I am getting mine pretty easily, BUT the required amount is 60 grams AND they said for the first week that was aspirational. 80 g is a lot! I am having a harder time getting the 64oz on water/liquids, but getting at least 40. You can only do what you can do!

    Hi All!
I'm a long-time lurker and decided to join the club since this has been my #1 visited site for many months now. Due to COVID, my surgery was postponed to 6/18 so I am 5 days post-op. The day of surgery and the following 3 days were the most painful days of my life, and I almost regretted even going through with all of this. It was somewhat surprising since a lot of people on here seem to not have much pan post-op. I had trouble getting in any fluids, even Water, and didn't even think about Protein until the 2nd day after surgery. I was discharged from the hospital the next day and spent the next couple of days at my parents' house which was tough because I had to watch them eat all this good food and I couldn't touch anything. It was mostly head hunger, but due to my extremely low energy levels and the fact that I hadn't eaten for a few days, I definitely felt like I wanted to eat something. I got off the pain meds as soon as I could so I could drive back to my own house where I had everything I needed and no distractions or temptations. From reading this site, every doctor seems to have a different recovery plan, mostly the timing. My doctor said Clear Liquids for the first week after surgery, and at Day 5 post-op I am aiming to finally get the recommended 64oz of fluids and 64g of protein which has eluded me the past few days. My pre-op journey started in early November 2019. I lost about 20lbs prior to surgery. I am already down 10lbs post-op. I am hoping that once I can move to a full liquid diet, my energy levels will increase and I can resume some form of exercise and really get as much weight off as I can during this honeymoon period. Right now, I am pretty sedentary and just fighting to stay awake for an entire day and walk around a little. Before surgery, I was walking or hiking for about an hour a day, 5-7 days/week, but I think it is going to be a slow road getting back to that.

i was sleeved 6/11 and doing well. No real pain so that is good. My real problem right now is getting even three Protein Drinks in. Three weeks of these and I'm so DONE. I put in a call to my doctor to see if I could start pureed foods to add to the Protein drinks. I was walking, but it's been 90 and humid here for the last week with no end in sight so went to Target just to walk around. I got tired quickly and came home. I do seem to need a nap everyday. I get my Fluid in, but my calories are only about 500 a day. I dream of greasy pizza. Maybe that's why I like to sleep, ha Generally no complaints. 15 lbs down since start of pre-op diet.

sounds like everything's progressing as it should. And yes - you'll be able to eat more once your stomach heals.

The Protein Drinks go towards your total daily Fluid intake. They are 11oz each so if you have two per day, that's 22oz right there.

I'm 15 days post-op - and started soft foods today. It's been a challenge! I literally had 1/3 of a scrambled egg for Breakfast, 1/3 for lunch, and 1/3 for dinner. And 1 tablespoon of grits with 1 teaspoon of light cream cheese. I did the whole mash into tiny bites, and I took breaks between each tiny bite, and chewed well - which was really weird trying to chew a bite the size of a pencil eraser 15 times. I'm going to have to have a Protein Shake at some point tonight to try and boost my Protein. And my stomach is *really* grumbling tonight. I really haven't had a hard time with full liquids - after the first few days. I'm hoping soft foods will kinda be like liquids were at first - and I'll be able to eat more in a few days? And I haven't gotten in my 64 ozs of Water today either - with the whole stop 30 mins before and 30 mins after - and also, if I feel pressure in my chest, my surgeon wants me to wait 2 hours before eating or drinking - which I did that after breakfast. Oh well - I know it's just a goal, and it should get better in a few days - and those few bites of egg did really taste good! Not sure if anyone else experienced the same thing?

I can eat turkey sausage; I either cut it up and cook it with some diced tomatoes and spinach, or open the sausage and cook it like crumbles. I've done that with rice cauliflower, garlic and Cajun spice, and also with diced tomatoes, Italian spices and baked a spaghetti squash. I use either a tsp of fresh grated parmesan cheese, or a tablespoon of low fat shredded cheddar. It's pretty high in Protein.
I have brought a couple of slices of deli turkey with some low fat shredded cheese to work for lunch; just make a little roll up. Chew, chew, chew. 2 slices fills me up nicely. I've had some sugar free apple sauce with that.
I've been making little one egg omelets; I use one egg and 3 tbl of egg beaters (=1 egg white); I fill it with spinach, some Dash, and a little part skim mozzarella or the low fat cheddar. I have new little plates, and it fills it up. I usually can't eat it all.
I bought some pre-made, pre-cooked turkey meatballs; I had to cook them in the tomatoes at first to get them soft enough; tonight I just baked come and had it on a bed of very well cooked broccoli. My husband likes them, so I made him a little Pasta with oil and garlic. He's been a sport with all the mushy vegetables.
I also love fish; I have baked salmon with no fat greek yoghurt and Cajun spices or lemon and garlic. Heat a non-stick pan with a generous coating of cooking spray; cook skin side down for a minute or 2; then place in a baking dish, brush the top of the filets with the seasoned yoghurt; bake at 400 for about 20 minutes. Nice and moist.
I've also made tilapia; thin tilapia cooks in minutes; fry with cooking oil; then make a "sauce" with the no fat greek yoghurt; I did lemon and garlic. Yummy. Nice with cauliflower rice.
Tomorrow I am making some split pea Soup. I'll use that for lunches next week. I am hoping I can "hide" some Protein Powder in the soup to get some protein bang.
Also easy; Rotisserie chicken! I make chicken salad with the left overs; I have been using mayo made with olive oil; half the calories, and I like the taste. And of course good old tuna salad; lots of protein!
I figure if I can get a little variety I am less likely to loose my mind! And less likely to sabotage things.

I was sleeved 6/3 - spent 1 night in the hospital. Went back to work on Monday (but working from home because of COVID). I start soft foods tomorrow! Feeling pretty 'normal' - but if I sip too fast or too much, my new stomach HURTS (well, it's not my stomach so much as my chest) - so I've been using timers. Getting 64 ozs Water, 24 ozs Bone Broth, 11.5 ozs of Protein Shake in a day. I'm a little nervous to start 'real' foods tomorrow after 4 weeks on this all-liquid diet. Still feel kinda weak at times. Not really working out yet - other than the 40 mins of walking that my surgeon recommends - and some incidental exercise going to the grocery store and costco. My surgeon has me taking 1 Flintstones Complete chewable Vitamin A day - so I take that at night with my Prozac. It makes me a tad nauseated - but I try and fall asleep pretty quickly after taking it (same trick I used when I was pregnant and taking prenatal vitamins). I'm down almost 27 lbs in 4 weeks (only weighing myself once a week) - which is really, really wild. I know that will stall/plateau - so I'm trying not to focus so much on that - and focus more on how my clothes fit - but it feels pretty surreal right now. I really appreciate all the support of this group.

Hey everyone I was sleeved on June 10th. I’ve been doing okay for the most part, but my back has been pretty painful. I’m not sure if it’s a combination of the actual surgery and gas, or from my posture when I walk since it hurts to stand up straight. I’ve been using a heating pad on and off for that. My biggest incision still hurts and it feels like something “pulls” inside. But, nothing that limits me from walking around and doing my usual daily tasks. In a couple of days I get to start my full liquids. So far, no nausea and I’m able to get down my 64oz of Fluid with no problem. I’m down 16lbs since a couple of days before surgery so I guess everything is going in the right direction.

We’re surgery twins! HW: 378 SW: 319.8 CW: 300. I lost a majority of that weight the first two weeks then it stopped/slowed at weeks 3 & 4. My nutritionist said it’s normal and that my body will go into self preservation mode throughout the process due to the rapid weight loss. I can fit comfortably into clothes that were uncomfortable or unbearable to wear before and I feel good. I went from a 28-30 to 22 already. I’m super excited to see where I’ll end up. This journey can get frustrating but I can’t rely solely on the scale to measure my progress.

We may have longer journeys but you still get to enjoy life every step of the way!
Dont wait for goal to start your life! I’m still a big girl (over 200 pounds) but I’ve been trying all kinds of things that I thought were reserved for thin beautiful girls:
Online dating. Yoga. Gym. Speaking up at work. Wearing expensive skinny jeans. Walking the dog during the day time. Shopping at real stores intead of online. Smiling and speaking to strangers.
Maybe that sounds weird or small, but when you start where I started on this journey, it’s not just about losing weight. It’s losing the feelings of shame.
I’m grateful for the insane, difficult, beautiful, horrible long journey that I’m on. It wouldn’t have been the same if I had only had to lose 60 pounds to get to goal.
When I hit my goal, it’s going to be amazing. But I’m not waiting any longer to enjoy life! :-)

    Greetings Gals!

I started at 350lb, Surgery weight was ~325lb, Tummy Tuck was at ~195 and my one year mark in February has kept me at about 175lb. 13 months after my surgery, I had to get gall bladder removed because I was having ugly gall bladder attacks and they found several stones. They attributed it to severe weight loss in small amount of time. Also, for those at the beginning, my best advice is to not allow yourself to get discouraged with stalls because oooooh my, how I loathed them! Just stick with the magic number 6 and don't consume more than 6g of sugar in any sitting or with any beverages. Stay Focused. Be Grateful Everyday. Appreciate your wonderful body at every stage,

I was 332 when I started the preop diet. I’m 4 mons post op, and I’ve lost over 90lbs. The challenges are that it takes awhile for you to really see a difference. I was nearly 80lbs before I started getting compliments. My stomach is holding on for dear life. My legs, arms, and chest went right away.

ladyscorpion04 reacted to New&Improved in 9 months check in - in maintenance - feeling amazing
Hello there hope everyone is feeling well and getting ready to return back to normalcy after covid-19.
Here in Australia things are starting to get back to normal with opening more businesses and stuff.
It's my monthly check in for those that are interested in my journey.
I count from the day I began my diet and my new way of life which is 9 months to the day but my surgery was 7 months ago.
Everyday I wake up and I'm amazed how far I've come this year. I look in the mirror and I still can't believe how good I look now after losing all the weight.
I spent half my life obese most of all my adulthood actually and I was always known as the fat friend or the one to be in the friendzone ONLY!!
I'm finally starting to gain some confidence in myself which I've struggled with on top of rejection from the opposite sex and I'm starting to engage in some counselling to help deal with the anxiety that comes with social interactions with women.
Um I'm regards to my weight looking back in my diary I've been in maintenance pretty much the same weight range now for 2 months.
My highest weight this year before surgery got up to 322LB and I've been in maintenance sitting between 165-168 pretty consistently these past 2 months.
I don't log my food as much but still keep a mental note of the calories and still have a habit of checking my weight most days just to keep focused and to remind myself to not get complacent!!
I will admit I've had some treats since in maintenance and it has not affected my weight which is great so I feel the bypass I was given has definitely changed the way my bodys metabolism works.
It feels great to be called skinny and people using that adjective when talking about me 😛
I'm no longer the fat friend I'm now the skinny ONE.
I just want people to know it is possible to reach all your goals and to be successful.
At my lowest weight of 165 I've lost 157lbs from my highest weight in just 7 months which is amazing.
I know I'll need to tone up and build some muscle eventually and that will add some weight which is fine.
Thank you all for your kind words throughout this journey.
    Mikey.

I know you said you aren't tolerating chicken well yet, but I do ground chicken, onion and taco seasoning. Because the chicken is ground it was easier for me until I could tolerate regular chicken. It's still something I make at least a couple of times a week. You can also mix in a can of Beans if you want. It will make around 6 meals...
