Can I see some before and after pics?
mattk53 replied to Hopefulin2021's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Here you go. -
I can tolerate mayo and butter in small amounts. The transition to solid foods was pretty seamless for me. I only threw up once when I ate one to many chicken wings.

Protein Shakes

They are my favorite too. I order mine on costco.com. I think they have them at wallmart.com too. -
Has this happened to anyone else?
mattk53 replied to mattk53's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, That was exactly my thinking. It just shocked the system into starting back up. -
I just blended up Soups of all kinds after my sleeve. Light clam Chowder, Turkey chili, Minestrone,, even some jambalaya. If it's totally liquefied it tastes great and does the job!

Thanks for the update.

That's the truth, I lost 28 lbs in 14 days.

Gastric Sleeve Versus The Gastric Bypass Surgery
mattk53 replied to Numbheart's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When I was looking at both, the sleeve just sounded like a better option. It was a shorter surgery, it was less invasive then the full bypass (It didn't "reroute" everything), It was just taking a large section of the stomach off. Plus the success rate was very close. (slight edge to the bypass) It just made sense for me. -
I had to grind all my pills for the first three months. I take so many of them it was a real drag. I'm glad that is over!

Just like others who posted. The hospital wouldn't let my wife and daughter come see me. I took a taxi to the hospital I couldn't see them for 2.5 days. When they picked me up outside.

I drove 5 days after post op. Just be sure to don't drive after taking pain meds. I could have driven probably a day or two earlier, I just didn't have to. I have a desk job so I would have been ok to go back to work 3 days after surgery. Also I've always been a fast healer.

I did it about 10-12 years ago. I lost 70 pounds and loved it. I tried it again about 5 years later doing the same dam program and didn't lose jack! I don't know why it worked so well one time then not at all the next. I guess because I was five years older. Metabolism and all.

I see this is 12 years late but Stanley Rodgers did my sleeve in 2020.

It should be year around!😎

Staying Positive
mattk53 replied to jennyhenny0330's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like you're doing good. I get an upset stomach at least once a week. I'm still trying to figure out what I can and can't eat. Best of luck and stay positive. -
having trouble breaking 400 calories
mattk53 replied to joleza's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My doctor gave me the same instructions, I drank 4 Premier proteins a day ate jello in the evenings for desert and drank broth for lunch and dinner. I lost 28 pounds in two weeks. It's a good jump start for your wight loss. The Doctor knows what they're doing, just go with it. -
How do I get my Surgeon in the Directory so I can update my profile?
mattk53 posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi, my Surgeon isn't in the directory. His name is Dr. Stanley Rodgers at University of California San Francisco Medical Center (UCSF). Could you add him so I can update my profile. https://www.ucsfhealth.org/providers/dr-stanley-rogers -
I have good insurance so I didn't have to deal with this, but I know Mexico is very popular among the self-pay crowd. I would search for info on the left top hand corner of this page. Good luck!

Has anyone had surgery in Istanbul, Turkey?
mattk53 replied to Melaninbarbie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It must be a fairly popular option this thread is already on page 4 . -
All right, good luck!

3 weeks 21 pounds, No real cravings yet, Even though I had to sit there and watch my son eat a half a loaf of garlic bread a couple days ago. One of my favorites.

Sorry you didn't get a response, I did pretty much the same thing. I hope all went well. -
My 600-lb Life: Fact Orr Fiction? 🧐🤔
mattk53 replied to jbeesauntie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started watching the show after my surgery. If I saw it before I probably wouldn't have gone through with it. The surgery scenes are very graphic. Especially the "pulling out the stomach" parts of the Sleeve. -
Great, keep it up. I lost 28 pounds over my 2 week pre-op.
-
They gave me two of them in the hospital. I guess to drive their point home. Good luck on your surgery (today I think).
