    *THC & Drug Screening*

I haven't had any THC since last summer - however I have neighbors that smoke weed on their porch and in their bathroom and the smell gets into my apartment pretty strongly... I am wondering if this is going to show up in my drug screening before surgery and make me look like a liar 😞 I mean, it is every.single.day that I walk through my hallway and it's like someone is smoking in the next room with the door open. When they are smoking on their porch and I'm on mine, I have to go inside it's so strong.

You look so amazing! Except your pants are just hanging on you. Get thyself to a thrift store or department store and get some pants that fit 🙂 Congratulations on your transformation!

    Clear protein stage after surgery

Would Unjury Chicken Stock qualify? https://unjury.com/products/unjury-protein/chicken-soup-flavor.html
  4. I don't know the answer to your question, but you have my permission to tell this person who said that to you to f*ck right off. They don't live in your body, you do, and if you feel good at that weight, then you don't need their opinion. Opinions are like a$$holes... everyone has one and some are stinkier than others.

    STEP TRACKER for Android

@over65 what app is that? Is it Fit Bit?
  6. I do agree with you here for sure - everyone's picture of health comes at a different weight. She might be trying to decide between surgeries though and I know I pored over different statistics seeing which surgery would bring me closer to the weight I wanted to be at without too many risks and the best chance of long term success.
  7. You're close - 300 - 145 = 155 . 60% of 155 is 93, putting the end weight at 207. The desired weight is not what is used in this equation though. It is bone and muscle mass. That is determined usually by a special scale at the dr's office. If 145 was the weight of the bone and muscle mass then this equation would be correct. For example, I weighed 260 at the doctor's at my initial visit - the scale found 130 of that to be bone and muscle and the other 130 to be excess weight. So using the same formula, I'd lose 60% of 130, so 78 lbs, putting my "success" weight at 182. Does this help?

    Weight gain?

How is your weight loss now @vanessa.0419 ? Are you feeling better about your results? I like to measure my results by how I feel and how my clothes fit more than numbers on a scale... but at my weight the scale needs to move too lol P.S. I'm still pre-op I'm not sure how to get this darn thing on the left to change, I decided on RnY but haven't gotten it yet.
  9. Same height- I was in my 20’s, jogged, worked out - and at 135 you could see my ribs. Was not a good look. 140 is the lowest I want to go. I’m also 2 more kids later and 50 years old now so 150 seems reasonable.

    Sexual Dysfunction

Many ppl who are low on testosterone can take testosterone, but it’s usually in shot or skin cream form. Pill is prob viagra or similar. (The original poster was from 2014 prob not still here)
  11. My dr had me make my own goal weight, based on how I feel in my skin at that weight.
  12. THIS!!!!!! I am so tired of medical professionals not believing me when I say "I ate 1200 cal/day for 3 months and lost only 3 lbs". I did not cheat. Yes that really happened. I logged every morsel I put in my mouth. Just because you can't figure out why my body is not losing doesn't mean I am cheating.

    Just got my date!!

Thanks @CephalopodLove ! My next nutritionist appt is Aug 25, and if she is happy with my progress, my surgical team will send my packet to insurance for final approval, and as soon as insurance gives a thumbs up (they get 30days to respond) I'll get a date. It seems like forever but I am trying to be patient. Some months in my life go so fast and others creep by!

There is also a "Weight Loss Surgeons and Hospitals" forum that you might try asking this question on. I found info on the hospital I was using there even when a search of all boards didn't come up with good results.

    Anyone else?

And also, don't forget the psychologist that is on your weight loss care team is always available to help with bumps in the road regarding your weight. At least I just had my first appointment with mine, and that's what she told me. Use the tools you have, and keep prioritizing your health, however you can. You went through a lot to get here!

    Tomorrow is the day.

I'm so glad you were able to get this done when you did. I have seen more than one post from someone from FL that had their surgery postponed because of the 'rona. Phew!

    Just got my date!!

Congratulations all of you! That's awesome! I can't wait for my date!
  18. YES!!!!! I was and still am an advocate for fat acceptance. I learned to love myself just the way I was... Until my bloodwork started coming back with struggling organs... I wasn't able to tie my shoes... I couldn't walk without pain... Each of us has the right to choose what to do with our bodies. When we are fine and when we need help. It's not hypocritical at all. Self love is important at all shapes and sizes.

    Tattoos

I am eager to see what everyone is getting, I have thought about doing this and haven't finalized on a design yet. But I have 110 lbs before that happens so I have some time

+1 on Geneen Roth books, she has definitely BTDT and has great advice.

    Weight gain?

This might be a silly question but why do you think you're doing something wrong? 1-3 lbs of variation between days is totally normal, based on how much water you drank/got rid of, whether you pooped the day before, etc. Don't sweat it. This is why I never weigh myself more often than weekly.
  22. Hi all and thanks for all the support so far! After reading all over this board, looking at med journal articles online, and talking to different people on my care team I am 90% sure I'm going to do the Roux en Y (with any luck in Sept/Oct). I have seen a few articles and references to different mm lengths for the roux limb... what does this do? Does shorter mean less absorption = more weight loss? Of course I'm going to ask my surgeon before I make a final decision but I want to have some knowledge under my belt first. Bonus for links to articles online. and THANK YOUUUUUUU
  23. minimamaz00m

    Length of roux limb?

So longer is more malabsorption (bypassed more area)? or shorter (i have a shorter small intestine)?

    Open incision

Yes please send that to your dr, I had something that looked like that once, and it was an extremely antibiotic resistant infection 😞
  25. Even if you had to do 2 different surgeons, it sure would be great to use the same time off work for both. Do you have help at home if it's hard to prepare your meals/etc after surgery?
