  1. I agree. If you tell yourself "I can never have _______" again, you will probably want it MORE! I went to dinner with my sister, and while I did not let them leave the bread basket (luckily she is also on a diet), I did have two amazing bites of cheesecake...and that was enough! I brought the rest home and told my son "Eat it or throw it away!" so I wouldn't be tempted. I know that I can't keep those things in my house, but if I'm out, then I will indulge (a little!).

    Unflavored Protein Powder

I have used Genepro and Root Vitality Collagen powder. I bought the Collagen powder for my skin and nails (before I even considered WLS) but it does have 10 grams of protein and stirs EASILY into my hot coffee. I use Genepro (30 grams of protein) with things like protein bites, protein jello shots (not as much fun as the ones I had in college) and stirred into refried beans and other cooked items that are not boiling.

    Feeling so hungry today

I was also told that stomach acid will mimic hunger...so if you were prescribed an antacid, take it, even if you don't feel like you have "heartburn" or acid reflux. Good luck!

Am i gonna puke all the time??

I only vomited once...due to eating eggs at about two weeks out. I was able to eat eggs at 6 weeks out with no issue, but that was the ONLY time I threw up.

    Over ricotta need something new

    Refried beans saved my life!
  9. Stalls are common...and frustrating! I keep having stalls, some short, some long, but eventually the weight DOES come off! Also, pay attention to how you look and feel. I have found that the changes in appearance seem to be most noticeable when I am not actually losing weight (as strange as that sounds!). I have slowed to about 10 pounds per month after the first month, but I'm half way to goal and as long as it keeps coming off, I am happy! Good luck!!!

    Super new to this group

I take Colace every other night now. I hope I don't have to do that forever, but if so, it's not that bad! From everything I have read, don't wait too long before taking something! I took an OTC laxative, which took care of things. I take Colace (stool softener) to avoid getting stopped up and having to take a laxative.
  11. Oh yes! Get Swanson's Sipping Broth. You heat it in the microwave for about a minute and it has 45 calories and 9 grams of protein. It comes in some flavors, I liked plain or Rosemary and Lemon the best. Double whammy, liquid and protein. Good luck!
  12. I'm sure I don't have to ask this, but have you contacted your surgeon? That is not normal recovery and you need to stay hydrated. Please call them if you haven't!

    How is everyones progress?

Congratulations!! That is such great progress! I'm at 3 months and one day...still waiting to make it half way to goal, but feeling confident that this is the right choice for me and best decision I have made!

    Upper right part of back

No. I did not. I just remember thinking what in the heck is this new pain?? And taking a pain pill. I say it was gas (based on everything I've read here) but since it went away the next day, I never discussed it with my doctor. What did your doctor say it was?

    Upper right part of back

It's probably gas. I had gas pains far later than I thought I would. It was almost in that exact spot! I ended up taking my last pain pill one night and going to bed early to sleep it off. It was gone the next day. That being said, if it persists call your doctor.

    Gastric Sleeve

I had Dr. Shillingford do my surgery. I hear that they have an amazing bariatric wing in the hospital they do their surgeries in. Unfortunately, due to Covid, I had mine outpatient with a nurse attendant at the Hampton Inn for one night. That being said, I have had no complications and I am not depressed because I have been out to dinner several time and as Gator says above, I can still eat, just not as much! I'm down 44 pounds in 3 months (7/30 was my surgery date) and feel great!
  19. Congratulations!! I hope it's a breeze! Stay ahead of the pain is my advice.

    Yum! Thank you!

    Meds

How long will you be in the hospital? I was supposed to be in the hospital for two nights, in which case, I probably would not have needed pain meds. But it turned out (thank you, COVID) that I was outpatient and needed pain meds until Day 3. And I agree, speak to your surgeon about pain management post surgery.

New to the forum, had surgery Monday

I was surprised by where I felt that gas pains, and how it came back on day 4 or 5 after being fine on day 3! It was in my right shoulder and HOLY MOLY it hurt! I actually ended up taking a pain pill and going to bed early. It was gone the next day, so phew! This too shall pass...congratulations!!
  24. I had two fears: 1) Not losing weight...I am, so yay! 2) Not being able to eat out and go out with my friends...even at 2 1/2 months, I have been able to go out and have an "almost normal" dinner. I took my sister out for a "Magical Dining" meal for her birthday, three courses at Ruth's Chris. I had a few bites of the lobster bisque, most of the lobster bits (no bread), about half of a 6 oz filet and two (absolutely delicious) bites of cheesecake. It was yummy and so worth it! I brought the leftovers home and my sin really enjoyed them! (He still won't eat in a restaurant!) I didn't fear death or complications, and suffered from neither! Good luck!

My surgeon said to drink another shake if you are extremely hungry...no limits on shakes for my surgeon.
