  1. Alex Brecher started following Freckles
  2. donnalemaster my first band developed a leak, and I had to pay again to have it removed and a new one implanted. This one works great I have lost over 4 stone, in 2 years and I am so glad I had a new one. This is my lifeline, and I would go though it all agin if this one failed (please God I hope it doesnt). Dont despair love, all will turn out well in the end.
  3. Some people are so rude, they are so up their own bums that they forget you have to be very careful when posting as the written word can be misenterpreted. I am sorry you have been offended Basimah, dont stay away because of someone else's ignorance, seems to me most of the people in this part of the forum are genuine and nice.. I dont come to this part normally, I use 'Anyone heard of Chris debryne' where the members have always been lovely. Only once a woman ( not a lady) bit my head off over something silly, but everyone backed me up and she never came back, silly moo. So give your fellow bandsters a second chance, I'm sure the good outweigh the bad.
  4. I do agree with that, but if you cant get more than a 3rd of a cup down you, the only option is a slight de-fill. However I take multi vits to help compensate, because I cant eat fruit or drink smoothies that are basically fruit mushed. The band is such a learning curve, and I find mine is different each day in respect of what foods I can tolerate. I only have a stone to go to reach my target, but have decided to have a 3ml de-fill in December. I am going to enjoy Christmas this year and in the New Year will get the 3ml put back in, hopefully I wont have put on too many pounds. I have in 6.5 atm and my band holds between 9 and 12 mls, so I spose I am lucky. Last October I did the same as we went to the Far East and Australia, for 3 weeks, we did 10 flights in all, so I was a bit scared that my band would be too tight, it worked perfectly, I could eat anything (albeit very small portions) and drink wine with my meals, and had only gained 3lbs, by the December. Just hope it works out the same this year.
  5. W8TYGIRL sounds to me like you can eat too much hun. I think a 3rd of a teacup is supposed to be the average meal consumption if you are filled to your sweet spot. Thats what written on my Bandster identity card. I understand the fear of being over=filled, had an episode like that last year. I sat up all night after the fill cos I couldnt even swallow my saliva, but it did ease off the next day, not a great deal, but at least I could swallow, and proceeded to lose 42lbs in the next couple of months. Good luck.
  6. Hi Neyhad, I'm sorry hun, I dont have a clue, that was what my surgeon told me the day of the removal of the faulty band. Realistically I suppose anything that is implanted into your body will attach itself eventually. Sorry i cant be of more help, maybe someone else can advise:blink:?
  7. Brilliant Make3, so glad its all over for you, and the news about the fill is tremendous!!! So was it a general anesthetic, well at least you were prepared for the worse, even though it didnt happen eh lol. I live just outside Liverpool in the North of England, but many years ago when I was about 15 I used to live in Sandwich and Deal, both in Kent. My dad was in the RAF so we travelled around a lot. My sister and brother in law live in washington, it is a small world. A war bride, ahh thats so sweet, is your mum still alive? Mine is and she's nearly 95 !
  8. You my dear, are very welcome. I was quite terrified myself, and had nobody to ask, so i understand. There's nothing to be scared of, as I said my port area was quite sore, this was because the surgeon had to cut the band away from some muscle that the band/port had attached itself to. It was only a burning feelng nothing unbearable at all, and I am one big baby. Let me know how you get on sweetheart i will be pleased to hear from you and keep smiling xxxx
  9. Hunny you'll be fine, i had my whole band replaced a year ago, and was only a little sore in the port area after surgery. I now have 10 scars instead of 5, but i dont care cos I'm too old to wear a bikini anyway. This new band is excellent, I am so glad I had the surgery over again. btw we are the same age. Good luck xx
  10. Hey chick, there is a thread you may like to join on here, mostly Dr Chris's patients..... see you there http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f11/anyone-know-dr-de-bruyne-chris-41669/
  11. maestrita would you be kind enough to point me in the correct direction to find I am in the UK and have the new Allergan band, but I didnt receive any 'instructions/recommendations' from the surgeon. Unless you mean the first few weeks after surgery, because I did receive those. Many thanx in anticipation.
  12. Thank you for your kind words. I think this time its working. I didnt lose anything until my 3rd fill though, and I think it was mainly because I gave up smoking. normally i would have put weight on. needless to say I have started again, and have now started to lose. I know I'm silly, but I cant pay all that money out not to lose weight. btw are you a girl or a guy? you're a great weight. I am 5ft 7ins, and 20 years ago (after 4kids) weighed 10stone....dont now though...but hope to again soon.
  13. See http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f85/my-story-68213/ Slim Jim. Hope that answers your question.
