    MAY 2020 Sleevers

So I went to my 3 month follow up, even though it has been 4 months.. (had to cancel my appt in August because Hurricane Laura was headed to my city... but of course ended up not coming at all 🙄). I am still lingering in a stall -- it has been almost 3 weeks. Doc said it was normal and to not worry - I'd start losing again.. He said I was actually doing really well compared to most who started at my height and weight. I joined a gym and have gone almost every day (besides Sunday) to help kickstart the weight loss again, but it hasn't worked. I go for 35 minutes on the exercise bike (30 mins hardcore, then 5 min cool down) and 30 minutes on the treadmill (25 minutes hardcore, then 5 min cool down).... but still, the scale doesn't move besides up and down a lbs each day. I will keep the faith though and keep doing what I am doing. Hope everyone else is doing okay. I'd love to read updates from you guys...
  2. I do LOVE your planner, @tarotcardreader ~ it so cute!

    Can't vomit

I had the sleeve, but I can not vomit either. Even when I've felt I needed to desperately. I dry heave as well. Prior to surgery - I used to vomit often unfortunately due to having chronic migraines and headaches... and the migraine medication I take (Imitrex) makes me EXTREMELY nauseous. And the headaches & migraines make me nauseous enough but the medicine amplifies it. But ever since surgery - it will not come up. I googled around a few weeks ago to see if others experienced this and it seems a lot of people have.

    So disappointed in people

    Awwww.. That is awesome!
  5. I did my EGD on Monday, then had my surgery on Thursday... However, it was scheduled like that. I had EGD on Monday, the final appointment w/surgeon prior to surgery on Tuesday (to discuss EGD results + get my co-pay)... On Tuesday - they said I needed ANOTHER EKG & stress test... so they scheduled it for Wednesday... then I was cleared Wednesday afternoon by Cardiologist...and had my sleeve done on Thursday (had to be there at 5:30am)!!! Such a crazy week.

    STALLED

Great suggestions from others... if those don't work for you, then maybe try intermittent fasting.. Only eat during an 8 hour window. That seems to work for people. I am on a 10 day stall & I am so close to my goal. It is so frustrating. I ramped up my exercise routine yesterday... and I am hoping that will work. If not, I am going to do intermittent fasting. Good luck!
  7. Are you weighing yourself after you use the bathroom but before you eat and drink anything? To get the best read on your weight loss/gain - weigh yourself in the same "condition" every day. IE, in the morning before you eat or drink anything... after you've used the bathroom... and as close to nude as possible. My weight fluctuates during the day with the intake of food and massive amounts of water.. that can add 1-2 lbs onto my weight during the day.. and clothing adds weight as well. Make sure to weigh under the same "variables" each time. Good luck!

    MAY 2020 Sleevers

You guys are doing great! I am in another "stall" ...been the same weight for a week. I pretty much knew this was going to happen because for three weeks - I was losing FAST... like 3½ - 5 lbs per week. I knew it was going to be too good to true and wouldn't last. But yes, I am with you guys and just trusting the process too and doing as best as I can do... following the guidelines.. whatever will be.
  9. I brought a robe, long socks and my laptop!! No one else was allowed in my room because of CoVid so I was all by myself for HOURS... the laptop helped so much!
  10. Definitely IV fluids & swelling. I gained 10 lbs when I weighed myself after I got out of the hospital. Took a few days before it came off. Don't worry - it'll disappear before you know it.

    Post op liquid diet

Just do the best you can do. I didn't come close either.

    Food drink log

Where did you get the planner? That is a great idea.

    Difficulties 3 weeks post op

Not sure about the eating issues, but I was constantly tired during the first like 5 weeks. I would also run out of breath easily and just overall weakness and inability to stand for long periods of time... (even "normal periods of time"). I read this is normal - when I googled about these symptoms - some people said they had that for up to 2 months post-surgery. you're getting way less calories than your body is used to & so you don't have the "fuel" your body was previously used to. Your body will get used to the lower calorie intake. I would definitely consult your doctor to verify that everything is okay though. S/he might want to do some testing to see if something more is going on.

Waiting for pre-op class to begin!

Oh maybe you can make some friends and you guys can help each other on your journey! I didn't have to do a class, but would have loved to meet other people in my area doing the procedure at the same time as me.
  15. It is definitely a stall. I freaked out when I had mine - it was over 3 weeks long. Just be patient - I know it can be so frustrating, but the scale will start moving again.
  16. I got the sleeve and I am exactly the same way. I was like this before surgery too though. I've never been able to eat in the mornings. I can not go to sleep hungry - it will keep me awake. And I can easily overdo it on the calories at night. I wish I wasn't like this. I've read you shouldn't three hours before bed, at least.. but like I said, if I do that I will toss and turn. It is frustrating!
  17. Yup. I had that "head hunger" bad in the first few weeks & it really makes you believe you're hungry. MANY people on here have discussed having this on here. It is not uncommon at all. For most - it is all in your head, but perception is reality..

    MAY 2020 Sleevers

I am down 44 lbs now (haven't updated my profile because I like to stay at a weight for at least 2-3 days before I updated) ~ I had long stalls but for the past 3 weeks... weight has been dropping fast. I know I am going to go into a stall soon. But I am prepared for the disappointment this time around. I don't have much saggy skin besides my arms and use dumb bells to work them out, but still a little sagging underneath the arms.. and I still have a small pooch in my stomach -- that is where all my weight settles unfortunately. I've been doing ab exercises to tone it up, but it needs to lose more fat for the exercises to show their results. I cheated last night after having some stomach issues the past few days.. I had chips & queso.. Just a tiny one from Taco Bueno. I haven't cheated before that (besides having a spoonful of my mom's cheesecake --- one bite). No dumping and I actually felt better after eating it. (I had been feeling weak because of my stomach issues). Anyway, I am back on track today. @Violetsareblue Nice job on losing 50+ lbs! That's incredible! And I agree about holding off on buying clothes. It is so tempting though with all the new cute fall clothes I am seeing online. Ugh... but I am going to hold off. I did order two pairs of American Eagle jeans from Ebay for cheap... they're used and were under $20 ea. All the jeans I have from being previously skinny are super flared... and I wanted skinny jeans.

Selling your old clothes is such a good idea! I am going to do that too!
  20. Well there is nothing you can do about it now, but no - your sutures are still healing and this could be very harmful. I wouldn't do this again. The first few weeks - you will have "head hunger" bad.. Where your mind has not caught up with your stomach & you'll THINK you're hungry and crave all the bad foods you previously ate. You have to work through that stage, because it's not safe to eat solid foods at this point. Just monitor yourself for a few days to make sure you haven't harmed yourself. And be very gentle with your tummy/body -- it is healing right now. Good luck.

    Endoscopy Monday

Sorry, I know my post wasn't helpful. I was just shocked. I am so sorry that happened to you. I bet that was horrifying. I would let them know before they start that happened to you in your previous endoscopy!

Normal to wake up during an endoscopy with a tube down your throat? s 👀 uh, what?

    Chinese food

She probably isn't wanting the healthy stuff... she can make that at home. I think that sort of defeats the purpose of going one last time to her favorite restaurant that is closing. I say, go for it. It's not like she can eat that much in her small pouch. I would still steer clear of fried foods, if possible. And get back on track immediately after. I am 3 months out and VERY strict on what I eat -- have not had 1 cheat day since surgery, but if my favorite restaurant was closing, then I would allow myself a cheat day.

    Need personal docs help?

I thought 100% I would be denied. I procrastinated making an appointment for like 2 months -- (which makes me sad because I could further along if I hadn't). I just thought there is no way.. and it was actually easy to get approved. Find a surgeon with good ratings and reviews.. and if you're going to try to get it paid via insurance- make sure they take your insurance, then call and make an appointment!

    Need personal docs help?

I didn't have any help from my primary care doctor. I went straight for a consultation and the surgeon recommended the sleeve for me after reading my health issues... after that I had to see a dietitian, get a letter of approval from my psychiatrist and pass an EKG & stress test to get approved by my insurance. My personal doctor was never involved.. I told her about it at my appointment soon before my surgery but she had no involvement in it.
