    everything tastes gross!

It should get better every day. Experiment with temperatures and flavors...sometimes taste buds change. Good luck!!

    Coffee

Agreed. My surgeon said decaf for 6 months, but when I whined explained about how much I miss my morning coffee and that decaf (which he allowed in the hospital) was not cutting it, he gave me permission to have one to two "not too hot" cups of regular coffee each day. I mix mine with Premier Protein Caramel or Fairlife Vanilla (about 1/3 of a serving) and Collagen Peptides to get a major protein boost first thing in the morning.
  3. Probably TMI here, but be careful where and when you eat these (at least at first!) I brought them to work (before WLS) and they made me VERY gassy! Like, I had to go home or embarrass myself gassy! Just be careful...that's all I'm saying!
  4. I'm so sorry that you are going through this!! As Dr Phil says "You can't fix what you don't acknowledge" so it sounds like you are getting on the right path! Congratulations on kicking the alcohol habit! Definitely not easy. I am fairly new here (well, almost 6 months out), but I have read a lot about the "pouch reset" which involves about a week of going back to basics. I think you need to get on a scale and then focus on protein and water goals again! Good luck!!

Eating too much? 3 months out

Honestly? I think that is too many carbs. I have a hard enough time (almost 6 months out) getting in my protein if I add veggies! However, I have discovered that chips (especially Kettle Cooked Jalapeno Chips) go down SOOOOO easy! (I avoid those now!) I try to limit carbs to one meal a day (or zero) but I will have Special K High Protein cereal for breakfast OR a Carb Balance tortilla with lunch OR some potatoes with dinner...not all three. I'm losing weight slowly, but steadily, and I have HIGH hopes for keeping it off!
  9. Amazing! That looks great...especially for only being 5dpo!!
  10. I can't wait to see the after photos! Your recovery is going great! Prayers for continued complication free, speedy recovery!

    30 second elevator interview

Hi! I'm Kelly. I'm a Director of Finance with a sense of humor! I live with my 25 year old transgender son, 1 dog and 4 cats (my son kept bringing home feral kittens). I love my hot tub, reading and champagne, all at the same time! It's nice to meet everyone!
  12. What is a compression machine? Was it provided or did you rent it? Inquiring minds want to know!

    Hot Chip Lovers Rejoice

I find that the "corn" chips are way better than the "potato" chips. I can't wait to try these. I ordered a sample pack off of Bariatric Pal.

    Nervous

Agreed! There will be some pain, but in a few days it will be gone. There will be growing pains...but you will be shrinking! I have been out to eat several times, I have had a few cocktails and I just ate the most scrumptious lobster bisque for lunch...made with last night's leftover lobster. Leftovers and appetizers will be a way of life...but things all work out!

    Rant/Vent: Failure

This is the sweetest note...and I agree with everything ChubRub said! You can do this, but talk to your doctor and if you were seeing a nutritionist or dietician, see about getting them involved, as well. Focus on healthy food, protein and water. It may not happen as quickly as before, but it will happen. Good luck!
  18. I liked Swanson Sipping Bone broth after surgery (and still). It's 45 calories and 9 grams of protein and comes in a handy container that you heat in the microwave for 90(?) seconds. It comes in plain chicken, Rosemary/Lemon or Ginger/Tumeric. You are very smart to get samples...I have giant containers of protein powder (highly recommended) that I can't stand. I do like the pre-mixed Fairlife shakes and Premier Protein Caramel and Cookies and Cream the best, Good luck!!!

I am not liking any food

I think 4-6 oz might be too much. Maybe start with 2 oz portions of food. I had an issue with eggs early on, where I ate too much (2 eggs) and paid for it in the bathroom and feeling sick and dizzy for the rest of the day. I found them revolting for the next 6 weeks or so. Now, they're okay, but I don't like them the way I once did!
  20. Last night, I was eating a taco (on a low carb fajita tortilla) and my stomach "burbled" and my dog was there in an instant, ie. before I knew I was full, I think my dog, Lola knew! LOL My son said she was like a service dog, but instead of signaling on low blood sugar, she signals when I'm full, so she can have my leftovers! LOL

    Iron Overload

I also had dangerously high levels of iron, I was taking a multivitamin with 45mg of iron (my motto has always been more is better!) I stopped for the past two onths, but now I'm going to try one with 18mg of iron until my next bloodwork (which should be in February with my surgeon).

    weight gain and Water intake?

Bone broth is fluid and counts towards protein as well!

    Sleep

I do. I only started after surgery, since I had to quit my 2 to 3 glasses of wine method. I also bought melatonin 3AM for when I wake up in the middle of the night. I seem to be getting better sleep (according to my apple watch!)
