  1. I went through this Last Meal Syndrome too. For me it began about 30 years ago and every day I ate like it was my last meal. The night before surgery, I went to FuddRuckers and had a HUGE burger with fries AND onion rings.
  2. Well, I HOPE you DO see them again....... 190 180 170 160 Congratulations!
  3. Although I have not attended any, I've heard there is a support group for Bandsters at Conroe Regional Hospital (next meeting March 9???).
  4. I have had several surgeries and have woken up with a tube in my throat twice. That is twice too many times. It is a horrible feeling and such a relief when the tube is removed. It is one of the only things I fear when going "under". Sorry you experienced it.
  5. I enjoy my tuna with a little vinegar and pepper or hot sauce
  6. I've been told to check my sugar level before going to bed. if it is below 140, I'm supposed to have 1 protein and 1 carb. That should hold you til morning.
  7. I was on both insulin and oral meds for diabetes. I have not had to take one shot of insulin since the surgery and I've been able to cut the meds dosage in half. That was from the very day of surgery, but I strongly suggest you talk to your doctor about adjusting your dosage.
  8. Boy, can I relate to you guys..... I am closely approaching my One Year Bandiversary on 02/28. At one time I had lost 35 lbs and was doing great. Then I suffered a torn meniscus in my left knee. It "gave way" on me more and more frequently so I decided to have surgery to repair. That was back in October and my knee feels worse than before the surgery. On top of that, my right knee is bothering me because of the extra stress of doing "double duty" while my left knee healed. Now I can hardly walk at all and when I do, it is very painful. I am back to my original starting weight and fear it will only go higher. Although lack of exercise is the excuse I give the public, the other hidden excuse is that I have become very depressed and am making all the wrong food choices. I am at the point of deep despair and am so tempted to just give up. I am sorry for sabotaging your thread. Thanks for listening anyway.
  9. I agree with Lisa....just make sure the ER knows about the LapBand, which requires special "handling". I definitiely would not wait till the 12th to see the doctor!
  10. Dear SuperDaddy, Your story is so familiar to mine, with the exception of having different "stories" that I have used for excuses. I was banded 11 months ago and initially losing 35 lbs, am now back to within 11 lbs from where I began. I have been reading a book "Food and Love" from a Christian author, Gary Smalley that has been giving me a lot of "food" for thought. Please excuse the pun. He states that once you get so far down on yourself, you eventually will cry out to God and admit it is all beyond your control. I have realized I can not do it alone...I am too weak and my addiction to food is too strong. Only God in His supernatural power can create in me the strength to conquer my "demons". I have been "strong" for 5 days now, and trust that He will continue working in me. I will keep you in my prayers. Oh, congratulations on your new little treasure.
  11. Boudreaux been fish'n down by de bayou all day an he done run outta night crawlers. He be bout reddy to leave when he seen a snake wit a big frog in his mouf. He knowed dat dem big bass fish like frogs, so he decides to steal dat froggie. Dat snake, he be a cotton moufed Water moccasin, so Boudreaux had to be real careful or he'd get bit. He snuk up behine de snake and grabbed him roun de haid. Dat ole snake din't lak dat one bit. He squirmed and wrapped hisself roun Boudreaux's arm try'n to get hisself free. But Boudreaux, him, hada real good grip on his haid, yeh. Well, Boudreaux pried his mouf open and got de frog and puts it in his bait can. Now, Boudreaux knows dat he cain't let go dat snake or he's gonna bite him good, but he had a plan. He reach into de back pocket of his bib overhauls and pulls out a pint a Tennessee hillbilly moonshine likker. He pour some drops into de snakes mouf. Well, dat snake's eyeballs roll back in his haid and his body go limp. Wit dat, Boudreaux toss dat snake into de bayou, den he goes back to fish'n. A while later Boudreaux dun feel sumpin tappin' on his barefoot toe. He slowly look down and dere be dat cotton moufed water moccasin, wif two more frogs. Life is Good!
  12. I would definitely vote for a woman if she were the best qualified for the position. I would definitely NOT ever vote for Hillary.
  13. I have been taking 1000mg of glucophage 2x daily for about 8 years and unfortunately can not say it has caused me to ever lose weight.
  14. All of the discussion here reminds me of an incident I witnessed several years ago. I was driving through the parking lot of a shopping mall and saw a young woman put a small 3yr old little girl into the back seat of a car as she was screaming at her. She then got into the back seat with her and I watched her beat her with the heel part of a high heeled shoe. (Someone else was driving evidently). I tried to get the license plate number so I could report it, but they drove away too fast. The image haunts me til this day!
  15. All of these stories are as if someone plucked them from my heart. I can relate to each one of them. I am also a food addict and am able to binge even through the band. I just have to change my food choices and the quantities will go right on through. Unfortunately, the things that will go right through are all the things that are so bad for me.....chips, Cookies, candy. Admittedly, I don't binge near as often as I used to and even though I have not lost much weight with the band, it has not come back. At this rate I can reach my goal when I am 211 yrs old. Yeah!!!! I know I need some serious therapy, but just knowing that I am not alone with this battle is such a great help. Thanks to all for being here and giving me a place to confide without retribution or further shame. That in itself keeps me on track rather than sending into a deeper abyss. I love you all. Have a blessed day.
  16. I'm with you Missy and Kathy.......... I happen to be a Bush supporter. It has been very difficult to stay quiet when it is obvious not the majority on this site. However, I respect everyone's opinon whether I agree or not. That's what's so great about our country....and this forum. I have a son in the military and had had several "adopted" sons go over seas. I was scared silly the entire time they were there. I do believe it was there right thing to do, I just wish it were over and we could bring them all home.
  17. As long as I can remember, I've always gotten a stopped-up nose when I get full. Since it is almost Halloween, I can even get gross and say I'll lose 2 lbs after blowing my nose. My family has always made fun of my peculiarity. Needless to say, I've always bought stock in Kleenex, but not so much since I've been banded.
  18. I am resurrecting this thread because of something I read in the paper today. I have not tried it, but thought it wad interesting and wanted to share it: I lost a great deal of hair due to stress and illness. My cousin recommended nettle tea. I was unable to find the tea, but I found capsules. The regrowth has been nothing short of amazing! Even my hairdresser is shocked. When I buy the capsules, clerks assume I'm taking it for allergies. Few people seem to know of the hair benefits. Have you heard of this? A. We, too, had heard of using stinging nettle for allergies and also for an enlarged prostate. In checking, we found that it has been applied directly to the scalp to treat hair loss. We could not find any studies supporting this use. Let me know if anyone has heard of this. Have a wonderful day!
  19. I have an office job, but stayed out of work for 2 weeks due to the gas pains in my neck. The surgery itself was not bad.
  20. My DH and I are total opposites physically as well as having different interests and hobbies. The glue that holds us together is our spirituality. I fell in love with the absolute OPPOSITE of what I was looking for physically in a man: I wanted TALL: my DH is 5"0" I am 5"6" I wanted Muscular: my DH was 130lbs soaking wet (when we married) I weighed 275 lbs when we married I wanted a man with lots of thick dark hair: my DH is bald I had short blond hair when we married I wanted a white collar man: my DH has been disabled since birth. I work in a white collar world I wanted an older mature man: my DH was 29 when we married I was 35 yrs old when we married I expected a divorced man: my DH had never been married I was divorced I expected a man with kids: my DH had never had kids I had 2 children
  21. I got off of insulin the day of surgery.....Feb 28. My last A1c was 6.0 Isn't the BAND wonderful? I feel like it was worth it just for the improvement in health and the weight loss is a PLUS (or negative..teehee)

The Miracle Toddler Diet People are always on the lookout for a new diet. The trouble with most diets is that you don't get enough to eat (the starvation diet), you don't get enough variation (the liquid diet) or you go broke (the all-meat diet.) Consequently, people tend to cheat off their diets, or quit after three days. Now there's the new Toddler Miracle Diet. Over the years you may have noticed that most two year olds are trim. Now the formula to their success is available to all in this new diet. You may want to consult your doctor before embarking on this diet, otherwise, you may be seeing him afterwards. Good Luck! DAY ONE Breakfast - One scrambled egg, one piece of toast with grape jelly. Eat 2 bites of egg, using your fingers; dump the rest on the floor. Take 1 bite of toast, then smear the jelly over your face and clothes. Get some in your eyebrows too. It'll give you something to pick at for several hours of satisfying appetite control. Lunch - Four crayons (any color), a handful of potato chips, and a glass of milk (3 sips only, then spill the rest down your leg). Dinner - A dry stick, two pennies and a nickel, 4 sips of stale beer. Bedtime Snack - Toast piece of bread and toss it on the kitchen floor. Be sure to step on it and hear it go crunch! DAY TWO Breakfast - Pick up stale crunched toast from kitchen floor and eat it. Drink half bottle of vanilla extract or one vial of vegetable dye. Um. Yummy! Lunch - Half tube of "Pulsating Pink" lipstick and a handful of Purina Dog Chow (any flavor). One ice cube, if desired. Afternoon Snack - Lick an all-day sucker until sticky, take outside, drop in dirt. Retrieve and continue slurping until it is clean again. Then bring inside and drop on the rug. Wander away without thought. Dinner - A rock or an uncooked bean, which should be thrust up your left nostril. Pour iced tea over mashed potatoes; eat with a large strainer spoon, since taking your time is vital to your dieting success. DAY THREE Breakfast - Two pancakes with plenty of syrup, eat with fingers, rub in hair. Don't pull it out later though. It hurts. Glass of milk: drink half, stuff remainder of picked over pancakes into glass. After breakfast, pick up yesterday's sucker from rug, lick off fuzz, and put it on the cushion of your best chair. Wander away without direction. Lunch - Three matches, peanutbutter and jelly sandwich. Spit several bites onto the floor. Pour glass of milk on table and slurp up. Smear a design on table with remaining milk. It's good for your artistic expression. Dinner - Dish of ice cream, handful of potato chips, some wine, and coffee. FINAL DAY Breakfast - A quarter-tube of toothpaste (any flavor), bit of soap, an olive. Pour a glass of milk over bowl of cornflakes, add a half-cup of sugar. Once cereal is soggy, drink milk and feed cereal to dog. Be sure to rub some in dog's fur just for fun. Lunch - Eat crumbs off kitchen floor and dining room carpet. Find that sucker and finish eating it. Dinner - A glass of spaghetti and chocolate milk. Discard meatball on plate. Stick of mascara for dessert. Enjoy!
  23. Very well stated, Carlene. I totally agree.
  24. I dated a man that weighed 600 lbs before I met and married my 130 lb husband. The reason we broke up had nothing to do with his (or my) physical appearance. Truth be told, he broke up with me. Physical appearances can definitely give a clue to underlying emotional issues, however I have always stressed to my kids that they should look further than skin deep before judging a person or making a choice to accept their friendship. I almost missed meeting the "man of my dreams" because he was too short and skinny. I was very guilty of prejudice, just for the opposite reason.
