  1. I do at times. My dr's warned me because of being diabetic I'd have it more than say a non-diabetic. But in support group I hear it's pretty evenly spread. teri
  2. As a stubborn lady myself, all you can do is encourage her, and be there for her. But don't be pushy. Teri
  3. I know my messed up body is gonna hold on to every ounce of fat it can.... unless I work it off. So I'm working... hard most days. It's a real struggle with the boys, but I'm lucky in that, the twins sleep until 7:30ish, so i get my oldest up for school. Make his breakfast, and go to the exercises at home. Then I get him moving (as he's usually back to sleep again), and go shower. Then the twins get up. I eat breakfast with them. It's the only way I get a chance. If the twins are up early, or something happens I can't get it in, and I'm done for the day. I did it because the boys need their momma for a long time yet. Even my oldest will need me around for a while longer. And my diabetes was getting worse. I had pain in my joints, and my dr's couldn't decide if it was arthritis or my weight. Truthfully I still don't know. But I hope to eliminate the weight factor. Well anyway, Thanks for the compliment Dot. You're doing great too. I'm proud to have met such wonderful people here. Teri
  4. Truth be told... I have 100 more pounds to loose. So like you I have a lot to loose, but have only lost 14 since surgery. This last week, I've lost and gained the same 2 pounds.( teri
  5. I got sick the day after my band was placed. I coughed myself right into have bronchitis. That said... I have had no problems with my band. I wish I had more restriction, but that's coming. teri
  6. I just wanted to say, and have wanted to say... Thank you all for the support, prayers, and encouragement. You are a wonderful group of people, and with each other, we will conquer the scale  teri
  7. I just wanted to encourage you, you should not ever be afraid to call your dr. They're there to help you. They want the best for you. You, or your insurance company, pay them a lot of money to help you get to your goal. You've done wonderfully, but I see you want more... so just work with your dr. Good luck teri
  8. For me, I was in excellent control prior to the band, but had to go off the byetta. Byetta according to my dr can cause damage to the band itself. So I chose to go off, and see where things lay. As long as I do my exercise daily (which sould be all it takes), I am in normal ranges. BUT days I don't exercise, I should take something for my sugar. Right now I don't. I've lost 44 pounds total. BUT funny thing to me, I always had blood pressures of like 110/68, now I'm running high 130's over high 80's. So I am heading for medication for that. I've been under a lot of stress, so hopefully that eases. And maybe my bp will go back to normal. I am scheuduled to see my endocrinologist the 24th, am trying to reschedule. But if I have to wait to long, I'll move my other appt. I'm thinking he may put me on a sliding scale insulin, until I loose enough weight I don't need it. Teri
  9. Sash, have you ever saw a physical therapist about your planter facisitis. I have it, and have had a lot of benefit from seeing one, when it flares. Teri
  10. My upper GI and endoscopy said I had a huge hiatal hernia, and surprise to me, and my surgeon, he got in there, and nothing. good luck with your surgery. teri
  11. I have had several people mention my weight loss. I don't see it however. teri
  12. Sadie this person posted back in 2006. God only knows where they are, or how they've done since then.
  13. I've lost my extra chin, and have cheek bones. I've also discovered I have hip bones too. My collar bone is there now too. I like these changes. teri
  14. You're loosing inches instead of pounds. Which is also beneficial. teri
  15. That's so funny... but oh so one of my struggles teri
  16. since surgery 14 is all teri
  17. I was about to look for you. I'm glad you're healing, and getting back into a good routine. It's difficult, more than I remembered. Teri
  18. I have trouble with eating before noon as well Neicey.. I do get a protein shake in each morning, because otherwise I'm not at my goal for protein each day. But that's ok. I'm drinking tons, and still stuck. I'm getting frustrated. Course I've bumped up my exercise routine, so maybe I'm building muscle, because I'm loosing or shifting things around I'm loosing top down inches wise now. My chest i've lost an entire bra size... went from a 38 d to a 36 c. My next part of my stomach is nearly flat. No more roll there, so much so that my port is very easily detected. So much so, if you look at me from the wrong angle you can see the lump where my port is. That's kinda freaking me out a bit. The dr that does my fills, said that sooner or later they'll have to put a low profile port in. Because that will continue to become a problem. I had my first fill this week, I have a total of 4 ccs in my 10 cc band. I go for another cc November 25th... 2 days before thanksgiving. Thankfully My dr's only make you be on liquids that day, mushies the next day. And then the third day (which would be thanksgiving) I can eat real food. I'm a bit nervous, something might end up stuck, but I'll deal. Teri
  19. It is better that way, but it really isn't needed, so I'm just going to stop trying. Bread has always been a bad food for me (diabetic), so I shouldn't have been eating it for 5 yrs. teri
  20. I plan on being a big part of my local support group for years to come. I have taken over the clothing exchange, and help organize things. To bad I can't organize my house teri
  21. not what i'm seeing. Several people in the original first lapbandsters in my local clinic have their bands still. They've been doing the band for 7+ yrs. And my personal mentor has had hers for 5 yrs and looks great. Teri
  22. I got the Jillian game. Truthfully, I've not had the delay anyone else here has complained about. Plus I just went to training, and did custom training and had a choice of activities. I didn't have to do the running. I did though. Burned off a bunch of calories  Always a good thing. And I did my wii fit free steps this morning. I have to update my ticker now. I will be keeping it. I won't be using it daily like I do the wii fit. Oh I mentioned wii fit, because I bumped the free step up to 30 minutes today. I was a puddle with that, and now with the jillian game. The graphics aren't the best, and some of the activities will need fine tuning before I really get it. Like the boat rowing, I was so totally lost (my kids stood in front of the tv during the directions). The jumping one I don't quite get. Teri
  23. Breads are difficult on band people. I can not do bread... I get stuck EVERY time. I am having issues with giving up bread...a nd admit it. I had restriction the first I'd say 3 almost 4 weeks. I didn't get my first fill until 7 weeks post op. I only got 1 cc added to what I thought was an empty band. Not true I found out. I had 3 ccs in my band at surgery, and went to 4 ccs this week. I can feel a difference. Is it where I need to be? No. But I get another fill in 2 weeks. Teri
  24. Carbonation is a risky thing. Many people decide to go back to it, but it can displace your band... and why take it in, when it's so filled with sodium and calories. Sodium makes me swell. teri
