nothing until the 29th (almost 6 weeks). I'm hoping they bump it up. Teri
  19. OMG I'm hungry for the first time... but it's head hunger :bolt: Gosh the thread is so full of great ideas. Teri
  20. I had my surgery on tuesday. I had to drive for an emergency on FRIDAY. OMG It hurt so bad I came home and cried (and took pain pills-smashed). I'm 10 days now post op, and even now, yes the driving is better, but I had several stops yesterday (friday's my son's therapy day) and I seriously was overly sore. teri
  21. GOOD LUCK with your fill on the first. I'll see my surgeon that day too, but not for a fill. It's my first follow up with him since my surgery. So I'll be thinking of you. And lucky me, I get to stay there all day, as my twins have check ups that day as well, two hours later. I'll bring my protein shake (will be there thru lunch) and get the boys some mc d's. No problem not eating that junk. Teri
  22. My dr Bob called today. Gosh I love that man! Anyway I asked him why I got one over the other. The Realize he said had a gap in the balloon, and they felt for me, and my needs I should have the all around balloon( where they fill the band). I'm glad they thought of that. Teri
  23. #5 could be getting off medications our obesity added. Saves us money on copayments, and the side effects
  24. They said they'd be filling me agressively. I'm glad for that, but yet scared. NOt a huge fan of needles  But they know I seriously need to get healthy. Teri
