    High fats

I can tolerate mayo and butter in small amounts. The transition to solid foods was pretty seamless for me. I only threw up once when I ate one to many chicken wings.

    Protein Shakes

They are my favorite too. I order mine on costco.com. I think they have them at wallmart.com too.
  3. Yes, That was exactly my thinking. It just shocked the system into starting back up.

    Pureed diet

I just blended up Soups of all kinds after my sleeve. Light clam Chowder, Turkey chili, Minestrone,, even some jambalaya. If it's totally liquefied it tastes great and does the job!

    2.5 Years out!

    Thanks for the update.

    Liquid Diet

That's the truth, I lost 28 lbs in 14 days.
  7. When I was looking at both, the sleeve just sounded like a better option. It was a shorter surgery, it was less invasive then the full bypass (It didn't "reroute" everything), It was just taking a large section of the stomach off. Plus the success rate was very close. (slight edge to the bypass) It just made sense for me.

    Taking Meds

I had to grind all my pills for the first three months. I take so many of them it was a real drag. I'm glad that is over!

    Anyone go into surgery alone?

Just like others who posted. The hospital wouldn't let my wife and daughter come see me. I took a taxi to the hospital I couldn't see them for 2.5 days. When they picked me up outside.

    Driving post op

I drove 5 days after post op. Just be sure to don't drive after taking pain meds. I could have driven probably a day or two earlier, I just didn't have to. I have a desk job so I would have been ok to go back to work 3 days after surgery. Also I've always been a fast healer.

    Ww

I did it about 10-12 years ago. I lost 70 pounds and loved it. I tried it again about 5 years later doing the same dam program and didn't lose jack! I don't know why it worked so well one time then not at all the next. I guess because I was five years older. Metabolism and all.

    UCSF Bariatric Center

I see this is 12 years late but Stanley Rodgers did my sleeve in 2020.

    Staying Positive

It sounds like you're doing good. I get an upset stomach at least once a week. I'm still trying to figure out what I can and can't eat. Best of luck and stay positive.
  15. My doctor gave me the same instructions, I drank 4 Premier proteins a day ate jello in the evenings for desert and drank broth for lunch and dinner. I lost 28 pounds in two weeks. It's a good jump start for your wight loss. The Doctor knows what they're doing, just go with it.
  16. Hi, my Surgeon isn't in the directory. His name is Dr. Stanley Rodgers at University of California San Francisco Medical Center (UCSF). Could you add him so I can update my profile. https://www.ucsfhealth.org/providers/dr-stanley-rogers

    Paying for WLS

I have good insurance so I didn't have to deal with this, but I know Mexico is very popular among the self-pay crowd. I would search for info on the left top hand corner of this page. Good luck!
  18. It must be a fairly popular option this thread is already on page 4 .

    June Sleevers Post Op

3 weeks 21 pounds, No real cravings yet, Even though I had to sit there and watch my son eat a half a loaf of garlic bread a couple days ago. One of my favorites.

    Northern Cali/UCSF Buddy/Mentor

Sorry you didn't get a response, I did pretty much the same thing. I hope all went well.
  22. I started watching the show after my surgery. If I saw it before I probably wouldn't have gone through with it. The surgery scenes are very graphic. Especially the "pulling out the stomach" parts of the Sleeve.

    June 2020 surgeries

Great, keep it up. I lost 28 pounds over my 2 week pre-op.

    Crushing pills post-op.

They gave me two of them in the hospital. I guess to drive their point home. Good luck on your surgery (today I think).
